Eels have always been a mysterious creature in Scandinavia as well. They just show up in certain sweet water lakes and rivers. Live forever and then leave, only to have their "spawn" return. The theory is that they mate somewhere in the Sargasso Sea. People have even captured them and kept them in wells, living on only scraps for more than 100 years. Weird and ancient. (but please don't keep them in wells)
Our neigbors have a big pound it got drained becaude there was a hole in it now they found els in there the sea is more than 100 meters away thorug a fjeld and and a litle forest idk how they got there
I saw an eel migration once in devon England there was tens off thousands all sizes for freshwater eels it was in a stream that ran through a caravan site I'll never forget it! And I'm a lifelong fisherman.👍🏴☠️
They are so docile when he is handling them!
When I lived in NC, sometimes I would hook one (14-15 inches, about as big around as a finger) when fishing, they would twist and twist and twist and slime and slime. Had to cut the line and re-tie the hooks, once an eel was caught, only eels would bite on that line.
@@gregm3685 There would be a little, tap, tap tap, and then it would be like reeling in a clump of weeds, no fight.
Caught a massive one wen I was just a little lad!.. 😨😨 ended up just cutting the line! Afta hour or so jus watching it! N it just shot off back into water!.. been petrified of um since ! Lol.
I knew they could go over land but going through it is much more impressive
They say this is what the Loch Ness monster is.
Could've been the inspiration for Jörmungandr (the Nordic "world serpent")
Salmon in reverse.
Title: Freshwater Eels Cross Land To Get To Seawater.
This is incredible wow I never knew
Amazing video🎥
Wow that's awesome Beautiful and Incredible !!!
Very interesting eels.
I would love to see you prove eels traveling through land.
LOL! Had me curious as well. Me thinks prepositions are not their strong suit...
I was hoping he’d say they must make a mysterious and epic voyage to destroy the one ring in the fires of mount doom
John Jellyman 🤣🤣🤣
Over land...
Not through....
Sangat keren kawan
Remind me of jocinda. Slimy, slippery, don't let anything get in their way and prey on small defenceless things.
Also found in streams of kashmir(pakistan)
Poor eels
Can we eat it?
Supet
100 years for eels to reproduce? That's ridiculous. Either your missing something or there's a food source bloom that encourages reproduction.
It's usually around 40, not 100. Eels can find themselves landlocked and unable to migrate to spawn, if so, they can live up to 150 years.
Reg eels do that too, on the way to the ocean and back up to freshwater...very VERY old news
The last woman i hardly understand her
How much louder than max volume does does my tablet need to be to hear this? Does it need to be played in a room with no other sounds or what? Seems like a whisper on this video and yet the volume is way too loud for other videos..
