The thing with deciding what to eat every day is SO true!!! Really overwhelming, and now I understand better than ever why my mom was cooking us the same meals over and over again. But I admire your little kids for sleeping all night and letting mom and dad have some rest 👏👏👏👏 totally not my reality.

My priorities fluxuate between home, livestock & outside chores. Every time I get discouraged, you have another video that speaks to me. Thank you.
Routine and consistency is also a key foundation for children too. We had a mostly pleasant time when my three were little because of routine and consistency, with our days. Naps and bedtime came easily. It helped us all cope and be our best. Thanks Callie !
Totally agree with that. I always followed routines with my two when they were little. My kids always went to bed happily and we (mostly -- lol) were out the door on time in the morning with a minimum of fuss. The backbone of all these were routines and setting things up (meals, backpacks, clothing to wear) ahead of time. I also instituted the Fly Lady system and actually thinking of bringing it back now that its just me and husband. I still shine the sink at night!
I have a regular sleeping pattern from 4:30 to 11:30. It works really well for me. I'm a teacher and I startet to work at night school, bc I just couldn't wake up early for regular school. I was SO productive in Uni when I could generate my own schedule. I was barely graduating High School, bc I was always tired. So I once again became tired all the time when I started to teach at a regular school. I couldn't think of anything other than going home and sleep again. Evening school was the best decision I made in my grown-up life. Some people are just not made to wake up early. It has nothing to do with creating habits. Sometimes you just have to listing to what your body needs.
Need routine and consistency!!! 1. Wake up at the same time every day. 2. Write a to-do list. 3. Prioritize (use Covey's urgent vs. important quadrant) 4. Create time and space to be organized every day (review calendar, make lists, schedule tasks, etc.). 5. Declutter your wallet. 6. Give everything you own a place. 7. Use routines. 8. I particularly like to go through clothes, gift wrap*, books, and other things in good condition to donate to our local thrift shop in time for cash-strapped people to buy as gifts. Then in spring I gather the warm weather stuff to donate. *Re gift wrap: I recently got rid of all my wrapping paper and most of the ribbons in favor of using gift bags that I can just put the item in and top off with tissue paper and a garnish of curling ribbon. Bingo. Done. No more trying to wrap an awkward shaped gift and saving odd scraps of gift wrap!
Sometimes if I am really tired I used to leave the sink for morning, but after watching your videos I determined to clean the sink every night. Now I cannot sleep without cleaning the sink and stove. Thanks so much for your very practical videos.
I would love a blogger to do something about how shift workers can create consistent routines. I’m just so stumped since I work rotating 1st 2nd and 3rd shift as a hospital medicine doctor.
I went to dollar tree not to long ago and found a sticker saying But first, coffee. (What a coincidence.) I instantly was reminded of you. Kallie, thank you so much for your videos. They're my motivation!
“Routining consistency”. This is so important to all alleviate stress. Just gotta tell you that after watching your video a couple weeks ago about emptying the kitchen sink before bedtime is a wonderful “new habit” that I’m trying to adhere to.
These tips are going to be a big help but one thing I struggle with is a routine with sleeping. My husband and I are night shifters so my household works a bit differently when it comes to that. I think having a routine at least for my toddler would help tremendously. However, I will do my best to get my toddler on a sleep schedule because it is so needed!
I’ve only been following some advice from some of your videos for about a week now and my house and life already feels so much easier and less cluttered.
You have started with Flylady and expanded/made it better! I love that. And forming habits is like having your own personal assistant. If you are not expending energy thinking of what to do next is it really work? A lot of what one does in “autopilot” (habit) is like meditation. Calming, soothing and balancing. And one habit leading to others is so pleasing! Thank you!
lol - yes - 10 days minimum to get myself sorted every day. lol. You're a huge inspiration to me Kallie - Thanks so much for sharing! ❤ Mel in Australia 🇦🇺🦘🐨
I noticed you’re a Loopy user too! The best solution for any phone!! You should get them to sponsor you, would be easy to talk about something you already use every day.
These are the things I hate and make me understand why my almost 12 year old turn into a toddler. I'm almost 50, and I have had a hard time with adulting. I really admire your because of this. Thank you for sharing and making a video on this silly topic every so often. I will re-watch and hear it, as if I do I will be able to do one of these tasks easier for at least one time. I am going to load up the dishwasher as I re-watch/listen.
Thank you for all of your tips in changing habits and behavior. Can you please do more videos on the Atomic Habit's book please? Cleaning my sink at night is mind blowing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Love your videos! 😍
I usually say I feel like I'm chasing my tail... but I probably made that one up, lol. Thanks for the tips. I LOVE routine but it freaks my husband out so he thinks he doesn't have one... he does... he sets out to disrupt mine every morning. So then I spend the rest of the day trying to catch up.
Meal planning really sucks for me. Especially when i plan & cook wonderful meals only to have my partner take 2 bites and throw out the rest! Makes me dread ALL cooking and meal prep.
One of the best informative videoes, Dhanyāsmi 🙏🏼 My Suggestion. Once you complete your 10 points, it'll help viewers if you recap those 10 points once.
I am a proponent of lists. I am so much more productive, I prioritize the tasks and best of all, get great satisfaction from crossing things off when they are done!
What about people with different shifts at different times of the year?? For me it’s work at 9 am for a few months and then a week or two of having to be at work at 6 am. And then a few months of 9 and then a few months of 6 and repeat
All of us look at this from our own perspectives. If I took the time to clean up the kitchen before going to bed, I'd have more trouble going to sleep because the activity would give me "second wind". I just want to go to bed while I feel tired. And I am not a morning person. Sounds like Kallie is. When I come downstairs in the morning , still in my p.j.'s, it doesn't bother me one bit that the dishwasher needs unloaded & dirty dishes are in the sink which need to be put into the dishwasher, It doesn't bother me that there are a few pieces that need washed by hand. For me, it gets my day off to a good start to tackle all of that first thing in the morning, as well as get our 5 pets fed.....& I'm still in my jammies. I'm a night owl. I like for there to be things needing tended to when I get up. It makes me feel like I'm off to a productive start. I am all rested & ready to take on the day. 😄 After I get all the pets fed, the newspaper brought in, the kitchen tidied, I go back upstairs & get dressed. Meal planning works beautifully for a lot of people. It would never work for me. If I'm not hungry for something, it doesn't even taste good. I need to fix what I'm hungry for every day. There's no way I am going to know what i'll be hungry for a week from today. The way I handle things is this : we have a very well-stocked pantry (it's a room, not a cupboard). We have 2 upright freezers full of food. I make soups & casseroles which are in the freezers.....only have to be nuked. W/a well-stocked pantry , fridges (2) & freezers, I can put together meals fairly quickly. And we're eating at low prices because we stock up when things are on sale. We are working on decluttering. Things need a place where they belong. It makes it SO much easier to find something if it's always where it belongs. I enjoy your videos very much....you have lots of great advice. Oh, one other thing.....I ordered a planner. First time! I have always written all sorts of stuff down....but it'll be nice to have an actual planner, I think.
I love to do lists. When my son got married his new wife gave him a to do list and he crumpled it up because I had given him one every day and now that he was married he didn’t want to see one. Of course that’s been a long time now so maybe he is back at it. Ha ha. Merry Christmas to you and your beautiful family. God bless. See you in 2022.
I'd love to wake up to a clean sink every morning. But inevitably every night at some point someone in my house leaves something in it after I've cleaned it. Even when I've left a note in the sink to leave it clean, lol!
@@susannovak8263 My mom would have woken me up and had me wash it, if I did that. Of course, I wasn't allowed to go in the kitchen after supper either. Again, I choose to focus on more important things.
How do you exercise? I find it hard to take separate time out for it. I don't mind walking to my grocery store but I find it hard to just walk for the sake of walking.
Your kids don't wake up during the night? Mine do, any tips on how I can wake up at the same time every day??.. how to get your kids to sleep theough the night??
I remember, as a young girl, seeing my grandma take a small ax out to the hen house, grab a chicken by the head, one swift whack - the chicken is headless. The body does run around until it bleeds out. It sounds barbaric now but back then, that was how we lived. Fresh eggs and THE BEST chicken and pastry for Sunday lunch - or fried chicken. Yum! My grandma was a real woman.
thought i would give it a try NOT at all what i expected, the rewards gift cards are all digital and a pain in the ass to use!! would be so much better if they sent you actual cards!~!
Excellent video! I'm a fella and for some reason this came up on my suggested videos!? Lol 😅 However it's EXACTLY what I needed to see, being I'm single now for the last 3 years, I'm struggling with the house stuff especially after having suffered a major flood downstairs! So I've SERIOUSLY got to 1. Sort the house 2. Keep it sorted! 3. And my days! I always worked in the financial markets, so ALWAYS been a massive OCD everything spot on dotting the i's crossing the t's and working STUPIDLY long hours was ALWAYS up ridiculously early getting home late and very little sleep! But last couple of years, had a few things go wrong/taken a few hits and my once orderly life has turned into can't remember or get motivated to even be organised! I got the list on the phone and it just gets pushed back day after day week after week and I've even let EXTREMELY IMPORTANT things slip past deadlines that have left me in more cr@p! As I was so overwhelmed with the house and all the stuff that had accumulated that I had to sort out it literally gave me a breakdown! Anyhow not to sound negative this is a positive post as this is one of the best organisational videos I've seen.. (not sure the Eisenhower thing would work for me ) but definitely a take on/adaption on that for sure maybe a long term medium term and shirt term/urgent list or something like that! Have to say my productivity has gone from 200% to 0% in last couple of years! Decided this week I HAVE To take charge of this rubbish, sort the house and turn this around (having a spine op that went wrong in 2019 didn't help none being single either as that's what started the house becoming a mess being laid up/unable to do much) This video was excellent and just what I needed!! Sorry for the essay! Just to say it doesn't just apply to women, as being bit of an old-school English, "man's man" 💪😅 so to speak ( even though I'm not old) lol 😅 This is REALLY helpful! Great stuff!! And I admire your organisation aswell! Cheers and Best wishes from London England 👍❤️💪😎🏴
Maybe it just needs to be in writing in front of you most of the time. You Tubes That Awkward Mom said just to consider getting three items accomplished a day in addition to your regular routine. My written list on a clip board is the only way I remember everything. Best Wishes Also I am older and would have loved a routine years ago.
Gosh , Kallie's advice fits both men & women , for sure! I'm glad for you that her video showed up & you watched it ! Sounds like it's going to help you get back on track. That's wonderful ! Yikes about the flooding ! Happy new year from across the pond.
Because I'm ADHD and OCD, "to-do", "goals", etc., make my brain shut down.....SO, I sat down and wrote down words and phrases that don't make my brain completely shut down. I came up with (drum roll please): PLAN OF ATTACK (S) THAT is how I got my brain to NOT shut down with the things I Need to get done for the day, week, or month. YAY ME!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳😂
People do not realize how debilitating those two things are on a household! I also have those diagnoses, and I shall make a LIST about that! 😋 1. You want to do something simple such as walking into the kitchen to eat; 2. on the way there you notice a cluster of objects with grease on them that you didn't leave out, it has to be something another family member left, now your adhd and ocd has flipped your switch. 3. One hour later you haven't eaten, you're getting grouchy, that family member walks by...... 4. You totally have to inform him or her that you have spent an hour cleaning; let's be honest, it's his (not him or her lol) mess, the other adhd person in the house! 5. Now there is a heated discussion about how he can't put things where they go and you can't believe it had grease all over it. 6. You're hungry and at that point you could care less about his side of the story and you grab an unhealthy snack like item. 7. Thank God my kitchen sink is clean lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!😇😇😇😇😇 8. Then you start beating yourself up and feeling guilty about bringing up his mess, bc you're at home and he works, so why not clean up after him? You apologize, and beat yourself up even more bc you can't stay on task. 9. Meanwhile back at the kitchen counter, your "breakfast" sits there uneaten..... 10. Now you're just drinking coffee and watching bfc and life is good!
I agree with you 100%. When the lockdown first started I lost my routine. For the first week or two I fell down the You Tube rabbit hole. I didn’t even brush my teeth or shower. I realized I couldn’t continue this way. I found the Fly Lady’s lists and used them to create a new routine that I still follow. My routine is very similar to the one you follow.
I started the FLYLady training in 2001, and have adapted it to our needs etc. It has made a shift in the legacy of home care that I grew up with and how my kids learn how to do things that were not instilled into me as a kid.
I remember FLY lady! My friend told me about it years ago...i liked the clean sink method thing! But I agree, I need more lists and meal planning thing!
Super advice. A good old rule to live by: "A place for everything and everything in its place." Also, when I make a To-Do list I alternate must-dos (like cleaning the litter box) with things I really love doing, like sewing or crochet.
I follow so much of this advice on a daily basis. When I make my list and then I find I did something that was not on the list, I will actually take the time to write it on the list and cross it off. Psychologically it makes me feel productive, like I'm getting more done. For years, I have also laid out my outfit the night before. One less thing to think about in the morning. I love all my routines, but do allow myself to take advantage of spontaneity. My routines really keep me on track and sane during my busy days. Great video!
I feel this is great advice. DO YOU FEEL THIS WOULD WORK when your job is inconsistent? I have to work different shifts every week? I really agree with the getting dressed tip. Once I put on my tennis shoes I’m ready to hit the ground running.
I think routines do work in that case too. You just leave out the "get up at the same time everyday" bit. But even through the clock shows different times, your routine could be consistent. Like, waking up, airing the room, making the bed, doing some exercise, eating breakfast for example. You know, doing the very same things in the very same order. Of course, this example is an ideal one, for a lot of people, the wake up routine most likely starts with drinking coffee and checking out social media, I just wanted to give a more healthy example.
Great advice, as always. Re: meal planning & prep-my mom used to say that if you have just one thing prepared to eat, it’s so helpful. Also, I have an Instant Pot & use it often. I’m about to give our daughter a surprise gift early in the new year: freezer-prepped meals that she can throw into her Instant Pot on those crazy days. I have the time now to do this since I’m retired, but she’s in that busy phase of having 2 active kiddos. Love your videos, & you are so pretty!
With kiddies (4 of them) long grown and moved away, I am so DONE with cooking! My meal planning consists of letting my husband do it all unless we're having company. I grow the food (as much as possible) and he prepares dinner. I do the baking and food preservation, but no more cooking on a nightly basis.
I have to make my to do list the night before. Otherwise I can’t sleep. I keep trying to make this mental list while I lay there longing for sleep. It helps me relax to know I’m not forgetting anything. It’s already written down. PS what to have for dinner every night is the worst thing EVER!
Great video! I look forward to your information and admire the way you present it. I am a pretty productive and organized person, but I always get new insights and even encouragement from your work. We can always improve our systems and routines, I think. Thanks!
Your tips are always so helpful! I've already learned so much from you, like having a weekly/daily planner and To-Do list, and it's helped me so much! I'm no longer a headless chicken :). Putting out my outfit the day before - that's something that hasn't worked that well for me... What I want to wear (when I go to work at least, when I'm only out to run errands I Grab a sweater and a pair of jeans and there's your outfit 😄) depends a lot on what mood I'm in, so it's often happened that I put out an outfit the night before, and the next morning I looked at it and simply wasn't feeling it at all. The best method for me is to think of some outfit ideas the evening before and then See what I like the next morning. And I always have some failsafe options that I only have to pull out and I know it'll bei find.
Me too. . .if my laundry is kept up there's no need to lay out tomorrows outfit since all of them are available. In the mornings i just grab whats appropriate for the day & weather. When the laundry gets way behind THAT'S when i have to plan ahead.
Same here. I base what I"m going to wear each day on what I feel like wearing that day , the weather, & if I'm going to be running errands. Same way for me when it comes to meals. Meal planning would never work. I get hungry for certain things & if I eat something else, it doesn't even taste good. I don't enjoy it. I need to eat what I'm hungry for right then. I don't even know the day before what that might be ! But I have some prepared foods in the freezer & a well-stocked food supply so a meal can be put together quickly....& at sale prices usually.
I'm much more casual now that I'm a widow living alone, but when I was raising my kids I had 3x5 cards on which I had written menus. Her video "18 things to declutter before 2022" does this, it's great!
No I knew the clean the sink was coming.😂 Thanks Kelli
Great tips! I know you have a meal planning system, but I love Plan to Eat. It makes meal planning and grocery shopping so much easier and faster!
Not even a minute into the video and you are already getting into the content 👏👏👏
Love u. Kitchen sink is my new routine. Changed my life!
I’ve only been following some advice from some of your videos for about a week now and my house and life already feels so much easier and less cluttered.
Thanks! Loving your videos. They are making positive influences in my life: 2 grown boys, disabled husband, faithful dog. Merry Christmas!
such great advice, love listening to your channel
You have started with Flylady and expanded/made it better! I love that. And forming habits is like having your own personal assistant. If you are not expending energy thinking of what to do next is it really work? A lot of what one does in “autopilot” (habit) is like meditation. Calming, soothing and balancing. And one habit leading to others is so pleasing! Thank you!
I love your videos ! They're absolutely awesome to learn from and love your energy and sense of humor! I'm always so positive after watching them !
You are so awesome! I’m always so inspired and motivated after watching your videos
Haha I normally don’t comment but I’m literally cleaning my sink for the night right now. Thanks for making me feel like I’m killing it over here!!
Thank you for the encouragement to get organized for the day! I need this!
It’s funny how good having a clean kitchen sink makes you feel and Carrie’s over to other parts of your life.
As always, nicely done, well said. 😘🥰❤️
So organized for a creative left hander.
Your ideas are very helpful
The sleep thing sounds cool hopefully I can do it one day. My baby thinks different lol

I loveee your videos! You make so simple to understand and apply! 🥰 Kisses from Brazil 🇧🇷! 😘
I noticed you’re a Loopy user too! The best solution for any phone!! You should get them to sponsor you, would be easy to talk about something you already use every day.
Merry Christmas Kallie!🎅🎄⛄ Thanks for all the EPIC inspiration and ideas over the years! Have a safe and blessed holiday season! 🤗💗
This is my favorite video you’ve ever done! Thank you :)
Thank you for all of your tips in changing habits and behavior. Can you please do more videos on the Atomic Habit's book please?
Cleaning my sink at night is mind blowing! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!! Love your videos! 😍
Yay first comment and second like. Love this channel.
Oh man, I hear you on the getting dinner on for everyone every night (and all other meals too). Why do kids need to eat so often?!
The most important one for me is set a sleep routine every day
yes! i wake up everyday @ same time even on my day off
Absolutely tremendous ! Thank you !
I usually say I feel like I'm chasing my tail... but I probably made that one up, lol. Thanks for the tips. I LOVE routine but it freaks my husband out so he thinks he doesn't have one... he does... he sets out to disrupt mine every morning. So then I spend the rest of the day trying to catch up.
lol 😂 hearYou!
Been there .. still am 🙄
Wrapping gift video from 4 years ago is still useful to this day
Oh. My. Goodness! I think meal planning is exhausting too, especially when you have to switch to Low Carb for my spouse's heart conditions.
Meal planning really sucks for me. Especially when i plan & cook wonderful meals only to have my partner take 2 bites and throw out the rest! Makes me dread ALL cooking and meal prep.
Can you give us a hair tutorial? Your curls are always perfect!
One of the best informative videoes, Dhanyāsmi 🙏🏼
My Suggestion.
Once you complete your 10 points, it'll help viewers if you recap those 10 points once.
May I ask the name if this lovely city shown in the beginning? Wonderful video as always, thank you!
You are so funny, I love your videos. I do love the clean sink….hubby never cleans it lol
My “kryptonite” are my contact lenses. If I fail to put them in my eyes in the morning, I’m not likely to get dressed or get anything done!
AWESOME video :) Thank you. Also, where is this southwestern rug from?!
Loved it!!! 😍
After I get all the pets fed, the newspaper brought in, the kitchen tidied, I go back upstairs & get dressed.
Love the new intro !
I have the same noise machine (time stamp 9:42). 😄
I failed at the sink rule like, 3-4 days in a row and then did it. It's only been 3 days but I've kept with it. Little steps.
Thank you!
I work nights 🤦🏽♀️ any suggestions on trying to organize a schedule for night shift people ? And our kids have a lot of appointments
I get up at 4 am on five days and sleep a few hours more on the other 2 days.but I will getup at 4 am on the other 2 days as well.tks
"You likely lack routine and consistency in your day." I mean just at me 🤣
Me too! God bless
With kids yeah right. My kids wake up at the same time I do no matter where they are or how quite I am. how do I have time for myself.
Is Fetch applicable in the UK as well? Thanks.
Polish your sink, Fly Ladies!
I'd love to wake up to a clean sink every morning. But inevitably every night at some point someone in my house leaves something in it after I've cleaned it. Even when I've left a note in the sink to leave it clean, lol!
Maybe they could put their dishes in a dish pan in the cabinet under your sink. I haven’t tried it but heard others mention it.
Take that item, and put it on their bed. Do not wash it first. That will do the trick!
@@debbienorris4343 Its not that big of a deal to me. I choose to let it go, and focus on a clear mind and more important stuff.
Where did you get your keychain/wallet? I need one! Lol
Your kids don't wake up during the night? Mine do, any tips on how I can wake up at the same time every day??.. how to get your kids to sleep theough the night??
how old are your kids?
@@harleighstringer 5, 3 and 6 months
Don't let them nap during the day, if possible.
@@briannab5296 thanks:)
What pen are you using?????
I remember, as a young girl, seeing my grandma take a small ax out to the hen house, grab a chicken by the head, one swift whack - the chicken is headless. The body does run around until it bleeds out. It sounds barbaric now but back then, that was how we lived. Fresh eggs and THE BEST chicken and pastry for Sunday lunch - or fried chicken. Yum! My grandma was a real woman.

Jk thanks for the info!
instead of rewriting list put different symbols next to them ie square, circle, triangle, star
thought i would give it a try NOT at all what i expected, the rewards gift cards are all digital and a pain in the ass to use!! would be so much better if they sent you actual cards!~!
Decided this week I HAVE To take charge of this rubbish, sort the house and turn this around (having a spine op that went wrong in 2019 didn't help none being single either as that's what started the house becoming a mess being laid up/unable to do much)
This video was excellent and just what I needed!!
I do need a routine in my life!😊 thanks for your videos! Your an inspiration!❤🥰
I came up with (drum roll please):
PLAN OF ATTACK (S)
THAT is how I got my brain to NOT shut down with the things I Need to get done for the day, week, or month.
YAY ME!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳😂
Same! 💯
Excellent comment! Having OCD can be a debilitating condition. I hope you are getting the help you need with therapy and medication. Good luck to you!
People do not realize how debilitating those two things are on a household! I also have those diagnoses, and I shall make a LIST about that! 😋
1. You want to do something simple such as walking into the kitchen to eat;
2. on the way there you notice a cluster of objects with grease on them that you didn't leave out, it has to be something another family member left, now your adhd and ocd has flipped your switch.
7. Thank God my kitchen sink is clean lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!😇😇😇😇😇
Gosh I love this so much! 💜💜
@@MiaStar thanks!
You are not alone
I feel this is great advice. DO YOU FEEL THIS WOULD WORK when your job is inconsistent? I have to work different shifts every week? I really agree with the getting dressed tip. Once I put on my tennis shoes I’m ready to hit the ground running.
Same 🥲
I agree, I work 3-4 12 hour hour night shifts a week🥱
That is an amazing gift for a mom! Food!
Good stuff girl!! keeping me motivated. Merry Christmas! 🎄
Where are those containers from at 7:30?!? I need them in my life!!!
I started using Fetch cos of your channel and it's life changing lol. So easy!
I have to make my to do list the night before. Otherwise I can’t sleep. I keep trying to make this mental list while I lay there longing for sleep. It helps me relax to know I’m not forgetting anything. It’s already written down. PS what to have for dinner every night is the worst thing EVER!
This may sound crazy but I need 10 hours of sleep a night. I fought it for years but once I started owning it, I feel so much better.
Me too.
Great video! I look forward to your information and admire the way you present it. I am a pretty productive and organized person, but I always get new insights and even encouragement from your work. We can always improve our systems and routines, I think. Thanks!
I’m sooooorryyyy did I miss the part where you met RACHEL RAY!!!! How freaking cool is that!
@@patwagner9308 ... well said! .. i think the same way as you about meal planning!
@@briannab5296 Thank you! Yeah, meal planning works great for a lot of people....but I'm not one of them. Fun to hear someone else feels the same way!
