I thought Antony was really good last season and looked like an exciting winger. It’s quite obvious that of the field issues and what he was wrongly accused of have broken his confidence. Shame for him cos he’s a player with a lot of potential.

Fair assessment, however Antony has scored very important goals this season. Confidence is everything for any sports person. He has achieved, plays for his country ... & is human therefore absolutely deserves respect.

Not one mention about his attitude? His immaturity, temper and childish tantrums are among the worst in football. That fidget spin that he's so proud of is a street preteen skill. And the fact that he thinks that it's entertaining on the field shows how immature he is. And I personally watch him, and sometimes giggles at his childishness, but that's how I see him. Just a kid.
He needs to learn how to get rid of that first, then professionalism can start developing his skills but to be honest, it's way too late for that. At this point, I doubt he could be as good as Neymar but let's not compare and see how he can be the best version of himself years from now.

I am not saying he had played upto the standard yet but I think if he has given proper time and chance and if the teams offensive playing style gets better as a whole, he will also get better.

Let's look at Antony's stats. In 34 appearances across all competition he has 4 goal contributions, his expected goal this year is 0.14 (vs 0.37 in Ajax and this is without the penalty), average shots is 2.48 (4.12 in Ajax) and I can carry on. This is too small for a big transfer from Ajax (80.9 M£ making the 13th most expensive player in the world and do you know that he was proposed in Aug 22 which was rejected by Man U as they refused to pay more than 60M£ and during OGS he was valued at 25M£ by Man U scouts). Tough, he had a moment of glory vs. Liverpool in the FA cup, this is too little. Ten hag who pushed big time to bring him, had to put him on the bench as he was not good enough (and it is also Ten Hag responsability to not have made him at the most of his capabilities). He also had some legal issues off the field, which could have impacted him for sure.
