A SNIPER'S TALE

- "Life is about choices. In spec ops, it's choices that define you."
This is a narrative about an elite sniper who is in a compromised position and must choose between two hard choices, stay and provide overwatch for his unit or bug out and save himself. In these final moments he sees only one memory, the mission that got him into this elite unit.
Disclaimer:
This is the thesis project for my digital cinematography degree. This project had to stay within the policy and guidelines concerning excessive violence on screen dictated by the university. Therefore, I chose the dramatic versus action format for this film. All the violence depicted in this film is by implication only.

Thanks for this vid. It reminds me of a time a while back now out training in the scrub. I was standing, and looking directly at a sniper. He was about 3m away but could not see him. Even though I knew he was 'somewhere', for some reason I was fixated on another more 'obvious' target. After 10 min - 15 min, the guy stepped forward and said boo. I think I let a little poo out. Yes patience is the greatest weapon and a weapon even good and technically accurate movies can never quite master.
Being a retired Marine I can apreciate any film on a military subject. This is by far some of the best work I have seen on youtube. The story has a feel that only a veteran could create, and told in a manner that only a veteran could tell. It has the grittyness that could only come from real experience carrying a pack and rifle. THIS IS A JOB WELL DONE!!

Thank you for your feedback. From the veterans and non-vets on this project, we thank you for your service. I am former Navy and served in a fleet air reconnaissance unit. My buddy, the military advisor on this project, is a former Army Ranger with four combat tours under his belt. We tried to get as close as we could to Mil-spec without going over time and budget.

You guys are great. All your projects absolutely fantastic and realistic. I hope you can create a lot more military related films.
Best regards,
Abin Mathew
The tone of voice of the narration made watching this relaxing not to mention all around well done. good job my friend...
That was an awesome documentary! I salute all men and women in the arm forces. Your dedication, bravery, patience and sacrifice will not go un-noticed. Thank you very much for your service. God bless!

Beautiful job. You captured a realistic perspective. I look forward to more work from you.
Joseph Nichols welcome
A great watch. Top job emptycanfilms. I look forward to seeing more from you guys in the future.
I want to say what a magnificent job you did with your production. I was glued to the screen the whole time. I honestly had to laugh at the critics who had issues with the sniper barely being seen here or there. You have to show the sniper somewhere during the movie to know there is some reason for even watching. Otherwise what would be the point watching something that you can't really see...lol. Also... IT'S A MOVIE for Pete's sake! I have to give it a AAA+ rating. Thanks for sharing it with our UA-cam community. Looking forward to your future productions you'll be creating as well. Thanks again.
As a veteran I have to say, this was very accurate and exceptionally well shot.
Love your sense of humor - "exceptionally well shot" indeed! Pity about the way he waves a torch around at the start mind, tells everybody where he is! On a normal night you don't need extra light outside - there is enough as it is!
Haha I like this as a future sniper i like to look into the training and I liked how at the end the entire story changed really nice job
Pretty darn good work. I usually pick these things apart but in this case it would only be nitpicking. Good job!
Awesome video. A acquaintance of mine was a USMC sniper. He enjoyed what he did being out in the jungles dealing with the elements.
I really liked this video. I am only a civilian, but I am pretty much in love with the military. Especially and kind of sniper. I really liked the pot twist at the end.

Hi
Hdru
This video is awesome!! Great job guys, fantastic
Sacrifice is the most challenging test...What are you willing to give up to win...Great words indeed..👊👊
Hats off!!!#snipers#Respect!!
To have the patience and courage to get face down in the mud & dirt, to blend in while at the same time dealing with the elements, poisonous snakes, and other critters, while staying focused on the mission and the shot, is just mind-boggling to me!

Excellent short film set within SOCOM parameters. The *hoops you must jump thru in this PC correct (in their eyes) university's BS regs.* Been down that road myself. Great music near the end.
Well done! A few operational and gear errors but all in all, a great little film!! Big thumbs up from me!!
Love the fact it was the sniper test, not a combat film!!!
Outstanding again,. Excellent photography!!! Keep up the good work!
you guys need to continue with Frost's sniper missions!
Great little film. Well done.
Great job here, the best depiction of the life of a sniper
Great feel through this whole video. You really captured this well. Awesome videography and shot composition too. Even the scripting was great!

this short movie can teach you how to be a really sniper .and to get the target . many thankfull uploader
That was a nice little video. I enjoyed it a lot. It'd be a nice intro to a movie. But of course you'd likely do something other than the animations. Still a lot of fun watching.
Nicely done!!!
This was really cool and very well done. Good job!
Is the best film army... Thank you very much
Awesome enjoyed it!!
When I was young my dad would take me deer hunting with him. The result.of it was that I feel in love with deer hunting. He never taught me how to hunt from a stand saying it's not truly one on one. Instead he taught me how to stalk my pray. My dad was a big man. He stood 6' 4" tall and around 215 pounds. I stood in awe at how quietly and patiently he moved threw the woods. Pains takingly slow. It was very hard for me at first, and if I were to make a mistake he'd give me a look that sent chills down my spine. As I grew I became very adapt to this style of hunting.and as an adult, I became very good at it too. I almost never hunted from a deer stand unless it was requested by a property owner or something to that effect. I've killed many deer in my life. More than anyone I've ever hunted with. Including my dad. And the vast majority of deer killed were the result of the painstakingly slow, quite, patient stalking technique. Many times in my life it surprised the heck.out of me that I was able to get so close to an old buck before I snuffed him out. I'm too old and beat up now days. And my patience has grown to thin to hunt in that Manor. But any veteran deer Hunter will tell you it's next to imposible to get as close to a white tail deer as I have in my life. Sometimes I think I may have missed my calling and would have made a jam up sniper. I taught my boys to hunt in the same way over the years, but they were never quite as good as their old man. Good video. I enjoyed it very much.
Good to know…
Isn't deer hunting illegal?
ttt
Your dad are asshole, why he hunt innocent animals 😠
.
Was training sniper , not really mission .thanks for posting ( ARVN veterans)

This is amazing 😉
Good job on the production of this film being a Medical Retired Marine I can remember the speeches that was given to the class for indocs. Listening to the stories if a few.
Really cool & brilliantly shot clip.
No action in the video. I was expecting some, but this video was incredible! I felt like i was watching a AAA film. Great job!
اذكرو الله وصلو على النبي المصطفى المختار❤️❤️😍😍

Without blood and dropped bodies... it's a very good job to make it joyable. I love it
Awesome video really cool.
dope his scope dial on personal equipment I like how he's having flashbacks of sniper training the last part stalking but you take two shots after your instructors hold up a card that you can read it then you take your shot
Top,aí sim que é um snap de verdade.
Good job sniper!
This was really cool,i liked it. There we're some shoots i wondered what the hell he was doing but given the explanation i can see why they choose to go that route. It isn't a documentary, it is a film.
Every person lives a different reality in this world.. respect to all that go through this life without goin thru suicide
emptycanfilms great job i serve in the military and this was as close and realistic as anything i have seen on youtube but i am looking forward to more videos from you
Thank you Ellius for your feedback and service. Half of the team that worked on this project, including myself, are veterans as well.
As a US Marine veteran, I respect this guy who took on the job as a sniper and executed the position that he was given...
Hey fans. Thank you so much for your time, consideration and comments. We apologize for not making another military-based project in a while, but we've had scheduling conflicts. Our schedules have been slowly realigning, so hopefully we'll be able to make another project in the coming year (2015). Happy Holidays and we hope you all have a fantastic New Year.
+emptycanfilms nice video bro...

field craft, markmaship and tactical these 3 if you combine you'll become a great scout sniper💪🏼
Great video. It was like an intense action movie but shorter.

Thank you going to all our Snipers
You are the reason for us winning Any wars I believe that in my heart.
Wishing you all much safety and prayers for your return home in one piece, every one of you brave men! A'ho
Wanna say i loved this film.
Excellent. Simple and complex.
The film is just cool
A relative of mine went through sniper training back when Carlos Hathcock was still an instructor in the sniper program. Hathcock's biography, "Marine Sniper" shows just how steady these guys have to be and as mentioned in this video, how impossible some of the missions were. A great read about one of the men who helped shape the sniper program.
Perfect ..minunat ..urmaresc ..
this is very cool for a thesis project. well done. i enjoyed it very much. well thought out.
Excelente
As a Veteran I totally appreciated the movie. Yes it was fake BUT very well done and good storyline. I thought it was good. Who cares about what the haters say, there's always going to be haters about something lol. Keep up the good work y'all!
yeah. love it
I like sniper movie...like this and two thumbs for it...;)
Wow discipline is the greatest key to anything you do and you require in love life without discipline no life
this video and story line is brilliant , long life to the Marksman 5* /;)
Respect from Philippines
I watch this over and over again i love it thumb up if you do
As a sniper.. You must make two decisions. Take the shot, or let them pass.
Great film I'm not sure I feel the same way about the snipers philosophy.
Good One ... I love it !
Thumbs up..Keep up the good work!
To live or not to to live that is the question
My respect best of the best film (y)
These men are without a doubt the best trained warriors in the military. Jim Land, Carlos Hathcock really did revive the scout sniper outfit in Vietnam to the highest level possible. I noticed that the brass was the 300 win mag and I believe that the scope reticle wasn't the milrad made by Schmidt and Bender model pm Ii L/P... Other than that, the program was Dead- On! Semper Fi
Amazing video. Well done.
Класс.Super***Thank
For some strange reason this is what I watch for motivation to join the army even tho I'm not going to be a sniper but possibly something along the reconnaissance route
This describes me i like the hard way to be in the dirt this is what i watch for inspiration
Loved it!
Asniper tale bom demais
Most random 12 mins of my life...
Wanna see a whole movie like this!
Wow that was very good I liked it so much 👍
Awesome video.
I think, everyone with negative comments. Never served the army in real life.
Snipers: perfectionsts, patient, adaptable, Master of stealth, The Surgeon's Scapel when the Hammer cannot be used. One Shot, One Kill.
Greatness is cultivated over decades
Very well done I enjoyed it.
