Yet Wentz only had one great season - and was way less proven, but they decided he deserved the starting job no matter what with LESS evidence that he deserved a starting job. Him being on his rookie contract is another reason it made ZERO sense. They assumed he couldn't/wouldn't be a one season wonder, while brushing another guy off as being just that at the same time. And they signed him to a new contract TWO years before his rookie contract was up (those things last for 5 years). They had an entire year to evaluate everything - Foles, Wentz's development, Wentz in the face of competition and adversity, but they decided "Nope, we've seen all we need to see, and won't bother with looking any longer" when it wasn't necessary.
And Foles on other teams isn't the same as Foles with the Eagles. His record and stats were better than Wentz's with the Eagles (including with the same roster).
Wentz has proven so little and yet is admired by so many for his supposedly possessed qualities. It's bizarre, really. He was a big fish in a small pond, and then did well on a loaded roster for one year in the NFL.
