Hay guys!!! Thanks for answering my questions 2 months in a row!
#AskTheVetVideo As foaling season is in full swing for the northern hemisphere, what do you recommend to be in a foaling kit ? Also what are the signs that foaling is getting close? New born foal care?

#Askthevetvideo Hey guys! Do you have any suggestions on how to improve quality of life of semi-retired sport horses with chronic osteoarthritis? I have read a lot about high dose omega-3 for example, with the EPA and DHA. Thanks so much!!!!
My 17 year old Oldenburg gelding used to be a high level hunter horse in his younger days (Before I knew him). From mid 2016 to mid 2017 he was leased out by his owners and received horrific farrier work, where he had 3 degree front wedges on with no apparent purpose or need for them. When he came to my barn he was about 10 percent sound. He is a million times better now, and is perfectly suitable for my riding (very minimal, low jumping on good days), but he still has a little bit of pain in his right front on and off, and comes out stiff some days. He has stifle issues as well, apparently due to compensating for the pain in his fronts. He is on previcox and methocarbamol, which work extremely well for him, as well as some joint and overall health supplements.

    #Askthevetvideo hello smartpack!
What's a good way to supplement a young unbroken clydesdale's vitamins without too much sugar and energy? ☺

#AskTheVetVideo Dr. Gray. I have tried to reach Joe Bertone about my own horse's sleep deprivation and he never contacted me back. I know this video is 3 years old, but is there a way to get hold of him or any sleep deprivation vet? My horse is 28 years old, and has not laid down to sleep since he fractured his knee in March 2020. Before that he was big on heavy lateral sleep!! He's had IRAP, shockwave and steroid injections to no avail. His knee is stiff, though he can run, jump and roll with no issues. When he has fallen asleep standing and fallen down, he will lay sternal for only 30 seconds then get back up. When I bend his knee, it does not go all the way up (I can bend his good knee until his hoof touches his elbow), but when I bend the knee he fractured (though it's now fully healed), he is ok until about 2 inches from the hoof touching the elbow (if any of this makes sense), then he rocks backwards... which I know means it hurts. It's obvious to me that if it hurts to bend all the way, he's not going to go sternal and tuck it under himself. Rolling is ok because he doesn't bend it that far to get down. I don't know what to do. I worry as he is older and I'm scared of this taking a toll on his health.

#Askthevetvideo loving the videos ladies!!❤ I worked with clicker training with my mare. I just don't know if she gets it. How do I know if she's understanding and getting "rewarded"? Thanks!!

#askthevetvideo I dont have access to hot/warm water for bathing my horses, so I typically use the cold hose water, and I normally wait until it's at least 80 degrees outside if not warmer.
Is there an outside temperature appropriate for bathing with hose water?
I do scrape any extra water off and hand walk/graze them until they dry.
    Thank you in advance!

My old show horse that belongs to my trainer is 26 years old and is more of the respected mares of the herd, has a breathing condition were she has to get a shot from the vet a few days before a summer show. She has been in work for over 10 years. I really want her in a happy comfortable state and don’t want her to be in any pain. She regularly coughs during rides. She’s a great horse and jumps up to 2.0. She has kids on her back a lot and her years a catching up to her. Is there anything that I could do to make her last years more comfortable without taking her out of work??

You guys have mentioned in the past that it's not healthy to feed more than 5 lbs of grain per feeding. Is it safe to feed around 5 lbs of say beet pulp or alfalfa pellets since they are technically not a grain? I'm looking to put weight on my OTTB, and have been soaking both alfalfa pellets and beet pulp (comes out to around 5-6lbs in weight). Is their an alternative where I can feed less but maintain his weight? Thanks! #AsktheVetVideo

I'm no expert by any means, but I know there are some grains and supplements that have a high caloric density, so they add more calories per pound of grain, such as the Hi-pro step 8 hi fat feed. I believe it is a "lighter" feed as well, so you can feed a bit more of it. I dont thing the step 8 has all the vitamins and minerals though, so another basic feed might be needed. Omega oils are also great

I'm not a professional but I'd assume soaked alfalfa cubes are okay to feed in large amounts because it's pretty much just alfalfa chopped up and pressed into cubes. I don't know about alfalfa pellets or beet pulp. I'd split it up between morning and night, maybe even midday feedings.
