I'm disappointed that Spencer forfeited out. But I can't imagine the kind of weight the kid had. The expectation of the entire world was on his back; it's been his dream for the past 5 years to see 4x. He was probable crushed by that lost in spirit and I can understand it.

I think Spencer had an awesome career. And as we know and can tell, sometimes even the best fall. Anything can happen. I’m glad to have been able to watch the greatest Hawk finish his career. Wishing him luck on the Olympic and World fields

Ofc, his season was awesome👍 people are disliking him because he didn’t weigh in the next day considering to be poor sport. And also Matt Ramos is the last match of Spencer’s college career and EVERYONE will remember this moment and the thing is, is they will forget the success behind him all because of that one loss.

I've always been an Iowa fan, but I gotta say it's crazy that Penn St has 0 four time champs currently, but theres a possibility that they get 2 of them in back to back weights next year with Brooks and Starocci

Lee wasn't himself in the quarter finals. Though he won 14-4, he was static much of the time and not moving like he usually does. He just didn't look right. Then the semi loss. It must have been an emotionally tough thing to take, but time will tell about inuries. It's a good chance things will come out about injuries.
I lost in the districts in my state back in the day and it was devistating. Though I toughed it out an made it to the states. I WON there (yup State Champ!!) and to this day (60 years later) I still am in contact with my wrestling coach as we did the impossible and won the states as a team also, with just 3 wrestlers. The bounce back was terrific, but the loss was still devistating. Lee will bounce back too - he just has to get past his injuries - emotional and physical.....

Spencer hasn't been Spencer for the entire year. His leg movement is restricted because of his surgeries and in any match that went beyond the 1st period (not many) he looked winded. I felt he wasn't in great match shape. He was also thrown on his back by Ramos in the Purdue/Iowa dual so he seemed to give Lee some trouble. I really thought he would be in the final but wouldn't have been that surprised if Glory beat him, if Glory could get out of the 1st period. I really hope Lee allows his legs to heal and he can get back to his old self and win an Olympic gold. I hope he looks back at Dan Gable as an example of someone who lost their last College match and went on to dominate the Olympics. Or he can look at John Smith, not nearly as dominant as Lee in College who then went on to dominate the world.
What r some takes on how Ramos pulled that move successfully on Lee?
I ask because he tried it at the very end of the first period and Lee seemed to easily counter it then.
Lee was gassed and he kept his hands locked during the headpinch
Also, Ramos threw Lee in the dual, going up 8-1. Ramos has some throws that are well executed and can end a match. Lee went in Ramos's wheelhouse and lost the bet. Ramos also had a lot of film to scout Lee. I believe Lee will come back, and, if he meets Ramos again, there will be a lot more film on Ramos, and Lee wil have his number again. (This year the matches ended 1/1 BOTH by pins)

I have to say Spencer Lee should have wrestled back. I understand him not doing it. But also believe it could be a negative on his Brand. I don’t believe his knees were the reason he lost. He was in a bad position and Ramos stuck him. But Ramos put him in that bad position and looked like an overall sequence /move practiced by Ramos So I don’t believe it was a true medical forfeit. Id rather see him lose twice and try than throw in the towel. But in the end he has to look himself in the mirror and if he’s OK with the situation than my opinion means nothing.

I wasn't really surprised that Spencer decided not to wrestle back for 3rd. In fact, I was a bit surprised when he showed up to collect his 6th place.
1) He was clearly injured during the quarter finals. I don't know if it happened in that match or just he couldn't hide it any longer, but he looked like he was physically struggling and a bit mentally dazed.
2) When you come in that heavily favored, there's really no difference between 2nd, 3rd, and 6th. Anything other than perfection is a booby prize.
3) There wasn't really any benefit to him wrestling. He could shatter some other people's dreams, but it's not like he needed to add a 3rd place finish to his resume, and Iowa was going locked for 2nd place regardless of the rest of the results.

I’m ok with this for Spencer. Why wrestle more when 3rd place for him is like last place? If he doesn’t want it, then why want him to have it? IF he’s legit injured then need nobody say no more. If he’s not, sure, it’s an issue for the NCAA, but with 2nd place for Iowa locked up, the team didn’t need his points, I bet not a single teammate would disagree or be mad at his decision and why risk injury a month before Nationals and your ultimate goal of making world teams and winning gold medals?

The biggest surprise to me was that Iowa and Penn State combined only had two champions and both were from Penn State… No Iowa champions was a huge shock to me

The tournament where Jordon is wresting is being held at the Pru Center in Newark, NJ. I might go. Yanni is in it too. I was rooting for Sammy to beat Yanni 'again' but Yanni's constant attacks thwarted any offense Sammy could muster up. I was glad RBY lost...he's a tad full of himself and if he goes the route of MMA...there ain't no blood time. I predicted Aaron Pico's transition wasn't going to go as planned and I was right. Aaron wanted to box and he get's knocked out. He's a wrestler...did he forget this. Anyway...keep the videos coming...I'll be listening.
