Great video! That was very informative as to how to make a radiator mount along with the X pipe. For all of you in awe of Chris' fabrication skills, you now know that he bleeds just like the rest of us...
Wow, that’s quite the cut on your finger. Glad you’re OK. I’ve learned that the older I get the thinner my skin gets, and the more I need to wear gloves. The Xpipe looks awesome, I’m glad you’re not cheeping out. You’re absolutely right the sound is one of the main reasons of doing it right. Great video Chris, keep them coming. I think the fuel system is next and then you’re onto electrical? Sad to see the kitties go I’m sure they will get good homes. You guys have raised them well.
Oh boy, somebody let the perfection crew out! Of course a Ferrari has to sing! I do the same with everything I build (cars motorcycles) aural pleasure of wringing the engine has just as much primacy as visual and visceral perception. Ouch! Always something ready to bite us on building stuff. I have a bad habit of only going to the emergency room if I can't put the finger back on with tape. Glad it was as mild as it was. I (try) to protect myself and sensory inputs as much as possible, not for fear of harm but I can't work proficiently on stuff the next day if I screw myself up. Farewell kitties! Thanks for taking us along with them. You and your wife show us your loving hearts reflected in the tender, enthusiastic affection that the kitties have for you both. You're good people and I've known that since meeting you. Great episode!
Man that hurts. I landed myself in the ER for 2 stitches last weekend cleaning gasket material off an aluminum housing. A friend is nice to have to bounce ideas off of and hopefully make faster progress. Love the various tips you include in the videos. I have a female friend who had a flame point siamese, he was a friendly goofy cat.
@@attheredbarn1669 Exactly, glad we're both ok. The scraper slipped and the hand using to steady everything smashed into the inside edge of a TR6060 tansmission case. Had it bandaged up, bleeding stopped, thinking I was good to go. Went back to work to discover quite a bit of blood running down my finger and blood on the floor. The cut was on the side knuckle so every time you move the finger it opened up.
I appreciate the process and sharing the details of the build. Keep it coming. What is the difference in sound and performance between an X exhaust and a crossover pipe. My thought was that a crossover equalizes pressure and the X equalizes AND improves sound? Also time is irrelevant as long as you are enjoying the journey. I will be nice to see the Fer. and the LS in a side by side display some day.
You know, I happily admit I'm no expert but: If you mean an X pipe and an H pipe, both improve exhaust scavenging and low-speed power (and help reduce/eliminate drone) but an X is supposed to bump high RPM range power. There's a bunch of science behind all this but I'm not after the last hp, just the Ferrari scream. We'll see how I did, once it's running. Wish me luck!
Since you are leaning the radiator, have you thought of putting in hood vents (gt40 style) to get the hot air out? I guess it's not really important since it's a rear engine, but it would probably look pretty cool.
I absolutely have but, so far, I've never seen a hood vent I liked on a 914. The fuel tank firewall means the vent has to be pretty short and IMO, they just don't look right. That said, I'm working on a design that may work. I'll keep you posted!
eh, it wasnt bleeding too much id have washed it off and popped a few dabs of super glue on it ( the medical stuff ) and wrapped it up, Done that a few times!!! always stings though!

And lets' hope this first cut really is the deepest this car ever gives me!
Martin is an amazing welder.
He is! I really need to up my game and get proficient at welding aluminum. Not that I don't enjoy having Martin's help.
By the time you are done with this one you will have built 3. Valuable learning experiences are worth it.
Right? But probably closer to 4! ;-)

Thanks Tony! Yep, no harm done so I'm feeling lucky there. Next is... well, I guess you'll have to keep watching! ;-)

Chicks dig scars, right? ;-) Just lucky it wasn't serious. Hope the same is true for you. Thanks for watching and commenting!

I counted to make sure there were still five!
To quote Monty Python, "'tis but a scratch..."

OUCH, hate when that happens
That makes two of us! Just a reminder to always be careful.
Do you have shirts available now?
I has some made and mostly just give them to friends. I haven't tried to market them. You think folks might be interested?

Well, with your use name, that makes sense! ;-) But as usual, I go all in with the repair!
Bonk?
I wondered where that went! It was supposed to highlight Toddy hitting the glass in the room at Morti's... Sorry for missing that in the final edit.
Painful progress..
Hey, at this point, I'll take whatever kind of progress I can get! ;-)
But did you die? 18:28
I didn't!
