The most impressive thing about this zoo is it receives no tax dollars. Most if not all cities fund their zoos with city taxes but Indy's relies on public and private donations.
Wow I didn’t know that. Now knowing that I’m looking at the zoo through new lenses and for being fully privately funded they do a phenomenal job. Never thought it was one of the better zoos as I’ve visited so many but now I think a little different. Thanks
@@TiltedTripodMedia I should've also mentioned the Indianapolis Prize that's awarded biennially to individuals that have given extraordinary contributions to conservation. A $250,000 check is included and puts a spotlight on conservation. It's been called the Nobel Prize for conservation.
@@TiltedTripodMedia I honestly didn't know that either. It's been YEARS since I last visited the Indianapolis Zoo. I just turned 24, on my birthday on November 21st. I do remember the Dolphin Exhibit very well.... also be careful, Dolphins are very easily startled.
What’s wrong with the dolphins? It’s a nice clean spacious exhibit. I’m thrilled to see the species being preserved instead of left out in the wild to die of disease poaching or other things.
@@LMatRC ahhh yeah I can understand that. I’m sure they would be happier with more room but from what I know dolphins are very intelligent and good with humans and I’m thrilled to see that they are breeding them and having successful births at this zoo Conservation always makes me smile. www.indianapoliszoo.com/welcome-our-new-baby-dolphin/
Sorry if something came off rude. I’m not sure what part you were referring to but I’m sure we were just joking with each other. I highly respect my mom aka crazy old lady she named herself that and she knows I value her 😊
aw man, i love the Indianapolis Zoo, i'm usually a member every year, but this year i'm temporally suspending my membership for a year due to the pandemic and me not being able to see all of it, but hopefully next year it'll be ok enough for me to enjoy it again well at least the majority of it
I refuse to let the plandemic stop me from enjoying life as best I can do as long as places are open I will support them and those that force Covid bs on me I just won’t support. So far the zoos have been great to visit.
@@TiltedTripodMedia oh i still love and support my zoo, its just part of it is because my mom and dad won't let me enjoy my favorite places cuz the virus is so bad here, but hopefully soon it'll get back to where i can again like i said its only temporally
A few years ago I visited this zoo with my brother and grandma. A saw a sea lion that kept escaping its exhibit and I remember the annoyed expression of the poor zookeeper that had to keep wrangling it back in. I'm glad I saw it, though.
Nice Video,I live in the Ft. Wayne Market and when my 5 month old grandson gets to be about 3 to 5 years old,I plan on taking him to both the Indianapolis Zoo and the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, which was also a great video of yours.
@@TiltedTripodMedia You should also consider visiting the Ochsner Park Zoo located in Baraboo, Wisconsin. It's actually one of the smallest Zoos I've ever visited. The Zoo has a pair of Wolves, who were bred in captivity.
@@TiltedTripodMedia Why's that? I'm actually from the state of Iowa.... and my family and I once took a vacation in 2016 to both the cities of Boston, Massachusetts and also Washington D.C, (where we stayed four days in both cities) and don't ask me how long the car trip took.......... because there were so many irritating traffic jams along the way because we had to pass through so many toll booths, not to mention get our truck fixed on a Sunday... just to get to Boston. It's a good thing the car trip to Washington D.C and back home to my state was smooth sailing, even thought we had to make a few gas station, food, and restroom stops along the way.
I live in Indy and legitimately enjoyed your video more than going to the zoo.
In fairness, I dont think I've ever gone when it was less than 90°f.
So glad you enjoyed it.
Does not look like many were wearing masks, good for them.
Yeah I couldn’t for medical reasons

🐗We went yesterday it was good but we felt like the Cincinnati zoo is Better; Columbus zoo? Haven't seen it yet 🐅
Is very famous I’ve been there many times. It’s awesome and yes, the Cincinnati zoo is very good.
I rember that I went that Zoo:)
The zoo was so good until you showed the dolphins😢

@@TiltedTripodMedia it’s just dolphins aren’t a species that can thrive they need 50 miles of territory

Interesting experience
I remaber this Zoo :)
It’s a nice zoo but not one of my favorite
That structure with the rusted metal is where the Macaw flights with the live audience occur
That’s very cool I would love to see that
Very informative, thank you so much for the video!
