Stand Against Casteism in College Festivals ✊🏽

➡️ On the 6th of February, 2023, Jain Deemed to be University hosted its college fest Samyoga- Jain University Youth Fest.
➡️ During their performance for an event under Samyoga- the college contingent Jain University, CMS put forward an incredibly casteist and insensitive skit, as shown in the video.
➡️ The same skit was enacted at another event at another college fest in Bengaluru, hosted by Under25.
➡️ In light of this, it is extremely concerning to see instances of casteist and insensitive behavior perpetuated by Jain University, CMS and Under25.
➡️ Despite the judges of the event and teachers in the audience being told it was a casteist performance, there was no action taken.
➡️ We demand that they publicly apologize for their actions and take concrete steps to educate themselves and others on the importance of inclusivity and sensitivity towards marginalized communities.
➡️ The promotion of harmful and offensive content has no place in any educational or public platform and goes against the ideals that B.R Ambedkar and others have fought so hard to uphold.
