Williams System 11 Cyclone MPU - U10 Error Repair and Test
System 11 software can sometimes correctly identify the failure of a 6821 PIA. In this case, the 6821 had actually failed. It is possible though, that the software will flag a 6821 PIA when the real issue is the ability to access and control the 6821. Access requires that all three chip selects are working properly.
The 6821/6532 chip tester shown in the video was made by NeoLoch. Unfortunately, that tester is no longer being sold. I purchased this one as a kit many years ago now.

Is this a test rom you're using to get the u10 PIA failure message? I suspect my U10 is bad and am going to pull it this evening to test as the sounds that it controls do not work but the sounds from the sound board work fine. If there's a hidden diagnostic menu I cannot find it on my game. Earthshaker.

I wasn't using a test ROM. The later WMS ROMs are better at flagging issues. WhirlWind is a good one to try.
