    Great video as always.
    When CIG announced the new Cutter Scout I rembered your analysis when they talked about increasing the rear space without sacrificing any of the amenities. Let's hope they update the base version to carry at least 2 more SCU.
    Keep up the awesome content :)

      I had the same thought when I heard about the Scout :D
      If the base cutter had a few more SCUs and was a bit faster, it would be just great, I would have given it an 8 or 9; instead of 7.

    Completely agree. The 100i was my starter, and it was SO disappointing for the price. Even a "gold pass" on its current design wouldn't come close to justifying the price.

    "ORIGIN 100i: Stylish, but...a good starter?" Idk about you but remember the old days when the only option for picking a starter ship was either take an Aurora or a Mustang ?!🤣😂👌

    • @gioru5
      @gioru5  11 місяців тому

      And they were both broken, with the Aurora kicking you out of the quantum drive if you dared getting up the bed (I think it still does) and the Alpha having the cargo not accessible. Good old times :D

    Fair points but harsh rating. Setting aside the possible improvements, and the inflated pledge pricing, it's a great little ship and one of my favs to fly. That said I agree 100% that the base model should be long range touring (same with the base 300i) and all 3 need interior updates. Good vid.

    • @gioru5

    I like the concept of a luxury ship manufacturer such as Origin Jumpworks, GmbH. That being said, I've been disappointed by CIG's designs for that company. I've owned an 85x, a 315p, a 325a, a 400i, and a 600i Exploration model as well as all variants of the X-1 bike. I've melted or CCU'd most of that collection over the years. The 100i was never even considered, not because I don't need a starter ship in my fleet, I own several. I give them away with game packages to people I recruit into the game, or as contest awards. No, the 100i was never considered for the reasons GioRu5 mentions, they are just meh, uninspiring and without the comforts or luxury interior that makes it desirable to have over the more mundane Drake Cutter, or the more useful Avenger Titan. The only feature on the Origin 100 series that I like is the enhanced fuel scoop. It doesn't make up for the rest of the lacking features though. Anyway, the only Origin ships I consider worth retaining in my fleet are the 85x, the 400i, the X-1 bikes (not the rover) and the 890J. I will reconsider my opinion of the 600i when CIG releases the rework.
    GioRu5, please review the 85x. I love the little runabout though the Pisces has overtaken it in practical use.

      And what do you think of the new Gatac Syulen starter ship? It has a full living space, weapon racks but only a small amount of cargo capacity. However, they mentioned it is multi-role though not a master of any one career path. It carries a rumored 4 SCU of cargo, has a couple of gimbled size 2 weapons, some missiles, but is much larger than any other "starter ship" so it wouldn't do as a snub ship in, say, a Carrack or Odyssey hanger. Being a tall, upright ship, I don't think it would even fit into an Endeavor's hanger bay, nor, due to its' vertical landing methods and size, an Idris bay. Other than a Liberator or Kraken hauling it, this starter would have to fly between systems on its own refueling when there are stations or ships in range.

      Origin is such a disappointment...it has the potential to be my favorite manufacturer (I like the idea of luxury travel roleplaying, and I like stylish ships), but like you said, the only decent ships right now are the 85X and the 400i.
      Sorry to say this, but you were right to never consider the 100i, it is a useless ship today.
      Luxury in the game should be all about roleplaying, but how can you do that without amenities and top-notch interior design?
      I will definitely review the 85X, it is one of my favorite ships! I tried to cover all the starter ships first to help new players.
      But I admit that I feel the need to review something that is capable of high scores, and the 85X is perfect for that.
      I am seriously considering reviewing the 85X after the C8X (which is already in production).
      Thanks for your comments, they are always great to read!

    • @gioru5
      @gioru5  11 місяців тому +1

      @@quasadra I agree. Since the Cutlass (standalone) costs 110 today, the Syulen will cost even more for sure, 150$ is a good bet I think.
      Since it's a starter, a game package with the Syulen will almost certainly cost at least $200.

      Thank you so much Casey :)
      I hope so too, but I also hope that CIG does not take my videos the wrong way.
      I always have some trepidation about giving low ratings for fear of being branded as a negative and cynical youtuber.
      However, comments like yours encourage me, and in any case, I think it is important to express my disappointment in a constructive way about the policy of constantly releasing new ships at the expense of updating old ones.
      Even from a marketing point of view, I think it is a good practice to update old ships. For the following reasons: you have less work to do (since the ship is largely finished), you increase consumer confidence, and it is easier to introduce new gameplay mechanics.
      Consider Salvage: Before accepting a mission, many people check to see if the ship they are about to salvage is Gold Standard, so they can salvage components. I mean, why salvage an Avenger Renegade when you can salvage a Cutter?

      @@gioru5 Honestly, I don’t think you need to worry about giving the wrong message at all. There are a ton of Star Citizen ship reviewers on UA-cam, and a lot of them trash ships they don’t like because it’s a quick and easy way to make videos. You, however, not only balance your reviews with the positive aspects that work, you offer CONSTRUCTIVE criticism and, even more impressively, offer possible solutions. You are also incredibly insightful, pointing out the aesthetic and functional problems that most people are subconsciously aware of, but just can’t put their finger on specifically what is wrong. If I were a CIG employee, your ship reviews are EXACTLY what I would want to see, and that’s why I think you have the best ship reviews on UA-cam.

    The only thing TRULY wrong with the 100 series is its price. It should be Aurora-priced at most, with variants going up to LN price. Everything else would be fine at that price.
    Say its luxury, but its weapon and shields are half those of the cheaper starters and not much more agile than them either.

    • @johnboyd9713
      @johnboyd9713 11 місяців тому +1

      You are also right about the quantum tank as it is rare for a small ship to be able to use a VK-00 effectively, and that would make it a great runabout, even if it underperforms as anything but a shuttle. C8X is just better in most ways even then.

    • @gioru5
      @gioru5  11 місяців тому

      Thank you for your comment!
      Even if the price were aligned with the Aurora, the fundamental issues would still be there. The ship is marketed as a luxury touring vessel, but as you pointed out, it falls short of this mark, and this is even further exemplified by the recent Syulen (which I'm going to review soon, don't miss it!). The essence of luxury and the joy inherent in a touring vessel seem to be missing, which is a letdown regardless of its price tag.
      The high price makes this discrepancy more glaring.
      It's intriguing how the C8X, with its straightforward, utilitarian approach and lack of amenities, manages to outclass the 100 series by just fulfilling its intended role.
      I think that the 100i highlights the importance of a ship meeting its intended purpose and the expectations set by its design and marketing.

      @@gioru5 Yeah. I honestly think the 100 series was one of my first burns of being excited about a ship and it not living up to the hype. My first concept I ever bought was a Hawk, and I feel similarly about it that I do to the 100 series, but I have hope for the Hawk in the long run. The 100 series is "good enough" and I don't think there is going to be much changed about it except hopefully quantum tanks.

      @@gioru5 The Syulen, on the other hand, is one of their best new ships in years. Not by being op, but by being a compelling alternative at a good price point while also dripping with vibes.
      CIG seems to struggle with that, and new ships lately (Spirit *cough*) seem to be undertuned.
      My hot take is that the Drake Cutter is (slightly) undertuned too.

    Ah the 100i, it's not really ugly per se, but I just think it looks really boring, and the interior, as you already said, is also very bland and empty.
    Actually the 400i is the only Origin ship I like, I am just personally not really a fan of all the smooth lines and the luxury of Origin, my favorite will always be Drake.
    Again a great review, even if I already know most things about the ships of Star Citizen, your videos are always very enjoyable to watch.

      Origin is really a disappointment right now. Honestly, it has the potential to become my favorite manufacturer (I love the roleplaying idea of traveling the verse in a luxury ship), but like you said, the 400i is the only good ship right now. The 100i really sums up what Origin is today: all looks and no substance.
