It was a very "safe" Friday the 13th movie that hit all the right marks and could have been a good launching point for a new series, the planned sequel had an excellent script and with good direction could have been the best F13 film ever. Unfortunately it didn't happen. Hopefully after the series gets out of legal limbo Blumhouse can get a hold of the rights and give us something worthwhile.

Yeah Anti-climatic, but why the hell not? -Otherwise great review. I too was a little surprised by your verdict. I felt that this particular remake was more or less a love letter to the early days of the franchise.
+TONYGILLEY Thanks! Sometimes it's tough deciding if a remake deserves the Boot. While Friday the 13th (2009) isn't the worst in the series and paid homage to the first four films, it didn't explore anything new and the only thing I enjoyed from the film was the new version of Jason. I leaned more towards booting it, but wasn't sure because there are worse sequels. So for the first time, I did a poll on my website and 70.8% said Boot it!
+StitchedTogetherPics Since the remake was placed at #7 during your ranking of the Friday the 13th films, does that mean you didn't like any of the movies placed before the remake? It was a little difficult to tell since you were surprisingly lenient on the installments you supposedly disliked (except for Jason Goes to Hell).
+Masked Guy For the ranking videos I have to sum up my opinions instead of going too much into detail. Especially the remake because I knew I'd be talking about it later. Otherwise I could talk in-depth about these 12 films for hours. I placed the remake ahead of sequels like Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X, Jason Takes Manhattan and A New Beginning. Yes, those are my least favorite sequels and I don't watch them as often. In the video I said that I liked that the remake went back to basics. There was no Space, Manhattan, Body Swapping, Versus or Copycat Killer gimmick. Just Jason killing people in the woods. The remake isn't the worst in the series, which is why I thought briefly about sparring it. However, for the first time I did a poll on my site and 70.8% agreed with me to Boot it. If it were a sequel, it'd be average. But as a reboot/remake, it failed to bring anything new and warrant it's existence other than to make money off a well known title.
+StitchedTogetherPics That makes sense. While I thought the remake was pretty decent, I agree that it didn't really elevate the Friday the 13th franchise in any meaningful way like it could have. Hopefully the upcoming CW series will be pretty good. And on a bit of a side note...I actually liked Jason X. Sure, it was ridiculous, but I still thought it was a pretty fun film. Who knows, maybe my standards for the series were lowered after terrible installments like Jason Takes Manhattan and Jason Goes to Hell? Whatever the reason(s), Part 2, The Final Chapter, Jason Lives and The New Blood will always be my four favorite entries in the franchise.
i always come back to this review just for this one skit 10:12 the Manhattan line gets me everytime , your delivery is just so perfectly comedic , and the subtle edit to cut the music at the exact time helps accentuate the viewer's attention to the line.

theDragons Keep Jason was never the issue....only the tone and the other characters felt too generic.....for example the POV shots with the "ki ki ki ma ma ma" sound from the original series added to the identity of the overall series....in the remake it was for the most part absent...the characters were almost completely unlikable in the remake, where in the original series (up until part 7) everyone was very likeable....but Jason like I said was never the issue
JG Darhk um to me the characters in the originals we're never likeable, they all we're asshole besides like 2 people in each movie. I never really watched the friday the 13th for the counselors anyway i watch because of Jason and his story which is extensive if you dig deeper beyond the movies, hell even the movies can tell a good amount of information about Jason that even a casual viewer can enjoy. So in short i like the remake not for the counselor and not just for the kills but Jason himself is intimidating again and even more violent and aggressive also is fast and smart.
theDragons Keep Maybe my definition of an asshole is off lol but I remember watching the movies and never thinking that at all....horny? Yes....but aside from part 7 and 8....I can't think of anybody that was mean spirited for the sake of just being a asshole....Jason was good....his motivation were decent enough in the remake....but to me it just never had that F13 feel to it....none of the score, tone or traits those movies possessed outside of your generic slasher film
I've been watching this channel for 5 years and I'm still amazed about the dedication that he puts into these videos that was a great transition into the forest

Jeffrey Coogan it’s a remake of Part 1, part 2, Part 3 & the Final Chapter. Part 3 because Jason finds his hockey mask & The final chapter the Clay Miller is a remake version of Rob Dier who both of them are searching for their sister, the Jenna Character is a remake version of both Chris Higgins & Trish Jarvis because Both Jenna & Chris owned a house property for teenagers to party at & Both Jenna & Trish helped Clay & Rob find their sister
the effects you pulled off in this were great! definitely one of your best boots to reboots. keep up the good work! :) also i gotta ask, is your outfit inspired at all by Wallace from Nightmare Creatures 2? its been on my mind for a bit

@@redjaygaming9757 only a few characters in the originals were actual assholes though.
Greatest episode EVER!
+The Atari Creep Thanks!
I've been watching this channel for 5 years and I'm still amazed about the dedication that he puts into these videos that was a great transition into the forest
Andy I just wanna say your content really entertains me and your funny asf and I've been waching your content for 5 years
Thanks for watching so long!
That opening was killer!
+DoctorFinn Thanks!
Splitting up. It'll increase our chances of survival. lmfao
Andy, thanks for doing what you do, I've been a fan 2 years now and you never fail to make me laugh when I need it ;) 80s horror fan till the end ✊
"I have come here to roast marshmallows and kill teens, and I'm all out of marshmallows."
"Oh God, what is that, the sun?" Oh I've felt that plenty of times in my life. Love the work Andys!
I always joked that jason in the remake was killing intruders to protects his weed he was growing
This movie is a bit of guilty pleasure of mine, it's passable popcorn entertainment. I especially like Derek Mears as Jason. Dude has great body language and presence. I also remember genuinely being shocked when Danielle Panabaker's character gets axed, LOL.
That Freddy makeup is incredible. Props!
+Adriana Hedden Thanks! It's really a silicone mask that I ordered a while ago.
Why does this channel only have 21k subs?? It's that underrated?? It should have more than 100k! So much work put into these that it deserves way more subs.
Have been waiting for this and you didn't disappoint! Great job👍👍
+Milo Taylor Thanks!
I love that you know Supernatural
Wow, you've got some of the best production values I've ever seen on UA-cam. You must have put a crap-ton of effort into this! Ever think of doing your own horror movie?
I can't wait for Willard, Hills have Eyes and any more you got down, man....you need more subs thankfully I showed all my friends your channel and we all became fans
Thanks for watching and sharing!
I rewatched this at least a dozen times and I love it every time!
finally someone made an horror remake comparison channel. subbed. thats a whole lotta subbed.
Thanks for watching and subscribing!
keep it up and you'll be a god in no time.
Not the Freddy vs Jason vs Ash movie we deserve, but the one we needed. Excellent work dude!
Nice reference to Scream by the way.
Rock salt. Dance-offs. Freddy. Jason. Andy. Music. it's got everything
Also Christopher walken!
I love your style, man.
Thanks!
+StitchedTogetherPics hey Andy I was wondering if you could do boots to reboots but with Comics like Alias and Jessica Jones? Thanks but could you do it like your maniac video your boots to reboots aren't the same but I still love your vids
The greatness of this skit can never be topped. We see Freddy and Jason with chokeslams, chairshots, and WWF Attitude Era. Truly awesome.
Nice video. Do you still do reviews of non-horror remakes? Because if you did, I'd suggest to do the remakes of The Poseidon Adventure. And if not, the crown jewel of Platinum Dunes' remake suckage, THE HITCHER.
+Gregory House
The Hitcher remake would definitely get the boot.
Masked Guy Agree.
Yes, a review of The Hitcher would be great!
Bruh, This is my favorite episode you've done. Not just because Jason Voorhees is my favorite Slasher. But you practically Put my 3 favorite Horror franchises into one skit. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
I am obsessed with this channel!!! keep the videos coming!!! Because I am becoming your Biggest Fan!!!
Thanks for watching! I'm glad you dig the channel :)
Yay!!! An answer! Almost as rare as a unicorn o.o
“Well I wanted help from the cenobites but they were a little weird for me” 😂 I’d pay to see that interaction
Happy Friday the 13th Andy
+David Brown Thanks! Happy Friday the 13th :)
I think the reason I don't COMPLETELY hate this remake is because Derek Mears as Jason is fucking terrifying. In the movie AND in real life!
Excellent video once again. Love the intro!!!
+boh0555 Thanks!
My favorite horror reviewer. Hope you're doing well "Andy"
This movie is really more of a remake of Friday the 13th part 2.
Definitely subscribing. You are definitely the best movie reviewer I've ever seen on UA-cam. Good job and keep it up. Amazing costumes also
Thank you!
the effects you pulled off in this were great! definitely one of your best boots to reboots. keep up the good work! :)
also i gotta ask, is your outfit inspired at all by Wallace from Nightmare Creatures 2? its been on my mind for a bit
Thanks! And no, I've never played that game.
Where did you get those 3D glasses? All I got was 2 pair of plain paper ones with my copy of Part 3.
+violentmetalhead I got those Friday the 13th themed 3D paper glasses with my copy of Part 3 on dvd when it came out.
Bro this is my favorite of your reviews!
Thanks!
All his scenes with Freddy and Jason could of been a frickin movie
I'm impressed with the Freddy and Jason costumes
Thank you!
That's a credible Ted White impression. Good stuff.
And another awesome review. best...CW...impression...ever
I love the WWE Wrestling Match between Freddy and Jason, I can hear JR scream "He gave him a Choke slam from Hell" and "Oh God, what a vicious chair shot"......love this guy, great content !!!!
I love the voice you do for Jason
Just wondering dude, are you going to be doing reviews of foreign remakes like the grudge or old boy, stuff like that?
+Pip Stanton The Ring, Grudge, Oldboy and Let the Right One In are a few on my list.
Sweet, looking forward to them :)
+StitchedTogetherPics there's a cabin fever remake
Best review show I have ever seen nice use of old Friday the 13th stuff like the music that opens the 3ed movie and rehashing the offal dance seen from part 4 I even liked the way your Jason looked better than the remakes call me old fashion but I miss the work shirt and slacks look never cared much for the jacket or the way they make Jason's head look now a days ,as you can tell I loved the work you put into your show outside of the review please keep the shows coming
+rob farrow Thanks very much!
StitchedTogetherPics Your welcome Andy, after seeing that I had to subscribe.
4:57 Michel bay has destroyed something else we love can we just old yeller him now
Matthew Schwebes Yea before he ruins another horror and/or Children's TV show
@Razh 80 At least the first 3 TF movies were fun
@@medusa6491 uuuuuh, just because what came after was even worse, doesn't make them "fun" in my book
For a while there I was afraid this wasn't going to get the boot, but you came through. You always boot the ones I want you to and protect the ones that deserve to be.
