As someone who's never been on a cruise I'll tell ya that ain't a small ship to me that's huge. I've been watching your videos and other cruise vloggers and I know royal caribbean has bigger ships than this. I wanna start taking my family on cruises and i wanna do every cruise line a family can do like Disney/Royal caribbean. Start off small and work our way onto bigger boats. And this boat looks amazing.
Also, should you decide to cruise, avoid booking your very first cruise (especially in the Carribean) the "JASON" months (July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov) because of the hurricane season. Surely the cruising fare would be the cheapest during this time of the year, but it may put a damper for a first time cruise experience.
My first cruise was on Disney Fantasy! We’ve been on Fantasy twice, then we went onto Oasis, Harmony, Anthem and then we go on Wonder in 2 weeks. Will say there is a LOT more to do on the big ships. We were extremely bored on Anthem.
It’s hard to imagine that the Sovereign of the Seas was once the largest cruise ship in the world when it came out in December 1988. It was the first cruise ship that introduced the atrium design. All the subsequent Royal Caribbean ships would eventually take over the title of world’s largest cruise ship. My family and I sailed on her back in August 1992 when we managed to avert Hurricane Andrew. One day, we hope to sail on Wonder of the Seas or an Icon class. 😎
Great video! Grandeur is the last of my favorite RCCL ships. Nordic Empress (renamed Empress of the Seas) and the Sovereign-class ships (3 of them) were always my favorites; all small ships. The biggest reason we liked smaller ships is that you're more likely to make friends on board. On the big ships, you never see the same passengers (or staff) twice. Such anonymity.
Thank you Kyle and Casey for the views of this ship. Looking forward to more views. My late wife and I cruised on it back in the day. Brings back memories. Enjoy my friends.
Absolutely love Grandeur. We sailed on her last July and had the best time. Wonderful service! Great food, great vibe. Definitely an older crowd, but that's ok for me because I am the older crowd 😂. Love your channel Kyle!
My wife and I were on two of the older ships for Royal Caribbean. The first one we were on the Viking of the Seas. We had a inside cabin. Did not mind it at all. The other ship was the Majesty of the Seas. Always had a great time on both. Hope you to have a great time. Merlyn
I'm boarding Rhapsody of the Seas (the 2nd oldest, I believe), and was nervous as I've heard such mixed reviews of these older ships. Your video has reassured me, so thanks so much for this one!
I sailed on her during the inaugural season and again in '05. Majesty still takes the case for my favorite RCCL ship but I have many found memories on Grandeur and like Majesty will be sad to see the day when she is retired from RCCL. I took my mother on Voyager a year ago and we had a wonderful time! I'm trying to get her to agree to another here in the near future, perhaps one of the big ones although personally I like smaller ships!
As a Diamond Plus cruiser, Grandeur was my 1st cruise in 2001. Loved it. RC has taken really good care of her !! Was on Grandeur in February in an interior cabin. We always book interior for price point, so we can continue taking cruises on RC. LOVE ROYAL and the CREW 😅
Set up just like the Vision of the Seas. Hands down one of our most favorite cruises to date. Small, quaint, and VERY relaxing. And the staff on the smaller ships is by far much better than the megaships.
Interior cabins are actually so cool I love them. Boat looks gorgeous, I have the opportunity to go August 2025!!!! So excited :), Love this guy's vibe
We sailed on Grandeur of the Seas last month on our first Royal Caribbean cruise. It was very well maintained for its age, but we did have some issues. Our cruise was for 7 nights, and while we were hoping for relaxation, things got a little boring after a few days. We'd probably sail on it a again if it were maybe a 4 or 5 night cruise, at the most.
I loved watching the ship go under the Skyway Bridge. We live in Bradenton and see it all the time and go over there on our boat, but that was a whole different perspective!!! 🥰 Never cruised out of Tampa, because we usually do Disney cruises😊 May have to book this ship now!!!
I was on Oasis my last cruise with my older grandchildren, so it’ll be interesting to be on Grandeur. It’s my two youngest grandchildren’s cruise so my daughter wanted a small to keep track of them. Glad to see your video. Looks like it’s up to RC’s standards.
I'm having fun watching this! I'm going to have an odd experience this year by sailing on the largest RCL ship, Wonder of the Seas, for a family trip, and then this one for a work conference.
That bridge is the sunshine skyway bridge. And yes about 40 years ago a boat ran into and knock down one side of that bridge and a few dead. A bus and a few car's went down.
At 11 minutes in...I am loving this mellow, smaller, relax, eat, drink, relax drink, eat ,drink,eat...vibe!!! Let's Go! I am 58 and a widower. Never cruised and have been doing some cruising video research with your videos. So far my favorite channel!!! Subbed and all notifications on! Alcohol package info and pricing would be cool to hear about too!
I think the reason not too many kids is because not much for them to do. No water slides, zip line etc. It's become the norm to have all the bells and whistles. Back in the day the cruise was relaxation and the entertainment was getting off the ship for excursions. Parents needed all the bells and whistles to keep their kids occupied. I think the cruise lines wanted the family trade. You and Casey will have a chill time.
You've gained a sub from me! You and Casey are so energetic and this video alone makes me want to go back and watch more! We are going on this ship next year (just got the paperwork done yesterday) and it'll be my first time in a balcony room. We've been on the Carnival Victory (2016) and Carnival Fantasy (2019), so I'm very much looking forward to a different cruise line, just to "expand my horizons" a bit. Thanks again!
My first cruise was when I was 9 months old but my first cruise I remember was back in 2018 when I was 12 years old and it was on majesty of the seas it was very old
I had no idea it was the oldest & smallest. I'm getting ready to travel with my family this June. It looks like I'll be in for a nice surprise. I like how you don't feel so confined. There's so much space to move around in. I really didn't think cruises were for me. But I see them as opportunity to try as many different cuisines or enjoy my favorite ones for less. The other benefit they offer is that you can visit countries you want to explore further later on & stay longer. Thank you for the tour!
Thanks for sailing out of Tampa! We get all of the old ships over here. I’ve been debating going on one but not sure if it’s worth it with the older ships. I’ll keep watching!
So I just came back from this ship on July 15 - 4 nights to Cozumel. I am a seasoned cruiser on the much smaller ships over the last 30 yrs. The Grandeur (even being the smallest in the RC fleet) was plenty big for me. I loved the art deco period of furnishings of the 1920’s.. This was a relaxing trip for me and I wasn’t upset it didn’t have all the amenities the mega ships have. Our waiter and asst waiter were fantastic, we met great friends, had a spacious oceanview cabin and had a fun trip! 😊 I’m looking fwd to another trip on this ship! ❤😎😍
Just booked a 9 night out of Fort Lauderdale in November. It is going to the ABC countries and did it for the itinerary. My first small ship was Monarch in 1994 and I thought it was large. I’ve been on Vision and just recently the Jewel and love the small ships. That being said, going on Utopia in a few weeks and can’t wait for that one. Glad you had an interior to show as that is what I am sailing on. Great video.
My fam was on Grandeur in 2018 to Bermuda for a large fam cruise out of Baltimore. We had to go under a bridge to leave and return. We weren’t impressed. First time cruise for my daughters. Not enough entertainment for us. Had a rough day at sea on return where 85% of ship was sick.
Hello. Personally, this is a ship class that I love. For me, who worked as a sailor, she gives me a bit more of a "boat feeling". The bigger ships are as cool as they come, especially Rccl which time and time again comes with new builds that are game changers. Very nice that you liked this old lady. Thank you for a really nice review. Will start following you / Adam & Camilla from Sweden
I was on her sister Rapsody of the sea last year, February, on an 11 day cruise, leaving from Barbados. It was my first cruise with Royal Caribbean, but l have cruised with other cruise lines before. But l will say l absolutely enjoyed it. l took my mom with me. I don't like the theme park vibe. l prefer classic style cruising that are more relaxed, even though im in my 30's lol and Rapsody did just that. I watched this blog because l am considering taking grandeur next February on a 9 day out of Fort Lauderdale. You guys just helped me make up my mind. I'm definitely booking it. Thank you. Love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤
Always enjoy your videos. I am sailing on the Granduer in October and the Wonder in January. Very happy to see they have done such a great job keeping the Granduer in such good shape. Looking forward to the next videos, and I just made Platinum too.
Went to Cozumel and costa maya back in 2010 on this ship out of Tampa. It was nice, met a few cool crew members. Crazy time, actually rented a jeep in I think costa maya? Got to the other end of the island and the jeep wouldn't start. Good thing it was manual transmission!
I went on this ship with my kids in 2008. We had a blacony. It was great. We had a great time and the food was great. My kids were 11 and 13 so my oldest was able to walk around the boat on hos own but my 11 year old had to be with someone and he enjoyed the kids club.😊
You looked at sparkman's wharf around 8 minutes. It is a great area in Tampa, along with Armature Works, to grab food and have fun by the Riverwalk in Tampa. That airport was the landing spot for the very first commercial air flight, ever, in the world, from St. Petersburg to Tampa.
Hi, new viewer here, after 42 cruises, we always stay in an inside cabin. We never spend that much time in the cabin, it's cheaper, and as my old boss used to say..."Once you close your eyes, it's the same as the penthouse!"
Love the cruising VIBES! That ship reminds me a lot of Radiance OTS. We had a blast! The older/smaller ships are also less expensive. Will be a culture shock for me to go from small ship to ICON in January! Def start tagging your ducks! Would be great to see where they end up! THANKS as always for taking us along! Wendy Lady
We sailed the Majesty of the Seas in 2018 which was a bit smaller but I feel the smaller ships are more intimate, though they have less things to do. We also sailed out of Tampa.
Absolutely love your cruise vlogs. However, getting some PTSD from this one. Went on the sister ship of the Granduer the Enchantment last June. Ended up with Covid and had to quarantine. Fun fact if you end up having to quarantine they will deliver main dining room food to your room. I wasn't missing lobster night lol
You were going under the Skyway bridge. I live south side of the bridge. Their was a cruise ship that crashed into that bridge a few years ago Also, some people illegally bungee jumped over that bridge and got hurt.
way back 2010 my frist cruiseship the royal carribiean the name of the ship im gonna board this ship on 24 this month together with my sister and her family for 7 days im really excited to board again but its not really big and not crowded ship even though is old ship its still look nice inside thanks for sharing this video
OMG!! Passed by both ships/terminals on my way home!! I’ve gone on the Carnival Paradise before, never this ship, hmmm. Just might check it out. I like the smaller ships and passengers!! Bon Voyage
what timing to have your video pop up! i just booked this ship yesterday for a 7 day cruise in the heart of hurricane season (early Sept). fare was good and i live nearby so if canceled no big deal for us. although i still think about how you spent a hurricane at Disney, lol.
Great video, I will be going on this ship for the first time in sept 16 2023, been on the independence of the sea and the Enchantment both where in 2019, all where balcony rooms, and this one too, the interior looks great too always wanted to know what interior rooms looked like it, sad im older than the ship..lol but it doesn't look that old, thank you for the video😊
I’m from the area that bridge is called the Skyway bridge and it has been rebuilt. A ship hit it in the 80’s I believe. It connects pinellas and manatee county.
Been on a lottsa boatrides of many dimensions. The only advantage I see on the largest ships is that they are so stable that you are much less likely to experience motion sickness. About ten years ago I was on such a big ship they did not bother to strap everything down for bad weather. There was a blizzard that had such powerful wind that everything was shifting everywhere. This ship has all the nice things that an old fart could appreciate and lacks things that I do not care for. I love little children WHEN THEY ARE QUIET. this review makes it look like I won't have to purchase a limited access lounge membership. Two geriatrics are looking forward to celebrating an anniversary on board in December.
I used to get rubber ducks with the names of various ships of the Norwegian cruise line. When I wanted to get more to round out my fleet they only had models of ships and no more ducks. I am subscribing here especially to find out what is this business with the ducks? Does royal Caribbean have ducks with the ship names on them?
That was such a beautiful video.. I've been watching your video for years and could tell how important your sister was to you, makes me think about how unfair life can be sometimes. Thank you for sharing such a personal part of your life with us.
Kyle, This cruise the boat is 100% using The Gulf of Mexico. This other cruises were in The Atlantic Ocean and Caribbean Sea with Bahamas boat travel. Make sure you both get plenty of outdoor breeze. These smaller ships it’s east to get seasick.
We just got done with her very first cruise independence of the sea out of Port Canaveral. We never sailed out of Tampa. What is the name of the parking garage you guys were at?
He literally just did a few park videos. And he said he’s moving towards more of a lifestyle vlog. You’re not the only person he makes content for. Have a good day!
@@MiaSimsPeriod You’re right. None of my business. I think he’s threatened by the other vloggers out there and felt it was time to move on. One day vlogging will no longer be considered a job and everyone will have to do something new. I grew up in the 70s and have seen soo much technology come and go.
The bridge links St. Pete to Palmetto. Clearwater is North of St. Petersburg. As an aside, I've always thought one of the cool things about cruising is the complete lack of a need to carry a purse.
New Subscriber Here: I am going on my first cruise this week and have been bingeing your cruise vlogs for nearly a week now. You and Casey are awesome and I am so glad to have these cruise vlogs to watch. I am so psyched for my cruise on the Liberty.
My kids love watching your videos! We are checking out the potential of this shop out of Boston to Canada. I absolutely love that you called the carved roast beef, caramel roast beef 🤣🤣
Props for always timing your on-boarding so well in every darn cruise. Also Casey is such a great co-pilot for these trips. Looks like you all are having so much fun.
We love the Royal Radiance class ships...have sailed on them all. Looking forward to Serenade in October. Perfect sized ships for two old people from Green Bay! 😎
Grandeur is a really incredible ship. The staff are some of the best at sea, the food is great, and the size is just perfect. You dont need to take the elevator anywhere if you dont choose to. I'm in love with the Lady G
23:48 I paused to try to see what wine you got because we’re going on a cruise here soon but you showed the white wines and ordered a red so it isn’t pictured lol I hope this is/was an amazing cruise for you
ill actually be going in mid july, so im watching to see, by the way, mind telling me if the rooms are cramped or more open? by the way ill be sure to get a shrimp cocktail
Thank you for a great look for a great mature Grand Lady. I've been on GOS many times and will be going on a 7 night in August, 23. I was wondering if she has been serviced and maintained and it appears to be the case. Enjoy your cruise! Bill
I work at a spa as a massage therapist on the Oregon Coast. My resort is a premium experience and the price reflects that. What Royal is charging though. Wow!!! That's criminal. 🤯
My husband Dave and I got married on this ship out of Baltimore MD in 2014. We loved it! Our cruise was in October and went up to Maine and Canada. October cruising up north was a little bit of a rough time at sea but it was still a fun time. ❤
As someone who's never been on a cruise I'll tell ya that ain't a small ship to me that's huge. if you do a cruise one time you would like to do it everytime, cruising is a different feeling.for sure try it out its a great familytime together
Then Oasis will be a world for you lol
Also, should you decide to cruise, avoid booking your very first cruise (especially in the Carribean) the "JASON" months (July, Aug, Sept, Oct, Nov) because of the hurricane season. I went on this with my kids for a 9 nigjt cruise in 2008 right when Freedom of the seas came out. We had a great time on Granduer.
i love those smaller ships (70,000 to 95,000 tons) with 1,500/2,500 passengers over this new theme parks of the seas !
I would like to see them do an NCL Jade review!
I like the bigger ones best!!!
A good inside stateroom hack. Leave tv on the live picture of the bow of the ship. That way when the sun rises, the tv will light up as well.
It’s hard to imagine that the Sovereign of the Seas was once the largest cruise ship in the world when it came out in December 1988. It was the first cruise ship that introduced the atrium design. I was on The Sovereign in 1989, it was amazing. Now that ship was scuttled and lays on ocean floor 😢
It was super-modern for the time. Royal Caribbean has set a lot of design trends.
Great video! Grandeur is the last of my favorite RCCL ships. Nordic Empress (renamed Empress of the Seas) and the Sovereign-class ships (3 of them) were always my favorites; all small ships. This was my first cruise ship, Grandeur of the Seas. It was huge to me but I had no frame of reference. Enjoyed my experience.
When you drive into Tampa via westbound i-4, you can see the ship in the port of Tampa waiting to go
true
I'm boarding Rhapsody of the Seas (the 2nd oldest, I believe), and was nervous as I've heard such mixed reviews of these older ships. Your video has reassured me, so thanks so much for this one!
I sailed on this ship back in the 90’s and it was considered one of the largest at the time now this one can fit on The Oasis Class

And yes, Casey, you can take it with you. They will replate it and put a dome over it to take to your room if you just ask!
When you do the set dining time like 6:30 or 8:30 you just walk in and never sand in line, my time there is (usually) always a line.
Set up just like the Vision of the Seas. Hands down one of our most favorite cruises to date. Small, quaint, and VERY relaxing. And the staff on the smaller ships is by far much better than the megaships.

He doesn’t know anything about ships. I’ve been on 10. He calls the portals a port hole.🙄
@@DianaPixieDust The windows on a ship are portholes. A portal is how you access a webpage link.
@@DianaPixieDust he knows. He made a joke about the “mustard” on a previous video. You all haven’t seen much of his antics have you.

way back 2010 my frist cruiseship the royal carribiean the name of the ship im gonna board this ship on 24 this month together with my sister and her family for 7 days im really excited to board again but its not really big and not crowded ship even though is old ship its still look nice inside thanks for sharing this video
First ship we cruised, I remember being overwhelmed by the size. How things have changed.
I sailed on this ship in 2019. She is a quaint beauty. Can’t wait to revisit her through your vlogs. Thanks for sharing your experience!
Been thinking about sailing this ship. We live in Tampa and there is something cool about sailing out of your home town.
I sailed out of Tampa on the Serenade last November. It was my first cruise and it was so much fun!
OMG!! Passed by both ships/terminals on my way home!! I’ve gone on the Carnival Paradise before, never this ship, hmmm. Just might check it out. I like the smaller ships and passengers!! Bon Voyage
Thanks for this review. My husband I go on this ship in October to the Bahamas for a 5 day cruise!
I'm a hour and a half from tampa we going on wonder of the seas in November this year for Thanksgiving
what timing to have your video pop up! i just booked this ship yesterday for a 7 day cruise in the heart of hurricane season (early Sept). fare was good and i live nearby so if canceled no big deal for us. although i still think about how you spent a hurricane at Disney, lol.
Just got off Grandeur last week, loved her beauty.
her old beauty is kept up well
Anybody else is looking for 684 on the wine list
Omg me!!!!! For a good 3 minutes!!!! 😂😂😂
I think Kyle needed to put on his glasses : )
+1
Spent a few minutes there
Just booked a 12 day cruise in March on this ship. Thanks for the insight!!
Oh wow, you went under the sunshine skyway bridge! I am always petrified to drive on that bridge!
When Carved = caramel... 🤷🏽♂️🤷🏽♂️
Hey everyone makes mistakes
I’ve just went on my 3rd cruise last week and still all 3 times I’ve been in an interior cabin and ima just say I’ve had the best sleep ever in those.
HAHA Super small he says ? My first cruise was on the Regal Princess. Circa 1992. HUGE for that time period. 910 passengers and it was awesome!
We just got done with her very first cruise independence of the sea out of Port Canaveral. We never sailed out of Tampa. What is the name of the parking garage you guys were at?
Why all the cruises not Disney Parks anymore? Most people I know don’t cruise.
Looks like a beautiful Ship! Have a great time so fun watching 🎉 Love all the cruise info you are giving. It makes me want to go on one 🥰
We were just talking about this Ship. Catching up on these videos today! Can’t wait to see how it compares to the Voyager & Freedom classes! 🛳️
i went on that ship agust 5 and my favorite part was when I went to go snorkeling at Cozumel
We sailed Lady G last year and loved it!!!!
Props for always timing your on-boarding so well in every darn cruise. Also Casey is such a great co-pilot for these trips. Looks like you all are having so much fun.
thanks, somehow I haven't missed a timing which im surprised too,
We are going on Grandeur out of Miami in January 2024! So nice to see it before going!!
This is the only ship I've ever been on. We went to Bermuda and it was a great ship and a wonderful trip.
Well it’s 10 months later and I went… I forgot the shrimp cocktail
I sailed this ship in 2002. It was so relaxing.
Thank you for a great look for a great mature Grand Lady. I've been on GOS many times and will be going on a 7 night in August, 23. I was wondering if she has been serviced and maintained and it appears to be the case. Enjoy your cruise!
Bill
I was on Grandeur in June and am taking another one on her in Nov 2024. Love that ship!!
The skyway bridge is terrifying to drive on. You can feel your car move when it’s windy and if wind is too bad they will close it down
Grandeur ranks between QE2 (70,327) and the Norway (76,049) in terms of gross tonnage
I work at a spa as a massage therapist on the Oregon Coast. My resort is a premium experience and the price reflects that. What Royal is charging though. Wow!!! That's criminal. 🤯
I did part of the refit of this ship in 2012 in Cadiz Spain
My husband Dave and I got married on this ship out of Baltimore MD in 2014. We loved it! Our cruise was in October and went up to Maine and Canada. October cruising up north was a little bit of a rough time at sea but it was still a fun time. ❤
I will be traveling Grandeur in October. Good video
Just found your video, we are going on Lady G in a few weeks and I was already excited, but this made me even more so!
Sailing this ship July 1st- Thanks for posting now I am more excited. 🙂
