This was on my sisters album. I used to sing this with such passion during my teens when I suffered years of abuse. After marriage I didn't hear it again and forgot about it. Then this week as I finished the final draft of my book being published soon, a friend came to stay and played it to me. Memories came flooding back and I sang it again with the same passion. The words are so true, Jesus never did let me go, He carried me through, now I can help others. Thank you SteD- had to youtube it!
As old as this Is. It’s on my gospel playlist and listening in 2018! Grew up with Amy Grant as a child. I think I Found this track A lot later down the road and still love it! Connects be back to Christ’s amazing love each time plus with the nice chords make it even more likeable to me 😀 Thank you- ha after posting this comment I can see my last comment 3years ago!!! The truth and power of the lyrics still remain and are everlasting!
Amy is simply perfection here. Her vocal strength and dynamics are awesome. The best vocal performance of her career, and that's saying a lot.(IMHO) She also looks absolutely stunning. Her hair is just fantastic.
I had forgotten how pretty she was! She sounds great live here too. I'm from Nashville and was heavily exposed to her music back in the 1980's. Truth be told, I was not a huge fan of hers. Her father, however, was a brilliant oncologist and was my best friend's doctor when she was diagnosed as a teenager. He literally saved her life and she is now 56 and has been cancer free since 1987. I remember when Amy was just a small bleep on the radar of early Contemporary Christian music and would go see her sing before she was a huge star. In those days, she was just a normal pretty girl with long hair and an average voice. The Straight Ahead album would come out some 7 plus years after her first album and it was huge. Half of it was recorded in Nashville and the other half pretty much in Hollywood. That is why this song and others on the album had such a different sound from the rest of Christian pop back then. It was a mix of both of the best Christian and secular musicians and production team you could ask for back then. Dann Huff does the guitar solo on the original recording of this song. If you don't know his name, google him and you will see that he has literally worked with everyone in music. This album was expertly made with tons of money and talent that most Christian artists could only dream of retaining. That aside, I hope that this song and the entire album has reached countless people with the truth that we all need Jesus!
Love this song so much love amy grant songs so much one if not the best female singer ever very beautiful sweet soul love this song so much ☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️☺️😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇😇✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️✝️❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
I could REALLY use the HONESTY- if you really love Jesus- truth WITH trusting.. Is trying you and I NEED to begin with. That IS Jesus! No false games does Jesus PLAY.. Where do you HIDE your HEART? AMEN?
Well, Holihan plays well ... and I forget the keyboard fellow's name (synth player, may have to go look it up). But Dann Huff played such a great solo on the studio version ... like, 8 bars of pure perfection. It is a good song, but here, with the "dueling band members" thing, it's kinda like it was just a vehicle to have fun. My $.02....

Love this song 💯
I had the VHS tape and learnt how to slap the bass guitar by listening to this live concert
Every Christian guy in my college/career group wanted to marry Amy. We all went into mourning when she got married.
I'm not surprised. 😂😂😂
Wow. This was great. There is probably no such music nowadays. And seeing M.W.Smith like that makes me laugh! :-D Thanks for the video
Ooooh that Gibson guitar solo ❤
O solo de guitarra é show!

First album I ever bought.
@bioit2003 She has. She's been touring with MWS doing many of the "older" Christian songs from her early career.
I knew Amy was talented, but I didn't realize how cute she was/is ........ very "girl next door" cute.....

Simpli the best
Lots of folks I'd like to ask this to these days :/
That's a mean guitar solo :)
Daniel Pyle mmhmm
Jake Holihan, maybe? The duo with synth is interesting too. But the studio version with Dann Huff is a real face-melter ... #Hot
@@renaissongsmann8889 .. I think it's James Hollihan... He also played on The Imperials Live Album.
The original studio version guitar solo was great but this one backed up by the synth and slapped bass makes it stand out more❤❤
growly amy in da house! ;pp
@ceri64 where is the book and what is the name of it?

My $.02....
godmis not America he is god of the whole earth
Sorry, but I just see no conviction in her eyes. She's just singing words.
not up to any of us to judge her
Lol she must be possessed
Hide a heart?
Try that bush on her head.
Shirine and your hair is covered??
