    I've seen flounder do that before. You stay on the water enough and you'll see things you don't usually expect. Nice slam on that trip!

    Love Matagorda. Solo Skiff will prove most valuable there for getting back into some skinny spots.

      Calvin Click it was very valuable to be in the solo skiff due to how shallow a lot of the areas were. I was actually surprised how much of the area is just very shallow flats.

      There is an area accessible from the beach called 3mile cut, you can put in there and explore some neat water. Bring your off though. Skeeters are thick down there.

    yes!!!!! I have so much film on flounder swimming and chasing bait, a lot us think that they're only fish of ambush, but no I have seen them swimming as it did in your video. great video bud.

    I got on some flounder once in East Bay. Because of an oyster reef, I couldn't let my bait get to the bottom. I was in about 2 feet of water and the flounder were chasing and eating a split tail grub tandem rig. Caught a 24 inch trout in with them. They will chase bait. I caught 2 last week in similar fashion on a swimming shad over grass. Good video. East bay gets deeper the further west you go, but it never gets real deep.

    You need to try lake Austin it’s about half way fro Sargent and mad agora it real shallow with good red on the point and trout in the middle

  • @dashermike3207

    Drove down to Sargent and Bay City yesterday to look around a bit. Just wondering if you put in anywhere near Charlie's Bait Camp when you fished E Matagorda Bay. Plan to fish that area soon but it sure seems like limited access to the bay from the area around the draw bridge or Charlie's Bait camp, especially for a kayak. Just curious. Great footage!

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  4 роки тому +1

      Yah from Charlie’s bait camp there isn’t many places to fish due to being so far up in the housing area. I found a little open lot that I launched my skiff from that puts you a lot closer down to the intercostal which would help a ton if you were in kayak (use google maps!). Also I know you could take the drawbridge over to the beach and you could launch from inside the pass area. Thanks for watching the vids I’m glad you like them!

    Bro! I went to matagorda for the first time this summer and I always catch fish. I choose matagorda over galveston any day. Plus I'm from cypress so it's literally 15 mins more of a drive but worth it.

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  4 роки тому

      Texas Madman yah 15mins further to a place that is less industrial and had less man made changes and more fish is always worth it!!

    I think the flounder intercepted the "ball" meant for the redfish. A flounder creating a wake just donʻt sound very flounderish.

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 років тому

      It doesn't. Thats why I was so surprised when I saw it was a flounder.

  • @Off-The-Dome-Kobe

    Yea I think it was the flounder I’ve seenem jump outa the water to get shad schooling in inches

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 років тому

      Seth Hart I’ve seen them jump straight up out of the water too but have never seen a push.

    How do these fish fish thier oxygen? I would of thought since it's so shallow they wouldn't be active.

    What kinda lure are you using?

  • @gregwest7825
    @gregwest7825 5 років тому +1

    Nice video man looks awesome there. What where you using? You mentioned it had a rattle in it?

    • @KagenFishing
      @KagenFishing  5 років тому

      The jig head im using has a rattle in it. Weedless Hell Raiser. Academy also makes some that rattle but arnt weedless also cheaper. I really do think that having a rattle in your jig head when using soft plastics increases bites by a noticeable difference.
