Wow wish i could afford a 1/18 F-16! When i was young i saw two of them flying very low, i saw the pilot so i saluted, the pair of f-16s came back and the left one turned upside down abd waved his wings to me! ❤
I wonder if all of the molds are still intact, hiding out in some warehouse, waiting for someone to purchase the rights? These were so detailed and cool!
All I played with was military toys as a kid, and man if I had this then I would probably be sleeping with it every night. Today I would most likely display this beauty on my shelf or something and play with it when no one was looking =P PewPew for the kid inside all of us.
9:44 The term you’re looking for is Vertical Stabilizors/Vertical Tail. The Rudder is the moving surface on the stabs. The horizontal stabilizers you referred to are actually fully moving as a surface and are called the elevators in this case, creating pitching moments on the aircraft. Sometimes they do double duty and also control roll moment, and in this case would be called elevons (a portmanteau of elevator and aileron). The outer moving surface on the wing is called an aileron and the inner moving surfaces are the flaps. Hope that helps!
a Bit of correction, it's called a stabilator, you are correct that it controls pitch and roll, also the Flaps will react with the Alrons and stabilator for increased maneuverability, in Speedbrake mode, the Flaps, Alorons, stabs,Rudders and Speed brakes will all deploy to slow that bird down. just some info.....Just subbed, great channel P.S. Nose landing gear doors are wrong, and it's a pylon not hard point Fly Navy!!!!
Actually you're wrong. The elevators that you call are actually called Stabilators or as we call in the Navy "stabs". The difference between and elevator and a stabilator is that amount of flight surfaces that actually move. An elevator has a portion of the wing that is fixed while the trailing moves up and down. A stabilator has the entire wing move up and down. The gunsight as he calls it is called HUD (heads up display). The cockpit flight controls are very inaccurate but thats to be expected. I don't know why the engine fans are near the back of exhaust nozzles rather in the front near the intakes! And those nose doors are definitely inaccurate. And It might just he me but the landing gear looks skinny compared to how beefy and large the real landing gear is.
I just found your video and enjoyed it. As someone who served in a F-18A Squadron way back in the 1980’s, this brings back memories. My only problem with this model is it’s a Navy Squadron and not a Marine Corps Squadron. (JK) My question is what’s the Buno Number of this aircraft model When I was in 1619xx were real old. My Squadron ( VMFA-115) flew 162453 - 162464 (yes they were brand new from the factory when we picked them up) until 1988. When I got out in 1989 they were building 1631xx’s….
Really cool. Would love one, coming from DCS. The only thing that bugs me is the turbofans at the engine exhausts.... that's not how it is in real life. Those fans represent the intake rather, which you would hardly ever see anyway, unless you stuck your head inside the intake vents.
The 1/18th F-18 hornets are very cool I had 3 of them before I sold them years ago. Black Vampire. Blue Angel . Red Devils versions . Trying to buy one these days is quite expensive some are selling for $800 TO $1000 . If you have one these hold onto it and do not open it , it will only increase in value as the years pass by . The jets are gorgeous , They also made 1/18 f-16 Falcons too also very expensive and hard to come by these days .
I agree! I want those other versions too. I also have an F-16 new in box (Limited Edition) that I will be unboxing and reviewing as well. Thanks for watching! 🙏
Awesome no more wood or carpet floors. Nice to see you get a come up. Love your channel. Proving we're all kids at heart... The toys just got better. AIM HIGH!!! TO THE WILD BLUE YONDER....
21st Century Toys had the best stuff. My son had the P51D and BF109 when he was little. Only saw them at Toys R Us back then. We accidently left them in the basement in our last move. The F-14 looked really good. He also had a bunch of different WW2 army guys. He had jeeps and motorcycles and a German machinegun team.
I agree! I wish 21st Century Toys, Elite Force, Jsi/Merit and all the other 1:18 model plane companies we’re still doing these! Thank you for watching! : )
I like the new name and the planes that you review and I like the new set up so glad to see you channel growing and I hope that soon you will get to 1 million subscribers. Good luck
Nice addition to your collection. I have the limmited RAAF 75 Sqd and the Blue Dragon version's as well. I would suggest to you that you get a suppourt stand for this Bird as they are Notorious for collapsing the Undercarriage due to it's size and wieght. Love the new format.Well Done.
OMG the box is huge and the finished model I actually think you could catapult launch off carrier. On the F-18, you have vertical fins, with moveable rudders turned inwards to facilitate lift over the stabilizers at launch. The F18 is so versatile on weapons variation you could have Mark 80'S, but considering the era, possibly JDAMS. Joint Direct Attack Munition. MK 80 is just an iron bomb , JDAM can be turned into a guided bomb based on mission. In all probability the center tank, would be an ECM POD, Electronic Counter Measures. The cockpit is nicely detailed, especially ejection seat. And what a bonus surprise, two pilots. In addition to being a limited edition, this model is a version of what is known as a Legacy Model. All combat F-18's are now SUPER HORNETS LEGACY MODELS, will be the aircraft used at Top Gun School. Your new video format is great, really highlights you and the kit. I always find it amazing that companies that built such great models long ago went out of business P.S. not sure I mentioned this on the Zero, the original aircraft were built in the mid to late 30s, they bought their engines from Pratt and Whitney so some if the zeros attacking Pearl Harbor were powered by American engines. The Japanese reversed engineered them for balance if war. I keep saying " this is the best kit yet" but seem to have to change that every new video. Good luck on future plans, I'm standing by to stand by for the next one. In the interim I'd love to find an Indiana Jones type of warehouse stocked with this puppies
I always wanted these types of toys, and elite force does not make the things they used to, and 21st century is out of buisness. I wish I got one in the earlier years. I like your videos and good job, man.
There are some great deals these days on the Hobby Boss 1/18 scale aircraft models that you have to glue together. The 1/18 scale Huey helicopter is only $82, The Harrier jet is only $109 and the F-86 is only $76, I noticed the price also dropped on the Tamiya 1/16 scale Kubelwagen for $86, It used to be as high as $143, I just ordered the F-86
As if this isnt the most amazing thing ever. Even if youre not even really into models and stuff, this would probably get you into models and stuff. This thing is so good. I like the size of it. The smaller models are cool, but this gives off like an old GI Joe toy type feel. Is there a lot around in this type of scale, this one is a limited addition, but are there other models around in this scale, in this type of designed format?
So I was looking at the Idea of making a Roman War Galley and a Greek War Galley in 1/18 scale and I come up to where they would be almost 4 feet in length.

Question: Are there any current manufacturers of 1/18 scale jets and planes similar to this? Myself I'm pretty fortunate, I have elite force F-18, F-16, and 1/32 F-4 but I am still trying to find and affordable of the holy grail, the F-14 Tomcat. Keep up the good work. Thanks!

Thanks!

Thank you for watching! Thats awesome, I would love to fly an F-18 Super Hornet! Is it fun? The prices vary because the company went out of business. Check ebay but prepare for sticker shock 😬.
