Hey Zac if you haven't made a video about this yet how about a video on the different uses between a pressure pot and a vacuum set up. I've been making pens for about six months buying blanks but I'm just getting into making my own. I've been using resins that don't require Pressure or a vacuum but I'm moving in that direction. Love your videos! Thanks
Thanks for the kind words Sean, glad to hear you're enjoying the videos! I did do a video on that topic many years ago when I first got into casting, and I didn't fully understand the differences for casting. So, I should probably do one that covers when you would use vacuum vs pressure and why. Great idea!!
Thanks so much! It was made with a resin 3D printer, but you could make those with a filament style printer too. I've found resin prints turn, sand, and polish a bit better than the filament style prints I've turned in the past
@@ZacHiggins, it's a pity. I have a filament Printer. I wonder if it would help adding a coat or of uv resin and then just work it off again I go up to a 12000 grit with the mico mesg. Maybe that would also help
since alumilite sets up quicker than most deep pour epoxies, is it better to get alumilite? I have some deep pour epoxy and the set up time is 70 minutes it also seems like it never raises in temperature so i can not have color mixing.
You can use any resin, just a matter of waiting for the right timing usually, but Alumilite Clear Slow is my preferred resin for doing color swirls or suspending things like glitter just because the working time is shorter and it locks the colors in well. I've gotten great results using Liquid Diamonds and Amazing Clear Cast Plus epoxies though too. Some of the deep pour epoxies can be tough to dial in the right temperature/time to pour for color swirls though, they tend to stay fluid longer than the non deep pour epoxies like LD and ACC+
Looking Good Zac! Looking Good!
That turned out great Zac
Thanks Curtis! I can't wait to make some different types of shapes/patterns like this on the 3D printer for future projects. Sky's the limit 😀
gorgeous
Thank you 😀
That came out amazing Zac!!!!
Thanks! Super fun to make!

That looks awesome Zac!
Thanks Tim! So much fun to make this one, I'll need to come up with more similar designs like this!
Pretty
Thanks Laurie 😀 And thank you again for your generous super chats today!!
That looks amazing. Was that resin 3D printed or filament? I love the outcome👌👌

@@ilsejansevanrensburg9237 I print pen blanks in fdm print with 100%infill and sand lightly to avoid heat melting filament
@@warrensreptiles, thank you Chris. Appreciate it
Really like 👍🏻
Thanks Mark 😀
