The storytelling style of this movie is a true masterpiece. It hooks you in with the comedy and goes hard into the philosophical commentary in the end. Love how they had the balls to have hitler win in the end too. Not too many movies where the antagonist wins.
In my opinion Hitler is the protagonist in this movie. Protagonist doesn't always mean good guy and antagonist doesn't always mean bad guy. To me, protagonist means main character and antagonist is simply the main opposition. Protagonist and Antagonist should simply refer to the role of a character, not whether their personality, goals or intentions are in the side of good or evil
@@anm10wolvorinenotapanther32 The problem is that people have used protagonist and "good guy" togheter so much that the antagonist becomes "evil" by default, like walking dead where Rick's crimes are whitewashed or forgotten.
That silence you speak of was an actual tactic that Hitler used in all of his speeches. He'd pause, and draw everyone's attention. Sometimes for minutes on end with thousands looking to him...
Yes but its pretty unusual to pause for a minute since it will confuse the audience normaly its only below 30 sec ut most but ofc sometime its can beyond 30 sec but beyond that it's too long.
@@gamechanger8908 it would probably be even more effective now, imagine how uneasy and terrified folks would be if a speaker just went silent. Some would laugh but the truth is I think today it would be even more effective
it's honestly fascinating how good he was at public speaking. i'm sure many people learn from him -- just the public speaking part, i mean, is worth studying. i guess it is true that it was his fate to become... a notorious politician. definitely changed the world
One of the hardest movies to watch and at the same time an absolut brilliant one. You'll spend the first 30 or 40 minutes laughing your ass off and then it gets darker and darker and you'll have a hard time keeping a straight face. Believe me, if you are not totally stupid you will recognize the turning point and identify the message behind the movie. A must watch.
To me the turning point was when he was first on tv, and kept silent, and then started talking about the state of Germany. Nothing too spectacular, untill you see the people watching tv agreeing with him..... It became frightning when he was touring Germany and the kids all wanted to have a picture with him, and were shouting "Deutschland!!!". He is never far away...

Fun fact: in the beginning of the movie, you'd see H. waking up in a specific spot. This spot is where he was carried out after his demise in the Führersbunker in 1945, where his remains was burned by his bodyguard, and seen by Joseph Goebells (Reich's Minister of Propaganda) and Hitler's other officers.
The darkest part imo is that movie Hitler had enormous success with his speeches while the only person who saw the truth and tried to stop him ended up in a mental hospital.
@@TheAsheybabe89 Let's remove the extreme views...many people are sick of their countries being overrun with other cultures that don't respect their rules or culture. @@Dr.TJ_Eckleburg lmao, all these pathetic fascist kiddies. Stay in school, one day you might learn why fascist countries were all irredeemable failures
What an incredibly poor take. You just pretty much said "Hitler bad". (Edit, just to clarify I'm not coming out in support of Hitler, I'm Polish) This movie does more than reveal that some people hold opinions similar to Hitler. It reveals that EVERYBODY has a part of them that is just like Hitler, and that will follow a man like Hitler. It reveals that once certain conditions are met, humans can't help but look to a man who will set things straight with an iron fist. As such, it doesnt reveal something bad about white nationalism or the far right, it reveals how human priorities change with the conditions that surround them. Peter Thiels take on this is that democracy only works when the deal is "you get more and I get more". But in a stagnant world someone will start getting less. This will inevitably lead to the scramble to secure as much as possible. Thiel believes that in developed economies this takes the form of fascism, while undeveloped economies turn communist. Furthermore, the movie doesnt humanize Hitler. It just doesnt dehumanize him. He was a man who did what he did out of deep love for his people (tho this doesnt make his actions right). Seeing him with those simple human traits says more about cultures where he has become a comical byword for boogeyman, than anything else.
3:05 DEHUMANIZING Hitler is the biggest mistake we do and BTW what this movie tries to warn you about. It makes a point which everyone fears to admit: Nazis weren't monsters, they were people not diffrent than everyone of us. I have very little doubt that Nazism (or totalitarianism in general) would be as possible now as it was back in 1930's. It might look entirely different than you'd imagine, but our precious human rights and freedoms could be very easily flushed down the toilet.
The movie is a masterpiece, especially if you read all the behind the scenes articles of the actors and producers. They themselves say how surprised they were that only 1 person stood up against „Hitler“ while all the other people smiled and waved at him, and even agreed with all the racist stuff he said. There was also one scene they set up at a public viewing of a football game, where a paid actor hired by them was going around saying things like „fuck Germany, you suck, I hope you lose etc.“ and the guy playing Hitler deliberately provoked the crowd by saying things like „Are you just going to accept that?“. In the end they started to physically attack the actor and the film crew‘s security had to step in, otherwise they would‘ve beat him pretty bad. The whole crew was pretty shocked after that event. It‘s a bit sad that all of this behind the scenes stuff is in German, so a lot of people will be left out.
"History is just history based on history." This is basically what I can get off this movie and real events: there will always be moments in time where history kind of loops back on itself with the same general premise no matter what the hell happened before it. It's the turning point in this movie, *ahem*... recent events, and much more. It's a cyclotron.

Loved this movie. Its was great. Best part when he's in front of the Reichstag with the German soccer hooligans and a troll goes and starts to call them nazis. He tells the hooligans to do something about it and they start beating the guy up. Its a funny scene
The scene in reality isn't funny, the troll was an actor, the people attacking him quite fast because someone told them to was not done by actors. In fact people of the set had to intercede because they might have seriously hurt him.
I really want to add what I think about the film as I watched only a couple hours ago and everything's still fresh. What I feel is the the movie is extremely well done with it as the video says starting out as a bit more of a comedy then it starts to get a little more on the interesting side with his first speech on television and if you've watched the movie I presume you have if your here the first speech is very persuasive, and I just went damn, but after that went that was very good and decided to rethink it while going for a little walk and I'm glad I did, because I realized I was moved and agreed with that speech and by the time I had finished my walk I realize how in 5 minutes not even this man had persuaded hundreds of people, and that shocked me a little, even scared me. With this first paragraph I want to talk a little more about the end of the movie now we've seen how not even a clip of 5 minutes persuaded hundreds if not thousands of people, now if you watched not just the last ten minutes but the credits and after credits too you'll probably remember Mr. Adolf Hitler saying I can work with this, now I won't say what the complete ending is but there's a single bit of that movie where they show not cut and made scenes but ones of actual modern day Neo-Nazis or people who at least somewhat agree with them, a long with this I realized that there is a line between modern day Europe and 1930's Europe people are annoyed and protesting and rioting against the government and there is a line between these two Europe's, it is not a nice silver line that is easy to see, nor is it a blurred line, rather you can not see this line until you compare both Europe's and only then do you see that line but it is also only then that you realize the Modern Day Europe has crossed that line. This is why the saying; "History repeats itself like a ripple" Makes sense, it just doesn't make sense until you hear Hitler say, "I can work with this" and compare the two Europe's and realize there is not much difference. Now please don't hate on me I'm not a Nazi or anything but I know someones gonna hate on me I just simply wanted to add my opinion.
You really shouldn't have added that last sentence, your message was clear enough without that and if somebody assumed you to be a nazi for this then it's them who has a screw lose.
i watched this just a few hours ago as well, and i actually feel the same. look, i'm an asian (taiwanese) girl, i hate fascism, i'm definitely not anything even remotely close to a nazi. but i feel the same as you do. during his speech in the movie, even i was touched. and throughout the film i was kind of drawn to his character and even was sort of rooting for him in the beginning. like the youtuber said, the actor really did a good job playing the part and *humanizing* a person who is always referred to as a monster. even knowing all the horrific things he has done, we as humans can still be manipulated. how can we be like this anyway? how can we know history and yet when history repeats, we don't have the ability to stop it? sometimes it feels like this man has a magical power and the ability to really get inside your head and make you see what he sees. it is very scary. i'm just glad that our modern day fascist dictators (xi, putin, kim) don't have even a fraction of the power hitler had.
I personally see many similarities between now and before Adolf Hitler first rose to power, civil unrest, pandemic, war and conflict,as well as other racial issues, poverty public and political stupidity.

I find it odd that humanising Hitler is always considered a bad thing. To me, showing his ordinariness, rather that painting him as this 100% evil figure, as if he was somehow not really human, masks how potentially easy it is for people such as him to rise to power.
It's not a comedy It's the realization that Hitler was only a man and he thought like us and lived like us But most honestly He was voted in by those same people

You can get pork chops and beer in many muslim countries, especially for non-muslims. Radicalised nations are an entirely different ordeal altogether. I absolutely loved the book. it had so many funny parts and sentences, I couldn't read it on the bus, because I was laughing so badly. but also, the book was incredibly scary. terrifying. and now, watching some scenes from the movie brings that same amount of fear back. I almost chose history - WWII/propaganda as my subject at the university. I probably watched every single documentary and read a ton of books about the dictatures, propaganda etc. the first problem is, you get to like this character, who Timur has created. and then, the fact scares you. this Hitler, in the book/movie isn't the yelling monster that everyone warns you about, or the person you see in documentaries. and your brain just becomes confused entirely. you need to sit down and clear things in mind, and I actually do recommend it after watching either this movie, or The Downfall, which is another masterpiece. the way Hitler's character is built up in the story, is the scariest. what he says and the way he says it, is truly worrying. people could say "ah yeah yet another Hitler parody" but damn, this was something else. the only thing, which pulls me out of this agonization, is that the actor has brown eyes instead of the iconic blue eyes (if I can say that..) and there's many closeups about H. so basically, my brain kept telling me it's just an actor...

It’s amazing that every UA-camr who has done a review on this has comically missed the entire point of the movie. The true irony is, it’s UA-camrs like this, who think they’re so moral and above prejudice and hatred, who will be the first people to join history’s next Hitler
It's a bit on the nose but ngl it made me tear up a bit when the grandma recognizes Hitler. I think the film suffers from the liberal lens of assuming ideas alone illuminate people's thoughts or change their minds when fascism is a feature of our capitalist society, something Hitler paved the road for because of our colonial past 400 years prior.
*I made this on another video but thought I should share it here* My view on the ending. Not sure if this is the majority opinion or not, but here. So in the ending you have Hitler filming an adoption of his book, which at first I thought about what I was saying, then I realized, its propaganda, this movie was written by Hitler, a "master" at propaganda is it really so far fetched to believe he is trying to get the watcher to think about how democracy allowed him to become the evil dictator we know him for today? Is it so wrong to believe he uses these words to make people distrust elections and believe and trust Hitler? Alright but I am not done. Later on we see Hitler riding in a car, we see small clips of unrest riots protest, etc. He ends it off with "I can work with this". Now a few minutes ago he said he was in all of "us" or in Germans. Think about that, I see this as a warning of sorts. The unrest of today although not identical can be matched up to the unrest of the Weimar Republic, people saying the German culture and people are in danger, a clear sign of nationalism, and then Hitler earlier spoke about poverty, unemployment, etc, its clear he is planting Nationalist-Socialist ideas in the minds of the people, he is using this as more propaganda, he is trying to recruit people, almost like a virus, inserting itself in the mind of anyone who puts their guard down to say "Oh he is a comedian" then it infects the brain with racist and nazi ideals and make the person believe Hitler, and even worse, *agree* with Hitler. I think this movie is something trying to warn people about propaganda, and this can be applied to anything. Communism, nazism, any fascism of any kind, hell even democracy want you to believe they are a way of allowing the common man to be heard, when in reality it is nothing like that. Hitler sees the unrest, he causes unrest and amongst that unrest he tells everyone he will fix the problem, he feeds them lies and hatred and uses that to get them to agree with him and subsequently become leader. History repeats itself is said many times in this movie. And it is true. In the 2000s unrest is high all over the world, the media is constantly feeding lies and propaganda, on both left and right wing sites. We are falling for the same tricks. China still locks Muslims up in wannabe concentration camps, Russia continues to rig elections and exile anyone who can oppose Putin, India in a whole is getting worse and worse day by day. Europe is being fractured by nationalism and falsehoods that their culture is in danger by the migrants from Africa and The Middle East, The US can't even decide what leader it wants. The world is repeating the 1900s all over again and I view this movie as a warning if you will. I will not take a political stance in this at all, your political views are yours but I plead yoy be aware for the tactics of this propaganda. Thanks for reading. *Alright this is made section FOR this video.* So I don't have much to add, just a little hit more about the propaganda idea. So in the video the reviewer talks about the humanitarian of Hitler, now this was a bit of a controversy when the book and movie came out in 2015ish. Well I believe this goes in with the propaganda tactic. Hitler presents himself as an underdog just like in real life, Hitler makes himself seem more like a friend not at though as a racist lunatic who is the embodiment of evil. In the words of my friend who was parodying quote from a Roman Citizen in the sacking of Rome (1527) "I hope there are demons in hell, and not Nazis."
Exactly. As communism rises, nationalism will follow to rise against it, because people will then understand more than ever the importance of their true values, once they see what their lives would look like without them; thus, we shall never forget what truly matters in life.
I remember when I watched this, it starts as a comedy, definitely, then it gets edgier, darker, less polite... by the end you don't notice at what point it became almost psychological horror, it just... happens.
Nationalism has nothing to do with Hitler. Nationalism is "love of own nation"... Hitler represented "national chauvinism" (a belief that our nation is better than their nation). Dont be confused with patriotism becaouse patriotism is "love of own country" (Patria - country). Nationalism plays traditional role in opressed nations (by another majority - like Uyghurs are opressed in China). Anti-immigration beliefs also has nothing to do with Hitler (he was Austrian immigrated into Germany), his belief was Anti-semitism (hatred towards jews), anti-immigrant beliefs are about that what happened in Europe during immigrant crisis 2015. It was crisis. All laws (immigration laws) were broken and it caused panic (in part of society). Because European civilisation is build on the rule of law! It´s paramount. Everything other is other, but rule of law is most european thing what i can even imagine. Democracy is lesser value than rule of law, because democracy is based on rule of law. And breaking the law (by lifting borders for immigrants without any replacement, just like Merkel said "Wir schaffen das!") is not good. And never was. Far-right (and there is question what far-right is, because sometimes "far-right" means anybody who opposes or critises EU, Merkel, multiculturalism (which obviously dont work well) and so on) is for me Nazism or Fascism (corporate state ruled by one party which controls economy through corporations loayal to regime). And that´s it! These things are not about "well i am not happy that mass of people from nowhere (yeah Africa and Middle East are "nowheres" are flooding my country and i am maybe little bit scared how easily borders of my state .were ceased from existence because... somebody other thinks that its for our good. Do you see the difference? Thx. for understanding, this is not flame or hate... it´s just few notes for your closing words in video.

The storytelling style of this movie is a true masterpiece. It hooks you in with the comedy and goes hard into the philosophical commentary in the end. Love how they had the balls to have hitler win in the end too. Not too many movies where the antagonist wins.
What do you mean antagonist?
@@DavoidLife AH is the antagonist

In my opinion Hitler is the protagonist in this movie. Protagonist doesn't always mean good guy and antagonist doesn't always mean bad guy. Protagonist and Antagonist should simply refer to the role of a character, not whether their personality, goals or intentions are in the side of good or evil

Fun fact: in the beginning of the movie, you'd see H. waking up in a specific spot. What an incredibly poor take. You just pretty much said "Hitler bad".
(Edit, just to clarify I'm not coming out in support of Hitler, I'm Polish)
This movie does more than reveal that some people hold opinions similar to Hitler.
My thought exactly
Very well said

Amazing explanation
3:05 DEHUMANIZING Hitler is the biggest mistake we do and BTW what this movie tries to warn you about. It makes a point which everyone fears to admit: Nazis weren't monsters, they were people not diffrent than everyone of us. I have very little doubt that Nazism (or totalitarianism in general) would be as possible now as it was back in 1930's. It might look entirely different than you'd imagine, but our precious human rights and freedoms could be very easily flushed down the toilet.
They were under covid weren't they ?
People accepted loss of freedom for promisses of security quite easily
Exactly: most of them were what you would call «normal people». Under the Plan**mic normal people behaved absolutely despicable against the unva**d.
It happened with the lockdown.
Exactly
The last scene, when Hitler said "I can work with this" was scary, yet brilliant and well done.

Especially with the part about the German Shepherd breed being mixed out of existance. That part struck a chord, hell you can look up an interview between a british host and Muhammad Ali, Ali said he would never marry someone outside of his race because he wants a child to look like him and his mother. Unlike the traitors who are in national parlement and in the European parlement right now. They don't meet the people, don't speak with them, don't hug them, have no morals, no strong believes, no hope and no future for us. Just saw this movie. it’s scary how a modern day hitler can be easily implemented with the amount influence one person can have. If a strong influencer came up with manipulative words and unusual views with hidden wordplay one could say that a modern day hitler could be as easy as influence. And with the media we have today how easily an ideal can be broadcasted and shared...I don’t doubt it
I absolutely loved the book. it had so many funny parts and sentences, I couldn't read it on the bus, because I was laughing so badly. but also, the book was incredibly scary. terrifying.
and now, watching some scenes from the movie brings that same amount of fear back.
This movie is to show what if he come back to life or make the message to tell us.
And who will decide who's views get aired. You perhaps, the Young Communists?
Brilliant series!
Bruno Ganz would have been perfect for the Fürher role but still well acted, tons of jokes, I laughed so much 😄

I recommend a book\movie called The Fourth Wave where a California teacher in the 1980s teaches his students Nazi ideals as part of a social experiment. He doesn't teach racism or antisemitism but he does promote one group of students over another group. Slackers find purpose, the lost see a path, and leaders step up. The culmination comes when it is announced that the leader of the movement will appear in that school to deliver he message personally. The moment comes, the students are unusually silent and expecting something special. The teacher shows a film about the Nuremburg rallies and World War II. The children and faculty are shocked. Was it real?
*I made this on another video but thought I should share it here*
My view on the ending.
*Alright this is made section FOR this video.*
So I don't have much to add, just a little hit more about the propaganda idea.
In the words of my friend who was parodying quote from a Roman Citizen in the sacking of Rome (1527)
"I hope there are demons in hell, and not Nazis."
