The MV is highly symbolic and is widely believed to pay tribute to the mostly-teenage victims of the Suwol Ferry tragedy. It wasn’t officially confirmed, probably bc at the time artists and other public figures could still have been black listed and/or otherwise penalized for speaking up about the incident. Save Me has a “sister song” titled I’m Fine. It’s very cool to watch live performances of them one after the other.
i agree with most of your comment however it has been confirmed by many people including jin and pdogg but even if they didnt confirm it majority of koreans including the victims families already said they believe the song and music video was for the victims so its not speculation if the families themselves see it as a tribute. but we do have somewhat confirmation from jin and pdogg they can never say "this is about this" because it can be dangerous as some government people involved have gone unpunished to this day but they did agree with the interviewer when he said "this is a song about a sad event" jin said "as you said its a song about a sad event but its also about longing" basically confirmed it without directly saying the words for obvious reasons.

Jin only said “it is connected to a sad event” (in response to the journalist’s question about “a specific event”). Both RM and SUGA stated in the tribute to Pdogg that they wrote the song from their own experience with the loss of friends - SUGA saying “hasn’t everybody experienced that” and RM saying he wrote the lyrics while at Yeouido Park and thinking about friends once dear to him that he lost when he moved to Seoul to join Big Hit. I think it would be most accurate to say what RM was once quoted as saying - that the song can be interpreted in many ways. The MV, however, appears to more clearly be a tribute to the tragedy.

@@teebeee5832 I don’t *have* to read between the lines at all. Doing that is what gets us fans in trouble and leads to rumors, misinterpretations, and outright false information. I have literally seen Korean speakers disavow your interpretation of what Jin said about the song, that it wasn’t an accurate translation given the context. Also, he may only have meant the song was tied to ANY sad event…or only tied to the tragedy by way of the MV rather than the original inspiration for the song. Perhaps the tragedy inspired RM and SUGA to think about their own losses, even, but that doesn’t mean the song is actually about the tragedy. We can’t be sure unless and until they speak directly on it.

They have a behind the scenes for that song to, so you can see how they shot the video in the one-take. The song symbolizes the Sewol Ferry Tragedy that happened in Korea in April 2014 where hundreds of students passed away due to the captain’s negligence among other things. The MV is beautiful and full of symbolism. It is very strongly suggest to watch either the Italian ARMY explanation video or some watch Bulletproof Vibes version. The Italian ARMY has a lot of detail which is why it is preferred. But grab some tissues b/c it is very heartbreaking. Thank you again for your fun reactions! Some other good videos are Idol (DKDKTV has an explanation video for this, again BTS is great at their hidden meanings and they explain it from a Korean’s perspective since we don’t know the culture and history). Just a clarification that the SONG was not written about the ferry tragedy. Both RM and SUGA have stated that the song was written about missing friends (RM spoke specifically about losing friends once they became famous). The MV is what is (probably) tied to the tragedy through the symbolism in it. Not to nit pick, but it’s an important distinction that a lot of people don’t know or understand.
When you do Spring Day, please dig into the analysis. This song is tied inextricably to the Sewol Ferry Disaster. Look at the video and the breakdown of its imagery. It is a beautiful song and very important to ARMY. But it was also a very powerful and brave statement by BTS about what happened. Crying a little today watching. These men have saved my life.

please react to spring day music video but when you do please also react to "what you still dont know about bts spring day" by italian army and pause as you need while watching this video. spring day is VERY deep and i mean its one of if not the deepest songs bts has. its very heartbreaking and you wont be able to understand without this video. as it pertains to a tragic incident in korea. bts risked being blacklisted by their government for this song along with their song am i wrong because the government was trying to cover up the tragic event. if the italian army video still leaves you with questions i highly suggest reacting to rotten mangos video on the Sewol. italian army does the parallells for the music video and the tragic event but she doesnt cover all the details of the tragic event so imo all 3 videos are needed to fully get the grasp of the situation the music video, the italian army video and the rotten mango video. some may recommend a shorter video but that video does not cover even 3 % of what actually happened so please react to these three i mentioned. 💜💜

Spring Day was not made during Covid, but this Tiny Desk was. Spring Day is from 2017 and has a very deep meaning to it. This story was in response to the tragedy of the Sewol Ferry, but they interlinked it with their BTS Universe and those videos really should be watched in order as they together they tell a story.
