Today I tried using the 2021 Ford F150 to pull out some overgrown bushes. It did a great job, but is the Kubota B2601 the better option for this type of chore? Watch and find out!

2 helpful tips here. Once a bush, stump, etc. is pulled out, stop right there, and knock all the dirt off before getting too far from the hole. This is alot less messy this way. These weren't too bad, but many are much messier. I've seen people create alot more work for themselves.
Second tip; When pulling something like this, bush, stump, etc., place a wheel in front of the object to act as a fulcrum. The object will now be pulled straight up. It is absolutely amazing how much more leverage this gives in pulling things out. 🙂
I’ve seen videos of that wheel trick and always wanted to try it!
You would think woth sll the tractor time I have accumulated over the years I would be bored watching a youngster like you playing on yours. I really enjoy watching you and listening to your commentary Ed, keep me entertained.
Thanks Bob!
I do remember when you tried to dig up the stump and had trouble. Also, you must get A LOT of steps in a day...especially placing your camera so far away. Great job removing the boxwoods!!!
Lots of steps!
My lazy voice said just use this rope rather than hooking up straps and shackles. Then when the rope broke my lazy voice had nothing to say. Great video Ed.
Haha! Yeah that lazy voice sure is confident at first. 🤣
Great video. I use a product sold at Tractor Supply (not a sponsor) called a grub chain. It is attached to my bucket. When lifting upward it doesn.t slip and deposits the dirt back in the evacuated hole. It works well on skinny saplings which would slip past those lifting straps. Kind regards. Craig
Thanks Craig!
Glad you moved to the grapple. I was 18 and dumb and wrapped a chain around a heavy stump we had pulled out. I was carrying it away with the bucket way up and the stump swinging from the chain. The tractor turned over. I was so lucky to jump clear and learned a very valuable lesson. Keep your load as low as you can.
Oh no! Glad you didn’t get hurt!
I have a great relationship with my lazy voice. Truck or tractor...that looked like fun Ed!
My Lazy Voice figured out a long time ago to leave the grapple on the tractor as the normal default. It gets used more than any other implement that I have here on my property with lots of trees and bushes needing constant attention for overgrowth, storm damage and death. When push comes to shove, though, with pulling tasks my 2-wheel drive truck has pulled the tractor out of trouble more than once.
The grapple stays on as long as it can. I’ve been switching attachments a lot lately. Easy I but still avoid it 🤣
You don’t see a lot of guys use Four Wheel Low. 👍🏻
I do for this type of work
Great video. Haha, yep, that Lazy Voice can be a real drag. The one that says "you don't need the needle-nose, these random pliers you found lying around will work just fine." Or "you don't have to go get the screwdriver, just grab a coin and that screw will be out in no time." But if I had a nickel for every time I listened to it, I'd just end up with nickels lying around all over the house 'cause I didn't bother putting them in the change jar.
Haha! Thank you!
Awesome Ed! Nice seeing all your implements and seeing how they all work. Excellent. That voice is always chattering in my head as well! I want a grapple, and a nice camera walk. What are you doing with the hay?
Thanks Ross. You know I love that grapple! The hay sold to the guys who cut it as part of our farm income.
I was curious of this as well. I used a crane scale on a 5,000lb toyota tacoma vs a 4,500lb tractor. The truck pulled 3,800lbs and the tractor pulled 3,200lbs. Truck has mud tires, so that helps. Tractor fully ballasted would be well over 5k so it would eventually pull ahead at that point. F150 should do really well on the bigger stuff compared to the b26.
Thank you!
Nothing like the grapple. No brainer for me.
I got a set of those hooks too, haven’t used them since the grapple; but tempted sometimes. Great insight. 😮
Awesome. Thank you!
Amazing what you can do with subcompact tractor.
Might as well get another carport building ordered.
Haha! Good idea!
Will that shackle fit in the tow bar on the back of the tractor? (when the stump grinder is off of course). Plus, I think "lazy voice" said don't put down the grapple parking stands! Watching your video shows us different ways to do things. Sometimes easier then the norm!
I think the shackle would fit, but I don’t keep the draw bar on the tractor. And yes “lazy voice” won the leg-stand argument too. 🤣
The grapple is the way to go to pick those up and move them.
Love the grapple!
The truck has more pulling power as long as it has traction… you can cheat a little with the tractor by raising your bucket a little (not a lot). The angle on the strap will put some additional downward force on the front axle and increase traction. With the tractor tires, that may beat the truck on power to the ground. If I had a grapple, I would definitely use it. Since I don’t, to be lazy I’d have to not use the tractor at all, and that would just be silly 😆.
Thanks, Craig!
LOL! So true.... Cheers Ed!
Thanks Gord!
The devil is a liar Ed! Always has been! Great video, thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
Enjoyed the video!!
You did correctly NOT attaching the tow strap to the trailer ball. The ball IS NOT designed for that.
Yeah, I know people do it every day. 😉🤦♂️
BUT you used the correct piece of equipment in the proper manmer. 👍🏼
Thanks! Plus the ball is greasy. 😄👍
@@MyClutteredGarage
Exactly... 👍🏼😉
Lazy voice raises his voice most often when I need to hook up hydraulics or pto.
Right?!
I enjoyed your conversation with your “lazy voice“, Ed!
Thanks Larry!
Ya gotta exercise that grapple every once in a while!
Ed, do you put the tractor transmission into neutral when stepping off if the engine is running?
Yes I do! And apply the brake. 👍
Good Evening Sir Ed 👍😇👌Very Nice Show Of Power With You Ford 👌😇👍💪 Nice Tractor Work Too 👍😇👌💪 You can replant this bushes 🤣👍 Nice Fun Comment about the little Devil lazy voice 🤣👍 OUTSTANDING Demonstration About Using Your Tractor 👍👌😇 Be Well Sir Cheers 🍻🍻 Nice Walk Sir !!!
Thank you David!
I fully expected to hear you say “Hold my beer and watch this!” when you wanted to use the F-150. Great video and quite entertaining. So can your Kubota move those round bales?
Thanks! I don’t know if it could. They are being picked up by another farmer. 👍
Great video Ed! Bring lazy voice back in the future. We all obviously grapple with it….
Ha! Thanks!
The grapple should pull the bushes out
Ed nice video. Can you tell me the brand, model number and size of grapple that you have please. Thanks James
Hi James. I have the Land Pride SGC0660. One of my favorite attachments! Thanks!
Are you going to put tin sides on your carport?
Not yet but maybe. 👍
I'd be curious to see if the grapple would actually pull the bushes. Hmmmm
I’m only going to text 4n1 bucket.
You can’t get any lazier than a 4n1 bucket.
I hate that Lazy voice also Ed. That carport looks like its working out good.👍
Thanks Bob!
Hi Ed, I was hoping to see you run those boxwoods through your woodchipper.
The chipper doesn’t like them!
