I've never read this book. I did see this movie. And the first scene of the movie is just an offensive piece of trash. The guy who played Belushi did his best. The movie was such trash. And definitely an obvious fictional movie.

I feel Wired was the start of exposing Hollywood for the not so glamorous scene we all thought it was,no wonder Hollywood hated the book and did not want that movie nade. Look today whats happening with Hollywood today. We are hearing stories about child exploitation, drug enabling, sex trafficking and murder, for decades it was all overlooked.and Wired was the start.

One thing good that came out of this is, Micheal Chiklis did after a while became a successful actor in his own right. Its just sad that right after this movie he had a hard time finding another gig until Burt Reynolds introduced himself and helped him,i thought for a moment at one point comparing Chiklis to Val Kilmer when two years later Kilmer would portray Jim Morrison in Oliver Stone's The Doors, but the only comparison is both actors portrayed two entertainers who shot to fame too soon and died at a very young age due to the excesses of fame and both movies painted them as horrible people due to the drugs but however the huge difference is before The Doors movie and after Val Kilmer was already an established star where Michael Chiklis before and after Wired was trying to get his feet wet in Hollywood and i say, Micheal is an awesome actor and he's awesome in anything he does and he has come a long way since Wired and I wish him Godspeed and hope for more in the future. Just turn down bio pic projects if there about Sam Kinison, Chris Farley or John Candy. No Micheal No! We all love you and want to see more of you,God bless Micheal.

They've yet to make a good movie (great documentaries). No great movies yet. Wired be the only movie. What a stinker.

I'm sorry to say. But Michael did the scenes and read the book obviously before taking the roll. He knew he was defamating John's character. Or was he? I felt it was very offensive.

I've not seen the movie but have read the book many times and it's fantastically written and totally absorbing. If the narrative is true and I've no reason to doubt it, then I can see why these Hollywood elite hate it. There are key figures in John's life that are totally complicit in his demise and they know it. Could anybody have ultimately saved him? Maybe/probably not but you can't help wondering that more effort could have been made rather than shovelling endless cash at him to keep him out of their offices. John was a force of nature, immensely talented but directionless and needed better guidance. A terrible waste.

Why was Cathy Smith given such an easy ride for administering ELEVEN speed balls? She -effectively- killed him.

Best way to look at it is probably how Aykroyd put it. You couldn’t say no to John.
