Some call it "bo", some call it "bo staff". No matter what you call it, it's how you use it that counts. The techniques he uses are what all the creative kata/form folks are doing, so he is great at it. Watch a more traditional bo kata at a karate-do tournament, and it will be quite different. I can't see why somebody would criticize Jackson, he is the best at what he does. I always figure that most people criticize things because they are jealous they can't do it.

How long is your staff, and how heavy is it roughly? Im making myself a 'smart' Bo
Kurt Mankenberg The longest version of the staff in this video is 72”, and it weighs about 12 oz. Most of the bo we have are available in a variety of lengths. The heaviest bo we have is the Hardwood Bo, which is about 2 lbs.
It a Bo not "bo-staff" or Kun. Saying Bo-staff is like saying car-automobile. Nice baton twirling, not kobudo.

Train Kukishin-Ryu. I sincerely doubt the Chinese-or the Japanese, for that matter "spun the staff into the air and caught it before executing a strike-or twirled the staff behind the back.

He does a performance based martial art called xma or extreme martial arts. It’s meant to mimic what you see in movies so fucking chill. if you wanna look up traditional bo-staff or whatever u wish to call it then look somewhere else and let him teach.
