Ahmedabad Metro Train service opens for public

- Ahmedabad: The newly inaugurated Metro train carried an average of 650 passengers for about 30 trips, between Vastral Gam to Apparel Park, non-stop. The train was available every 50 minutes from either station.
The train did not run at full speed and moved only at about 25-30kmph. It took about 18 minutes to cover the 6.5km distance one-way. The train, which first left Vastral at 10am, was available at Apparel Park after 25 minutes. Metro officials said, “Each passenger had to take get a ticket before boarding, and some 10,000 tickets each were issues from the Vastral and Apparel Park stations.”
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had flagged off the train on Monday and taken a 800m ride, from Vastral Gam to Nirant Crossroads. Till February 15, the train will run only between Vastral Gam and Apparel Park without any stops. It will run only between 10am and 4pm. A second train is expected to begin operations on February 16. The authorities plan to levying fares once the second train is available. The three-car train can carry 300 passengers, seated.

Not only that the way people rush when train comes is also manner less. See at 2.15. It's very different abroad. In India people think such behavior is cool. But they look gamaar when outside India people watch it. People keep distance even while standing in a que and in public transport which is never seen in India. People should allow to get down the passengers first.

Even after spending money Metro station looks substandard. Politicians come abroad but they don't built infrastructure of international standard.

2.15 the way people are rushing in shows that nothing will change Metro or No Metro. And Gujarati langauge sounds so different in Ahmedabad. People speak very different way.

100 Thumbs down....... Amdavad is # 7 city in india and 10 of Indian cities already have metro running. It is estimated that Amdavad will be 14th Indian city to have metro if everythiing works on schedule..... look like Amdavad is going backward under current incompetitive government. People just dont know reality so they are happy.
@Hiren Mamaniya Agreed, moving forward.... but behind most cities. Biggest mistake he did, is BRTS. He had to go for metra instead of BRTS. His BRTS has covered valuable land. If he had put Metro instead of BRTS I would congrstulate him.

@Hiren Mamaniya Sorry but I differ my opinion. Why for limited route? If Metro was there instead of BRTS, people would be moving more faster than BRTS and other traffic would flow more faster too. Today BRTS has blocked lots of roads and as a result other traffic is suffering. They should run Metro on BRTS routes and scrap BRTS. Most major cities in world is running metro successfully. He has taken Amdavad in backward direction with BRTS.
@Hiren Mamaniya He delayed Metro because of BRTS. Incompetent cos he could not see how it will effect the traffic and threw project without farsight. 100 thumbs down cos Metro had to start working on 100+KM route before 2012. Its too late and too little. No credit can be given
