Quinceañera parties in Latinamerica are as expensive and as big as a wedding. They are planned at least for 1 or 2 years before the girl turns 15 and the parties are MASSIVE. There's tons of food, tons of music, tons of dancing, tons of people. And EVERYONE is invited. EVERYONE, even people you don't personally know get invited to your Quinceañera hahaha It's one of the most important celebrations for any latin teenager. I personally choose not to have a Quinceañera, but I remember my friends' Quinceañeras were so much fun.
@@AlejandraOzornia wow i didn’t know.....but why would they do it? If it’s a Mexican tradition originated from rituals of the mexica/Aztec culture in what is nowadays Mexico City?
It actually isn't THAT important in every mexican teenager girl life. There are a lot of girls who don't even want a Quinceañera party. But yeah, it is still very common as it's a tradition :)
See my comment above, that would be a great idea! there's definitely a variety of themes regarding the dresses themselves, how many couples and location, and more.
as a latina, quinceañeras are way better than prom, prom is all about pictures, quinceañeras are about celebrating a girl’s 15th birthday that’s planned like a wedding, and I’m saying it takes so much time, effort, money but it’s worth it, I had my 15th 3 years ago and it was so fun and I’m thankful for my parents dedication for everything:)
They are completely different celebrations. Prom dance is fun because none of the relatives are there, just students of their age. 15 bday celebrations sometimes can be very bored, it depends to whom the parents want to invite, the whole vejentorio in the family or just young people.
Aww, is there anyone else who wants to buy Kiwoong all the presents, throw him a party and wish him a happy birthday? 😭 (apologies for spelling his name wrong, I've hopefully corrected it)
Yes, I wanted to throw a party for both of them and get them great gifts, they seem like amazing kids. But that got me when she said she would thank her parents, and he said his parents never gave him gifts. I wish there was something we could do. 😞
The Quince parties are BIG deal. Family usually start saving years in advanced but around 12/13 is when “Okay, time to see how big and direction you want to go see how much $$.” Dress shopping is exhausting and specially when your tiny. My dress had to be shorten and taken in at the waist, glad I chose it 4 months in advanced. Inviting family is huge, specially the ones out of state/country.
There’s also a similar celebration as the quince which is when we turn 3 called our “Presentación” not many families celebrate it now but some still do.
I had one of those, I don’t remember much but I have a bunch of pictures of it with my family in Mexico and me wearing a beautiful dress that was white and even a tiny flower bouquet lol my hair was done up in a beautiful bun looking hairstyle with a little coronet around it…also that day they celebrated my confirmation so maybe that’s why they also went so extra on everything lol. Supposedly in my religion kids first get baptized then their first communion then the confirmation but I did baptism confirmation then first communion cause in Mexico you were able to do the confirmation at a young age before apparently.
It's interesting. Wearing fancy dresses like that are pretty exclusive to prom and quinceneras. Or like they mentioned, awards shows. As an adult I can't imagine a situation where a woman (except maybe her wedding) gets to wear clothes like that. So wearing them is a very "adult" version of dress up for girls. My daughter wore a huge ballgown with an crazy full skirt stuffed with tulle when she was 10. For Halloween. Dressed as a fairy godmother.
Do a video of Korean girls trying on these dresses! Specifically the ballgowns!! It would be such a cool experience. *edit: I’m from Puerto Rico and had a beautiful Quinceañera and I believe everyone should have one no matter the culture. It’s such a memorable day where you celebrate with friends and family. The dress is a bonus so I still stand by my opinion that it would be amazing if these girls could try one on 😊
Those are Quinceanera dresses. It’s a Mexican tradition, an honourable and special right of passage with many traditions and meanings. They should not do that until they learn all of them, and the meaning, and the weight of them.
i hope he's not too sad about it and it's not that serious :( it's not weird for me because my parents don't give me birthday presents either, they do buy things for me during the year, give me money to hang out with friends, etc. in my family, we think of those things as presents. that's why we don't really care about presents on our birthdays. maybe it's something like that, i hope so :(
A video on all the milestones in a Korean life, and how you mark them, would be interesting. 🥰🥰🥰 Quinceañera, and Prom are kind of a way to mark your entrance into "adulthood". Like for prom, we dress up, eat a fancy dinner, our parents take pictures, professional pictures are also taken at the prom, (which you can buy later) etc. I know from kdramas, lol, that there's a special soup when someone gives birth in Korea. So what other ceremonies, or traditions do you guys have?
Not so much prom, but quinces yes as one thing that marks adulthood is the dance, for my quince I had the “ ultima muneca “ - “ the last doll “ from my mom and it was to symbolize that you’re not a little girl anymore, you’re slowly growing into an independent young lady
I was an introvert girl, i wasn't comfortable about a quinzeañera party so, i ask for a computer instead of a dress or a party 😎👍 i had a cake, my first and only computer and a homemade lunch with my cousins 😅👍
