If she used the technique on those medals and placed them in the memory palace, she would've remembered them, but it wasn't important so she never did that. Our memories are strongly tied to location and stories, which is why almost anyone even with a naturally bad memory can do this for long-term memorization (but you have to repeat it a couple times for it to stick, then it'll be there for life). I know this show covers a lot of crazy topics but this one's legit. I don't think it's very useful in everyday life though, especially when you can just write things down on your phone

I got taught to do memory palaces in school, it's a really cool technique. Never used it again
