    Thank you for highlighting this area! There are few doctors that really understand the impact of EPI. Dr. Freedman also has an in depth article on Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency written with Dr. Struyvenberg that anyone with EPI should read. Another really helpful resource was the book Primal Pancreas.

      Bro the stool test is the gold standard.
      Let them test your elastase value in your stool.
      I also did it and they found only 15(idk the value) but normal is atleast 200.
      In my case something between 300-400 would be normal

    I have severe epi and taking 25k creon in Ireland. Stool went from mush to soft formed. Intake 4-6 and only a slight improvement. Not once in 6 months have i had any 'nornal' looking movement and still greasy looking and soft. It's so frustrating.
    I know a lot of people have diarrhea so I am lucky in that sense. Its just odd that on low fat diet trial it was the same result.
    My GI thinks my having campylobacter then h pylori caused damage to cells in pancreas. I have no pains or signs of scarring or atrophy, any signs of pancreatitis. It sucks but the condition could be much worse.

      @@richiep3520 I have had a lot of your symptoms for 20+ years. A bile binder addresses malabsorption of bile and/or inability to digest and utilize food and its nutrients. Wow this is so informative. I wonder if I eat a large celery stalk with peanut butter on it and an Apple and Mixed Nuts, would I still follow your advice for 3 creons? would I follow the same logic? Take 1 at the beginning first few bites, 1 mid-way and 1 at the end of the meal

    • @Froedtert

      Hi Gabriel, thanks for reaching out with this question. The gold standard is to split the enzymes throughout the meal. For example, if you are instructed to take 3 enzymes per meal, it is best to take 1 at the beginning (first few bites, 1 mid-way and 1 at the end of the meal). If your dose is 2 or 4 per meal, it’s recommended to take the first (1 or 2 capsules) at the beginning (first few bites) and the remaining dose (1-2 capsules) towards the end of the email. One final note- enzymes are meant to mimic your body’s normal secretion of digestion. Taking enzymes prior to the start of the meal or after the meal is completed is not as helpful as spreading the capsules throughout the meal time. Thanks, Carla

    Can we use PE in case if a person is allergic to milk and egg in order to eliminate or decrease related symptoms (runny nose, migraine, headache) . Kindly guide.

    • @Froedtert
      @Froedtert  3 роки тому

      Hi Bob - Pancreatic enzymes are prescribed to aid in the digestion of fat, protein and carbohydrates that are part of a regular diet. The active ingredients, primarily lipase, protease and amylase, work to break down food normally consumed allowing for better absorption. If a person has a food allergy, pancreatic enzymes will not correct the allergy or the related symptoms. If it is a true food allergy, it is best to avoid the food altogether. If the food causes intolerances in the GI tract (diarrhea, bloating, etc.), digestive aids such as Lactaid would be recommended over prescribed pancreatic enzymes.

    • @bobwa399
      @bobwa399 3 роки тому +1

      @@Froedtert An allergy is caused by a protein molecule, whole or in peptide form, making its way into blood stream. If Protease in PE cant break those molecules then that either means that Protease is selective to certain food proteins and not to all or their is some other factor(s) which is alone or in combination with Protease breaks protein molecule in milk and egg for some people and they don't develop symptoms but others do. Confusing but interesting. May be it has to do with gut micro flora as well..just guessing.
