    These tractors work great for Texas. Im in east Texas and it gets too humid for a tractor that doesnt allow a breeze to come through

      I had that same concern at first, honestly. We also let them range outside the coop during the day and have the tractor running North South so that we align with the wind around here.

    Very interesting video

    In the video you showed the wheels, but do you have anything else providing further details on how to build? Looks like about an 8 inch 2x4 sticking out the back, with a little 2x4 piece maybe 4 inches on top...then a bolt through the top 4 inch piece that allows the bigger 2x4 with wheel attached to spin around? Curious if you could provide details of some kind. I have a 16' x 10' mobile chicken tractor that's pretty heavy and need wheels on...and think your modification looks like the best option. Thanks.

    I love how you put on the wheels. I cannot quite figure out how to do it. I am fixing to make a chicken tractor. If you make a video explaining how to put on the wheels, I will be very grateful.

      OK, we'll try to get something together soon. The MOTH says, "I feel ya...I stared at it at least 30 minutes trying to figure out what to do."

    How many chickens do you have that fit in there?

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  6 місяців тому

      We kept about 25-30 hens in there. 30 was the maximum.

    Do the chickens ever jump the temporary fence when they are outside of the coop? Do you clip the wings?

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  2 роки тому

      We've only had one chicken ever do that, so we clipped her wings once. After that we never had to again.

    Do you keep them in that overnight or lock them up in a coop?

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  4 роки тому +2

      That is their coop and yes, they stay in there overnight. They go back in when it starts to get dark and take their positions on the roosting bars, and then are waiting by the door in the morning for us to let them out to eat.

    How many chooks per tractor are you going for?

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  4 роки тому

      When we made the video we had 12 chicks but knew we could add a few more since we let them free-range during the daytime. Now we're going to house 16 hens and add another roosting bar for extra comfort.

    Do you keep them in here year round?

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  2 роки тому

      We do! When we had the sub zero this year, the only thing we did was cover up the back end with a blanket as a wind stop.

      @@LaVidaBuenaAcres really I thought they would need more protection from the cold..complete inclosure like a coop

    • @LaVidaBuenaAcres
      @LaVidaBuenaAcres  2 роки тому

      We live in Texas so aside from the random apocalyptic cold, they are just fine. We keep the covered sides facing the wind to block it and any rain. Extremely cold nights we put a blanket on one of the open ends where they roost. They've done really well! We are upgrading now as we have more chickens. Stay tuned!
