- A review of the new Eternity by 900 Global. Bowling on a 42' 3:1 ratio pattern. Layout is 40x4x50 and hit with a 3000 pad. It may need a different pattern to look the best on.
Would be cool if you did a house shot on one lane and a sport pattern on the other. Either way, I’m digging the vids!
Thanks man! Yes I want to do that but I only have StrikeSeeker on the right lane. I could do that and just compare the ball without showing the data from StrikeSeeker on one video. Thank you for your suggestion and thanks so much for watching!
I hit a 657 series the first time I use this ball, high game 244. My league average is 203. Very happy with the ball.
Are you going to do a house shot with this ball? Also, i would hit it with a 4000 and try to shoot or aim between the 10 and 15 board with some angle. Hopefully that makes sense, anyways, thanks for the video
Thank you for your question! I can certainly make that happen and film it for you. Thank you for watching!
Just got this ball today. Got my best game with it. A 278. Very happy with this ball
Awesome! I think it does fit in an arsenal nicely. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video. Can you expand on your 40-50 games comment and compare your thoughts on lifespan of other brands? Also, are you measuring something to get that number or do you feel like you lose carry?
Thank you for your question! So the 40-50 games comes from a variety of sources such as Kegel and also touring pros I know. The ball is recommended to be detoxed or resurfaced after about 60 games because current cover stocks act like a sponge plus the surface wears as well. Just like tires on a car, the covers do wear. Most people will buy a new ball instead of resurfacing/detoxing their current ball. This is what keeps ball companies in business like light bulb companies- if you make something that doesn’t need to be replaced, you’ll be out of business soon. Plus everyone wants the latest and greatest. Have you noticed how good a ball works when you first get it, but a month later it look’s completely different? It’s just absorbed oil or the cover has worn. The ball is always trying to get to the same grit as the lane which is 4700. So a dull ball will get shiny and a shiny ball will get dull. I can definitely tell a difference after about 21 games especially since I have access to all this technology now. The key is to fine the surface that matches best for you for that ball, and maintain it. But, all that being said, all balls last about the same amount of time regardless of manufacturer. Thank you for your question and thanks for watching!!
I hit mine with Reacta Scuff to take the shine off and the ball is a beast!!!!! Mine is drilled 50 x 4 x 35
I did the same! Reacta Skuff is great. Did a surface scan and it said 3000-4000. Absolutely made it come alive! I’ve also taken a 1000 grit pad and used reacta shine and got a nice matte finish that read 4000. Probably similar to 4K Fast. Thanks for watching!
Did you actually hit it with 2k/3k or leave it in box finish?
42' 3:1 pattern should be a good fit for this ball depending on the mls unless you're super speed dominant which I can't quite tell.
Thank you for your question! It was a higher volume pattern and I did hit it with 3000 prior to warming up. I think the ball didn’t look that well because the pattern wasn’t transitioned enough to go to this particular pearl. I did throw it on a more open pattern and it looked a lot better. I may do another video on a 40’ 6:1 and show the difference in performance. Thanks again and thanks for watching!
I was going to get an eternity. Instead I went with the Reality solid. also a TNT. I like to polish up rather than surface down. I think the Reality and TNT will get me some great games on house oil spill pattern. (pattern= maybe some friction somewhere)
don't understand how using side roll helps on a flatter pattern
I’m not sure what you mean by helping on a flatter pattern. The further left you move and the more angle you create, the more around the side of the ball you have to be to enable the ball to recover. You couldn’t stand in front of the ball return and come up the back of it and expect it to come off the spot. So it’s not necessarily a flatter pattern that requires axis rotation, but more about the angle you’re creating by moving left (for a right hander). Flatter patterns just don’t have free hook outside ten generally. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
@@TrueHouseBowler so you play the backend?
@@TrueHouseBowler not saying you're wrong but you should experiment. You may realize your theory could have some exceptions
@@preppypunknyc playing the lanes side to side is old school, you should be playing the lanes front to back.
@@stevehiatt3156 of course
I tried my buddies ball on a fresh house shot the other night. He did not like the way it rolled and hit it with 500/1500/2000 polish. I have a lot more hand than he does and was looking forward to throwing this piece. I must say this ball reacts different from shot to shot. Very dissapointing!
Yep, this ball needs surface and the TNT needs polish to make it better. I’m going to do a video on changing the surface of these so stay tuned. Thanks for watching!
Could the reaction have something to do with your layout. Why would you drill a layout that dumbs down the reaction? 45 x 4 1/2 x 45 is a better test layout. Plus, would you use this ball on fresh? I believe it works best on transition.
Thank you for your question! The reaction is partly from the layout but more so from the pattern I was on. I drill asym pearls like this as I don’t like the sharp violent reaction off the spot. It looks cool but it’s not something that can be consistent unless I’m lofting the gutter cap. I like smoother reaction especially on sport patterns. I did put some surface on it and try it on a higher ratio pattern and it looked a lot better. I’m going to try it in league and see how it looks and then possibly do another video with surface on this ball and shine on the TNT. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
5° angle difference and 1/2" pin-pap difference is not going to make a big difference.
You really need to look at a number of reviews before deciding if a ball is good or not good for your game. Most reviews I have seen for the Eternity are positive.
I agree. I even said at the end, that I don’t think it’s a bad ball it just didn’t match up with the pattern. Most of the reviews are on house shots and can make any ball look good. And of course edited videos from the manufacturer never misses. That’s why I always show the shots without edit. You see what I see. I hit the Eternity with storms reacta skuff and it’s made it look a lot better. I think SPI is having surface consistency issues lately though. Thanks for watching!
@@TrueHouseBowler Got ya. Appreciate the reply.
@@TrueHouseBowler most bowlers are strictly on house shots.
Reacta-shine is terrible. Adding surface would help.
💯…i don’t match up well with it. I usually take it off with a white scotch brite which is around 3000. Thanks for watching!
This is a really good example of why purchasing a ball because it works for someone else or by a blind recommendation by a PSO or even based on shelf appeal can be a bad idea.
This is not a condition you would use the ball on
Thanks for your comment. Yeah I think most bowlers always buy the strongest ball and have no idea really what it’s for. It’s just the latest and greatest ball so they must have it. This wasn’t the idea condition, but you can see when the ball doesn’t match the condition how bad it looks. Thanks for watching!
You and your voice remind me of Matthew McConaughey…
Well alright alright alright 😆…not sure if that’s good or bad but I appreciate you watching!
Move right off a flat 10. I usually move one and one with feet and eyes. It was close.
That’s usually the move on a house shot. On a flat pattern though, if you move right, you’ll miss further right because there isn’t friction on the outside like a typical hose shot. Everything is counterintuitive on house patterns than how it should be lol. Thanks for watching! I appreciate it!
Private lanes aren't like bowling alleys with much more use. This really isn't a good example here. I like reviews at a real bowling alley.
Thank you for your comment! The good thing about private lanes is that we can put down any pattern and see the ball motion instead of the plain house shot. Even from center to center, things like topography and humidity can affect how the ball looks. This is why Storm and Turbo installed two lanes in their facility for testing. It’s more of a true environment of what the ball can do on certain conditions, not what the ball looks like after a kids birthday party just bowled. Thanks for watching, I appreciate it!
@@TrueHouseBowler 😂😂 These are facts! I couldn’t agree more brother! Keep up the good content!
