- Portage Place is a mixed-use shopping centre located in downtown Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. Covering 439,600 sq ft, it is located on the north side of Portage Avenue, between Vaughan and Carlton Streets and opened in September 1987.
Still looking pretty decent considering its age! Hope it can recover from pandemic like the rest of the city!
It’s being torn down
Cool looking mall.
Thanks for taking me on a tour.
It still looks good for its age actually inside and out , too bad the clientele isn’t the best !
The fountain is the only real attraction in the mall near the Shoppers Drug Mart and Government Services.
im making a zombie shooter game set in portage place and this will help
@Greg LeJacques was there last month and there was leaking near the front entrance
Once my favourite mall in Winnipeg is now my least favourite mall. Why? IMAX closed over 10 years ago and everything has been dying here since. I loved going to IMAX and I still struggle to find fun places to go in Winnipeg, even after a decade.
I remember hearing right after it opened that it wasn’t meeting expectations.
@@davidlisowski5245 You heard this already back in 1986? While I don’t disagree that it may have not been exceeding expectation as early as 1986, I believe the main cause of closure is that Portage Place sometime since around the late 2000s had been becoming an increasingly popular for drug addicts and homeless people. This made people scared of going to Portage Place. As people increasingly started avoiding Portage Place, Imax was rapidly loosing customers and money. So unfortunately they were in such a dire situation that they had no choice but to close it. IMAX’s closure has actually caused Portage Place to loose even more customers and the mall is like a ghost town today. The amount of rough people has also increased as a result and the food court and the escalators area are especially very unsafe these days.
I was just there yesterday
/twerks aggressively to the music
You’re funny.
