It's a cool idea for a small shop and thanks for the demo. The only issue I see, which is a potential problem with any spray booth, is that the negative air flow will pull in dust directly over the work piece thereby contaminating it. Therefore you might want to think about setting up a separate spray area away from where you are doing wood working!
That is very true if you are trying to get a better finish. The advantage I see for this type of product isn't so much contamination on the project but preventing overspray on everything in that area.
Does it reduce the odor, I live in the northeast and it is starting to get cold and I would like to spray indoors. I would love to do it without killing myself, my wife, and pets with funes! Thank you!
Thanks for getting back to me. I bought one on Amazon a few years ago and still haven't used it. Looks like it might be good for spraying outside on windy days!
Thank you for the video. I have average sized kitchen cabinets and I was wondering the size of your paint shelter in this video. I couldn't see the writing on the side that well. Thanks!
I have one of these and it works great. I use a extra EZ Flow cheap green air filter in front of the more expensive air filter that's required. It gives me more use of the good filter.
Probably best to make sure you use a Fan with a "brushless motor". Motors that use brushes create sparks and the aerosol that is used to propel the paint out of the can is flammable.
I going to order one of these. But my main problem, is with dust from the air getting in my paint and clear coat. It’s very dusty where I live. Do you think by reversing the fan to push clean filtered air into the tent could work? Thanks.
Did Homeright buy out Wagner or something? I just tried finding Homeright's as shown in your video, however, even on their website they show a Wagner shelter instead of what yours looks like. Is the Wagner shelter just as good as the original Homeright shelter? I know they look alike, but, that doesn't mean it's just as good.
Where did you get the fan and filter for it? Plus how much for them and can you get them in Ireland, I know I can get the spray booth from Amazon itself but not certain about the rest!
N95 masks are not rated for paint fumes. They are 100% useless for paint. They are rated for dust, and are pointless to wear for painting with. Just pony up the $25 and get a 3m painting mask and the correct filters for it. It’s worth it.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop Right but those filters are only for particles not the vapors. But I guess at the same time if it was that dangerous more people would blow up and that doesn't happen.
@@BusyDadsWorkshop Which manufacture? Of course the tent manufacture is going to say its fine, but Lacquer is flammable and that manufacture says to keep it away from flames and sparks. Having the air pulled through is good, but you do still have a spark issue as the air fills the room. You need a sparkless fan built for air evacuation of fumes. Please be careful. Think about this, what if someone sees this video tried it, but has a fan with a frayed wire - they forget to turn it on at first and then realize the fumes are too much so they kick on the fan and BOOM! I think you really should have addressed that and made a point of fire safety. I believe that it can be use the way you are using it safely as long as have fresh air ventilation and a mask - the fumes are still in the room and that is a small room. I don't mean to sound like I am knocking you, I am not. I am just trying to bring the issue to the front since it can burn down houses and kill people. You have a good video otherwise and I wish you well. Please don't think I am a nanny, I just want you and others to be safe.
Is that mask rated for paint fumes? It seems unlikely that it is. It’s likely rated for dust. You should really spend the $25 for a proper paint mask man.

It does not reduce the odor. It only reduces overspray in the air.

Thanks for the video, I am tossing my cardboard box booth and getting one of these Homeright spray shelters today!
Very cool, I’m gonna try converting an old tent like that. I’m using the snail floor fans though.
Sounds like a great idea for bigger pieces to paint!
Probably best to make sure you use a Fan with a "brushless motor". Motors that use brushes create sparks and the aerosol that is used to propel the paint out of the can is flammable.
Thank you! I love your turntable! I got a Wagner Spray booth that is very similar, and collapsing it is maddening 😂
Great video! Practical and informative for those of us looking for a solution like this. Well done!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Great job! Loved the face mask. I've ordered this for my model air sprayer.
Gerard Faulk what is the name of you mask?
@@cigarman121 It's a standard N95 Mask.

I thought those box fans used for exhausting is bad since it can blow up or something since their motor aren't spark protected.
It would be possible. That’s one of the reasons I try using a better filter.

Exactly what I was looking for! Thanks for the video!
Glad it helped! It has kept my space cleaner!
Is this booth safe for spaying with highly flammable lacquer spray paints from tamiya rattle cans?
@@BEBESSCHET-rs7ir you would have to be careful about the fan. The sparking from the motor on a cheap box fan could be dangerous.
I bought one to spray paint and it says not to use with fan with flammable paints... defeats the purpose for me
Great review, exactly what I need for my small shop! Thanks
Thanks! Just be careful with solvent based paints (flammable).
@@BusyDadsWorkshop How do you deal with these? What about the clean up of the shelter, just let it dry?
@@pauldoiron9637 I just let it dry and then collapse it down.
Thanks for the video ... it was informative and covered the subject thoroughly. Cheers!
Great to hear! Thank you!
Does it actually work is there any overspray going into rest of room
It works pretty well when using a rattle can. I don't know if using an airless or bigger spraygun would overwhelm it.
From what I can tell, this version is no longer available unfortunately. When I go to the Homeright website it is not listed anymore.
Interesting. It looks like they only have the regular one now. www.homeright.com/products/spray-shelters/small-spray-shelter/
When I just went to their site, they were listing 3 sizes.

No issues with flammable spray?? The link says not to use flammable paint, just asking... thanks
For that, I would refer back to the manufacturer's recommendations.

Nice setup for spraying inside
Easy set up and over-spray control is great! And for the price, it is a no brainer!
Awesome recommendation!!
Glad you think so!
I need to make a new spray booth
I wish I had a bigger one.
Do you know where I can get one of these tents from?
MARY SAMPA from Homeright
Woodcraft carrys them.
Looks like the "Homeright" brand doesn't even exist anymore. All I can find is a Wagner tent of the same design that's pretty widely available.
Wow, didn't notice that!
They discontinued the spray booth you have. I purchaed one on amazon and they send the smaller version that can't fit the box fan. Very disappointing.
Sorry to hear that. This has been a great product for me.
Do you have the link for the mask
It is a 3M mask: amzn.to/3e1fdeg (affiliate link).
I use a N95 Mask. There comfortable and safe, plus I can use mine several times before throwing it away and start using a new one.
I still wear a mask as well. This helps greatly in collecting the overspray floating in the air when you are inside.
@@jackjax532 You are absolutely right. I ended up switching to my 3M respirator with organic vapor filters.
Good vid. Audio doesn’t match up though
Interesting. I checked it on my phone and it was fine.
Started around 1:30. Might just be my phone
