Heating allowance should most definitely be removed from MPs, plus a whole lot more allowances which nobody else in work is entitled to! Most MPs today are amongst the wealthiest in the Country, whilst most pensioners and working families whose incomes are a few pounds above the limit to qualify for Pension Credit or Universal Credit are often among the poorest. Such is the justice in modern Britain!

Its called employee benefits and there are plenty of jobs that offer it up and down the country. Expenses are not something unique to MPs . Its the same principle as your employer reimbursing you for having to work away as part of your job. The reason these people have a second home is because their job requires it because they are required to work away from their constituencies so they buy a new home out of their own pocket, pay the mortgage on it out of their own pocket and are simply allowed to claim back expenses on their energy bills for only the second home because their job is the reason they have racked up a second set of energy bills. They are already paying energy bills on their family home and they cannot claim anything back on those. Why are GMB viewers so dense!

£350 per month allowance on energy bills for MPs, whilst I as a pensioner on £12,000 annual income pays around £350 for three months energy. and without the annual Winter Fuel Allowance! Come on, get real, they are coining it in!! @@supremeworld87

@@supremeworld87Perhaps members of the armed forces who work away from home should receive similar benefits to those given to MPs. When I was serving, I had a small single cabin (without an en-suite), featuring just one plug socket, a sink, a bed, and a wardrobe, with communal showers and toilets. I had to pay for this basic accommodation. If I wanted a TV, I had to buy one myself and then pay for an additional TV license, despite already having one at home. Meanwhile, MPs have their second homes, furnishings, and heating costs covered by public funds. They should receive accommodations similar to those of armed forces members and pay for any extras themselves. After all, both are funded by taxpayer money.
Additionally, he mentioned that pensioners have been well-supported through the triple lock in recent years. Perhaps he should compare the rise in state pensions with the increase in MPs' pay and allowances to see who has truly been the most generously compensated.

However having a big swanky house with the heating on full all the time is taking the micky.
