Excellent analysis Peter! You explained nicely that the number 1 balance shaft has two gears, because one of the gears takes contact with the crankshaft!
Thank you. Shop wanted 10 grand to install new engine. Car only worth 1/3 of that when working. Was able to use your videos (and others) to change the rod bearings. Now reassembling. Wish me luck
Free Advice: If your 2.4L 4 cylinder Toyota engine starts to loose oil pressure while vibrating more than usual and there's no nasty metal to metal knocking sound YET, take off the oil pan and check for chunks and debris of balancer RESIN gear plugging your oil pump pick up tube screen. I just did this today. Hopefully the customer didn't run the car(2002 Camry) hard and long enough to hurt the internals. 😬🤞 OEM parts are fairly cheap to fix it, the hard part it's probably the installation, more so if you're working on your back under the car. Nice video.🙂👍
how can you tell the balance shaft is bad? My engine makes knocking/ticking noise and I've checked everything and still can't find where the noise coming from? It seems to be from the top, but everything in specs. I also used a mechanical device to listen to the oil pan, but detect no noise.

Balance shaft error makes hard bass drumming
if the balance shaft is not well fit, can it affect the crafatch engine 2AZ
Yes. It makes Extra VIBRATIONS
I was advised to remove the balance shaft because it damage and causes unusual noise in my Toyota previa car, what will be the consequences
