Meeting the Beater

Hummingbird builder Vic Syracuse waxes poetic on his Sikorsky-based Experimental helicopter, which is on display in front of the Lycoming building at AirVenture this year. He and his wife, Carol, flew from Georgia to Oshkosh for the big show. Powered by a Thunderbolt IO-540, Vic's helo is beautifully built and lavishly upholstered.

What a beautiful project. It makes complete sense in all respects. Sounds like a "home run" as far as an experimental. One thing I noticed. I was a little concerned about the wires and hoses hanging underneath the engine and fuselage. Probably nothing, but it may be worth considering routing them over the underside of the engine so they're not exposed to either anything on the ground, or in the air. Congratulations on your project. It's a beauty.
