We love putting big signs on our walls, whether they're ones that came with a kit or ones that you print from your home printer. This technique is the same whether you make and print custom signs or use the ones from the kits.
The great thing about this technique is that by sanding the paper signs super thin, it shows a ton of wall detail that you would otherwise lose if left unsanded.
The rip gives it some real life wear and tear character.

Awesome technique. What is the siding made of?
It's actually made from cut up thin chipboard, just sponge painted to look worn and rusted & weathered the way it appears. Thin like a cereal box thickness cardboard, and cut into scale sizes about 4'x8' to scale.
@@WileysScaleModeling ,thin chipboard, when you say chipboard do you mean MDF or OSB boards?
@@seanspennywisemiserrr Yeah, when we reference chipboard we're just talking about cardboard... Basically it's the cheap cardboard that cereal boxes are made from.

Do you use laser or ink printer for those sign? I guess that ink printed signs will be pretty messed up when wet.

We actually use an inkjet! Ours doesn't run much and we think it's because it's a heavier glue than water mix.

I've not yet try to sandpaper down the signs. But I tried printing on silk paper, a technic that Luke Towan/ boulder creek railroad used in a Video.
