Ah, the Cherbourg mission. Finally unlocking artillery, and a map designed as a siege battle. I always used to just sit behind fixed defences, wait out the AI until they used up all their supplies, then just roll over them with a huge wave of tanks, bombers and artillery. Good times... 😁
I think you forgot about the At-Base and its units, unless you wanted to go without them. At Guns placed in the forest eat through tanks like cheese. Oh and the wolverines.

You can actually cheese this mission really easily by just building a bunch of artillery and barrage the headquarters. I always try to capture it for a bit more challenge.
Your airfield can base only 7 planes. Its good to have 2 or more and honestly P-40s are pointless because the P-47 is as good to kill enemy fighter if not even better cause it has better resilience. U can use a few bombers to bomb tank lines and then strike with fighter bombers to one shot smaller tanks. Fake assault ruse are also pointless cause the computer know they are fake and never do anything about them really. Its more of a PVP aimed ruse.
Thanks for the tips, I was using fake assault to quite simply slow down their attack. Also I wanted to complete the side objective which I now see was marked on the right hand side.
G2a and amazon still sells r.u.s.e steamkey and the servers are still up since ruse is using uplay's servers. Id even be happy to play with ya if you get a copy.

Flak isn't that dangerous unless in large numbers you could easily take 3 as a single P-47 strafe will kill a flak 20MM.

the secondary objective, isn't it to use a fake offensive (the combined arms one)?
i think you have to send the decoys to a specific sector on the right or left, marked by the black arrows

fake air can cause the enemy to waste ammo on fakes...which is significant for air. vs land "wasting" ammo is minor compared to air
