UTAU is just a better program when it comes to clarity honestly. VOCALOID tends to have soft engine noise that muffles the vocal, but tends to make voices more natural than other programs, whereas UTAU has much more metallic noise that makes vocals clearer and allows for better expression, but also makes them distinctly less natural. Teto in particular has a really unnatural voice, since she was designed to sound like a Crypton VOCALOID, which are known for sounding inhuman, so it makes sense that she’s machine-like.
