5:14 - you do realize that the PC was on carpet floor, so if they were turning the PSU fan downwards, there is a risk of it choking and pop due to overheating, and since there is no external GPU near the PSU, the airflow path is not gonna be a big deal for either the PSU or APU.
I was in your boat for a long time. I kept saving and now I have a GTX 1080 and Ryzen 1700X that I got for $200 and $130 respectively, the GPU used and the CPU new. Keep at it, and get an RX 580 8GB for $200 or less.
