      Kristine Jeon IV means intravenous. It pushes medication into your veins and throughout your body through a syringe that is attached to your body.

    This all sounds so exciting oh my gosh, I can feel your excitement just radiating off lol. I'm in my first semester of nursing school and I just started struggling with my classes and grades, and it honestly made me feel like such a failure because I don't want to fail nursing school you know? This just motivated me so much and I'm so happy for you! Congrats!

    I’m terrible when it comes to math; but I’m still pursuing pre-nursing. When the time permits can you please do a video on the importance of math and what to expect. Thanks in advance if its possible 😊

      You need math to calculate dosages for medication administration. The type of math used is called dimensional analysis. It’s actually very easy once you get the hang of it, and I hate math!

    Lexi I loved your honesty!!! You didn't came out saying everything was prefect, you related to most people that will be nurses in the future. I agree with the stress pressure from the work load but what make you into the best nurse. Stay encouraged girl you will be great at what you set your mind to. The learning process never stop😀.

    Hi I'm a retired Nurse. I can tell from listening to you that you are going to be a fantastic Nurse because you have an open mind and you are not afraid to put yourself out there to learn. I like the way you are able to humble yourself. Having that trait in nursing is so important. I would luv to work with a person like you!

  • @beccalynn6792

    I love how you don’t fake the funk making it seem like you know everything already and as if your not struggling with it. I hate when I hear new nurses talking like they don’t need help with anything because I know that’s bs there’s just no way and you proved that completely. It’s reassuring to hear you talk about your experience the way you do because I know I would be feeling the exact same way and it’s nice to be reminded that we all go through that “running around like a chicken with your head cut off” or “looking like a deer in headlights” phase when starting a new job. Xoxo

  • @lisaopelma
    @lisaopelma 6 років тому +2

    Thank you for your honest feelings in regards to this new experience. I am a new ER nurse and I have similar feelings, hoping it will get better with time and I will gain more confidence in myself. I work at a rural hospital and I will be the only RN in charge of the ER. I struggle with telling everyone what to do who have already been there much longer than me, as well as the Paramedic-PCT. I'm nervous as well, but excited .

  • @kendrajones16
    @kendrajones16 6 років тому +3

    I really love your vulnerability and how you share your experiences with us. It really helps me realize that everyone feels these overwhelming feelings, especially when you said feeling like you’re in the way, I’ve felt that before on a new job. And it’s not a good feeling. But I love how you’re taking everything as it comes and you’re not scared to make a mistake and just learn and grow from being the new kid on the block. I’m so excited to start nursing school next year! I don’t know you but I’m really proud of you and everything that you’ve done so far! Keep it up Lexi! And please keep sharing😊

I just started my rotation in medicine (Geri) and my teacher is a current RN in the ED. she has a million stories about patients/cases shes encountered and it sounds made up sometimes because things can get crazy! its like no other type of nursing. Girl I’ve been an RN fer 4 years and finished my BSN this past December. Was a home health nurse with a pediatric hospice client. Only pt I’ve ever had. I KNOW I need hospital experience like yesterday. Watched a handful of your blogs and I am SO grateful you share your experiences. Keep feeling scared I’ll get hired. Now listening to you... I think I’ll be downright mad if I don’t get to start in the ER 😂 keep up your great work!

    Loved everything about this video. I've always known ER was stressful and challenging but I also know how much fun it can be with all the excitement and "mystery" like you said, with not knowing what case will come in through those doors. I'm glad you're doing good and progressing as well as learning a lot everyday. You inspire me everyday and motivate me so much to keep striving in the program and to never give up! Much love and wishing you all the best ❤

    I LOVE your passion. Can I just take a second to thank you for being so passionate and hard-working? Many nurses I've come across where I live don't seem very engaged in their job or in compassionate patient care. Maybe they're just burnt out, and that's fair, but I'm always so grateful when I see nurses like you. We need more eager nurses who put in effort like you. Don't you ever change!

    I couldn't graduate from my diploma nursing school without starting 25 Iv"s on real live patients. Everything Foley's, NG tubes, colostomy care had to be done with live patients. REAL patients. Worked whole shifts before we graduated. I feel bad for the students today they do not get enough clinical. I was just has a new graduate care for me after my mastectomy. She had never hung blood before. Really never. Sad. But I tried to tell her that was okay by next week she would be a pro at it. The other nurse and I think she will be great in a week. Smart but not enough real clinical.

    I love your hair and your videos! You are lucky you got a good preceptor. Mine was horrible and I felt like I was on my own. The ER seems like a scary place but then you work Telemetry and you realize that ER is awesome because you get rid of your patients quick instead of being stuck with a patient that is crashing for 12 hrs.. The ER is the place to be. PICU and NICU! Dont even think about it! Peds is heart breaking and I could not bear causing pain to the little kids. I lasted a week on PICU. But if you can deal with that, go for it. If you want to continue your education, go to ICU and become a CRNA. I would have done that If I could stomach the ICU but I cant. Bleh!

    Hi Alexis, can you do a video on your experience finding a job as a new grad? I've heard finding the first job as a new grad can be difficult for various reasons, especially as an ER nurse. Congratulations though!

    Can you do a scrubs collection video? :)

      I don't get it? You can own scrubs? I am from Europe and we have to put them in a laundry bag before we go home. Not allowed to take them home, hospital property. I am not a nurse but will work in a hospital as sterilization tech(?)

      Idellle Most places have color codes so you can wear any style scrubs just as long as it the right color, but some places you can any kind of scrubs.

      So the hospital do not provide scrubs so you have to buy your own? I think it is a bit unhygienic to take them home and wash them.

      Where I live, and I believe some places in the states, you can buy your own scrubs but some hospitals require nurses to wear certain colours. For example they might tell the nurses to wear burgandy, the doctors to wear royal blue, etc. It's recommended that you change out of your scrubs and shoes before you leave the hospital and put it in a laundry bag or something so you can wash them right away.

      Idellle In the states where I live we buy and own our own scrubs. We do have to wear certain colors every job in the hospital has a certain set of colors they can wear.
