The museum owner said he would be “happy to pay” 50-60k. That was not an auction price estimate. Dude should have walked away and sold it to the expert lol
Why didn’t he just sell it on his own for that much then? Bc it takes a long time to find someone that will pay that much for it and it’s super risky to put it in an auction. Rick has to make a profit and is taking a risk and putting money into the jacket so 40 grand isn’t a scam
My girlfriends uncle has 3 whole sheds built in his back garden that are packed to the max with all of Elvis’ memorabilia. He has all of his records, gold records, he has a plinko machine that’s Elvis, two cars detailed as a tribute to elvis, he has all of the plates and things that are elvis, tonnes of other things, he even has two of Elvis’ outfits he wore on stage at shows and two of his outfits he wore when acting in movies. All authentic. We reckon that his entire collection could easily be over £3 million
If I ever get my hands on any of Elvis's item I would never sell it at any price. For real 40k is an insult to Elvis Presley. I mean he is priceless.♥️
philoman23 philoman23 Umm no. They have already come up with an agreed upon price before the "negotiation" you see on TV. The haggling is for entertainment purposes only. Rick, the seller, and the expert all know the price beforehand. Just assumed everyone knew this by now.
I know I know everything is previously agreed and the shows producers only pick certain people, I’m well aware but when they call in an expert they do get lowballed anyways just saying @americanpatriot
hshsh jaka The better question is: "How do you not know this?" History channel behind the scenes, hidden cameras, Nevada privacy laws, my brother-in-law going there and asking, and most importantly common sense.
$40k ? I swear they could have video of Elvis saying “Yes i wore this hubba hubba” and they still wouldn’t give the man above $40k. That could easily go for $75k.
For all of you who are saying he got suckered or scammed; He had every opportunity to walk away and Rick gave him every opportunity as well. If he had a buyer that would have paid 60k - 100k then obviously we wouldn’t be seeing this episode. He took the deal because this is the best he got.
Call Graceland and DONATE on permanent loan. (They have an Archive Department). They’ll know how to care for it and display it in their collection. Then you’ll really feel like you did something meaningful. And if you’re not able to do that, they might know of a serious collector who could be interested in acquiring it. At least then you’ll be having a serious conversation with people who have a heartfelt commitment to EP’s legacy.
yep that's the jacket I went through that Elvis museum in pigeon forge Tennessee about a dozen times when I was a teenager my little brother was crazy about Elvis back in the 90s😌
Thomas Arndt yeah but the guy said "he would love to get it at $$$" as in that's what he would like to pay... probably a number where he could turn a decent profit as well
And that made it more funny The expert would try to buy it for 50-60-55 thousend But owner sold it for 40. Lol So the expert could easy get if for 55 The guy is dubble screwed
The Elvis museum dude said he'd pay 55-60 grand for it and the moron sells it 5 minutes later for 40! Wouldn't be surprised if Rick takes it straight round to the museum and sells it for 50! 10 grand for 10 minutes work is what I'd do!
i honesty think that was a scam. the customer that owned the elvis jacket questioned whos coming in and seemed to know the guy. the guy gave him a appraisal of it being real and worth quite a bit. So this was a dual effort to get rick to buy it off the customer with the elvis jacket. and with the customer eventually agreeing on 40 grand it seems rational to conclude that he wanted it out of his collection even though he was taking a 'loss'. I may be paranoid about this but seems legit to me!
Man, I don’t know why nobody notices this, but what Rick does is that he asks the client how much he wants for a certain item, and then calls his “guy”, obviously tells him the price that the client had named and whenever Rick’s guy comes in, he usually lowers the price that he knows the client wants, and both Rick and his guy are profiting from this.
rick: hey my expert buddy, I need you at the shop. someone brought something rare and asking for 50 grand. i feel it's the right price but can you come here appraise it and lowball it say it's worth 30 grand tops? expert buddy: give me 1k cut when you resell it for 65 grand and we have a deal. rick: ok
Expert: It's worth 2,000,000 dollars at the lowest price. Seller: So, 2Million? Rick: The best I can do is a penny and a broken glass shard. Seller: You got a deal!
Funny how Rick always tells the customers that he's calling an expert and then he asks right away how much is (he-she)selling the item for; Then the expert prices it a way lower amount!😂😂
Glad that coat didn’t get cut up and sold in the records. The iconic 68 comeback special leather suti almost was lost and so was the white jacket he sung “if I can dream” . It was a great marketing ploy by the colonial.
Pretty clever that they use the 50-65k range to determine what to offer, since the appraiser qualified it as 'the price I would like to get it for', which means from a buyer's perspectie and therefore on the lower range. This doesn't mean he or others wouldn't pay much more. As he said, it's Elvis. So they used a price point that was already discounted to value their offer. Dude bringing it in should've pressed higher.
Customer: I have the knife that killed Caesar himself Rick: oooo best I can do is some chewed up gum, a quarter and this melted mounds bar Customer: ... SCORE!
Laser325, you do know that the Gold & Silver Pawnshop, is a REAL shop, in Las Vegas? It wasn't a pawnshop that was invented for TV... You are going to get REPEAT customers. I've been to the G&SP a handful of times over the years... I must be a repeat actor then....
Laser, not everyone is flush for cash. Perhaps he needed the money to pay off a debt, perhaps he bought (or was going to buy) something else that was expensive. If you don't need the cash right now, you can wait a year, two years, three years for auction, or right person. But how many people are going to have $45,000 cash in their bank? How many people that do have $45,000 are going to shell that out for an Elvis jacket? I'm a massive Star Trek fan, and I wouldn't spend $45,000 for the coat that William Shatner wore in the Wrath of Khan, or the top Ricardo Montalban wore, signed, and combined. If we are talking about the captain's chair from the Enterprise 1701 and 1701-D then that's a different story!
It's the sellers fault he was the one that was a dumbass taking it to a pawn shop he could of sold it in an auction with a bunch of elvis fans and they would of faught for it and the price would be way up there its elvis
$40k is an insult to the Elvis community LoL
Yeah the pez community would of done much better
Spock From Star Wars Freddie doesn’t have the nickname “the king” and there’s a reason for that
It's an insult to the Pez community

Especially to my father, he has Elvis’s drivers license.

hahaha, so true
I think there's a law where appraiser's can't actually buy the stuff. They can easily manipulate the seller or follow up with him and con him ...
Owner: I’ll sell it for $75,000.
Rick: I’ll give you $5 and a used condom for it.
"I'm taking all the risk here."
I wouldn't even take it for 0.01$.
this is absolute garbage coat.
I have seen this same condom joke on the pawn stars comments so many times, come up with your own

dude got scammed like 40 grand, that could sell for 80k
saiyanz z I just commented, he was an idiot why didn't he meet the other dude in the alley and took 60 for it? he could have cut out Rick😂😂😂🤣
Why didn’t he just sell it on his own for that much then? Bc it takes a long time to find someone that will pay that much for it and it’s super risky to put it in an auction. Rick has to make a profit and is taking a risk and putting money into the jacket so 40 grand isn’t a scam
dboutte36 the old dude was going to buy it
No dude you gotta frame it it takes up inventory space it will sit on the floor forever its not in perfect condition its old the economy!!!!!
you should go buy it for 50k of rick and sell it for 80k than
On auction, this thing would easily go into the six figures. I've seen tons of photos of Elvis wearing this. Dude should have just walked away.
even if it sells for six figures, after fees, taxes, and any other payments to use the auction, you might end up with 40 grand anyway.
Cubsfan122112 are you kidding me. That thing would definitely sell for north of 100,000k and he’d probably walk out with $75. They’re rip offs
Then buy it from Rick for $55k right now. And sell it for over $100k. What are you waiting for?
BlakeGM GREEN DAY
how the fuck would you know that
Nobody should ever sell them things. Go to a huge Elvis fan or collector and you could make way more than 40k
Nope, collector/Elvis fan Will pay less than 40k but some of them willing to pay more than 40k but it is really hard to find one
My girlfriends uncle has 3 whole sheds built in his back garden that are packed to the max with all of Elvis’ memorabilia.
