I used the Amazon spacers for over 2 years. I used the red loctite and torqued them down. I believe I just set the brake to torque them. And my tires are filled and I use crow bar to set them up on the hub. These spacers are not hub-centric and I would not use them on my jeeps. But for this small tractor they should be fine.
Are you using the same Titan brand Amazon spacers or another Amazon brand? I was thinking red, but honestly this is my first time using thread lock so I went blue and also paint penned them for a visual check. The break probably would have worked, but I like having the torque wrench in a consistent position so I don't "torque" my back. Crow bar, what a great idea! After many years with a crappy one, I upgraded 2 years ago to a bar that would definitely work for this job. I'll give that a try next time. Thanks!
How do you like the wheel spacers ? Can you tell a difference stability wise ? Also, did you use the 26mm thread length on the new lugs ? And are your tires filled ?
I purchased 30mm length which was longer than needed, but cheaper than the 26mm at the time. You know how Amazon prices fluctuate randomly for no apparent reason. Also, my rear tires are filled. It definitely feels more stable on the hills, but not so much that I expect it will ever magically save me from rolling over. It's just a tiny bit of margin from what I can tell. Still worth it though for a little extra safety.
No, you have to look at the hub bore too like I mentioned in the video. Look at the Titan site again. The black finish is currently sold out, but they have 2" spacers in stock that are identical to what I purchased except with a silver finish. There are also 1" versions on Amazon that are in stock.
I think 2" is plenty, and I almost wish I would have only done 1.5". There is some extra axle strain, especially if you are carrying around a lot of rear ballast or a backhoe attached nearly all of the time. I look at spacers as a way to add a small amount of safety margin. It's not preventative IMO or to be used in place of loaded rear tires, proper rear ballast, carrying front loader loads low to the ground, etc. I have another video showing weights and ballast to give you an idea of the amount of weight present on the rear axle. Oh, and the wider wheel stance also sling more mud up on the side of the tractor if that matters to you.
This is point that many people argue. They say the front axle is the pivot during rollover, so adding rear spacers does virtually nothing. I think this argument is based on the idea that the source of a rollover is going to be your loader bucket being too high and heavy. To your question, front spacers should help some but most people don't do that because of the strain on the front axle and axle seals. Watch my other video showing weight distribution and ballast. It shows that about 60% of the tractor weight is on the front axle even with an empty bucket.
Oh and on the belly mower comment, I don't have a mmm, but I believe others have said that 2" works but 3" is too much. Not sure if that varies depending on whether you have a 54" or 60" belly mower.
These thing are in widespread use with no reports of issues across multiple sub compact brands, so it's a risk for each owner to weigh. I'm curious though, did you dealer talk about actual reported issues and issues specific to warranty? I can't imagine that the entire tractor warranty would be an issue. Wheel spacers have nothing to do with things like the hydraulic pump or engine for example. I personally am considering wheel spacers as a seasonal item only for use with chains to provide more clearance, but I haven't decided yet.
Any reply to my previous question? Did the dealer talk about specific reported issues they have seen and what specifically on the warranty would be "voided" if you use spacers? Lots of people use these spacers without issue, so the evidence for them not causing harm over a broad range of tractor types and brands is overwhelmingly positive. Not saying the risk is zero, but it seems to be almost negligible vs the slight added benefit of some additional stability.
You are not alone. If I were one of those guys who worked their tractors really hard, 2" would worry me more. For me though, I don't have a MMM or 3 point mower or really any implement that even uses the PTO shafts. The hardest implement I use is the box blade. 1" spacers may still be in my future or I may just take them off completely except for in the winter. On the other hand, lots of people have spacers up to 3" and I'm not seeing instances of cracked transmission housings or busted rear axle seals on either the GC or BX forums.

Yes, its 2024 and I understand fully that many people can not resist the urge to critique other peoples actions. This is the world we live in. An entire video centered around the concept of trying to help other people with product selection and you're focused on the fact that the 2 times prior to this video that I went to the store looking for that 22mm socket, the shelf was empty.

Thanks for putting these videos together, they’re very helpful. How are the spacers holding up after a year or so?
No issues. I checked bolt torques and pen marks a few weeks ago and everything is still tight.

@Redneck it's some off the wall brand on there. Its cnc made out of T6 aluminum. Good video as always. Looks like we do allot of the same things.

You will void the warranty on the 1723 I asked my dealer about spacers before since I have uneven land. Hopefully it works out for you.
