This album is absolutely stunning, breathtaking, gorgeous, surprising yet consistent… warm… bright… sunny. It’s exactly what I needed to save my sanity at this particular moment in history. 😅

Yes man how can it be 7? Fantano recommends so much dark dystopian shit and listens to this and thinks 7, who is even doing this music at this point and time? I listened to Billie Eilish its so sterile and dark. This music takes your mind away into a blissful place even with some sad lyrics its so complete. If Billie Eilish did this album it would be considered immediately for Album of the Year its so lame.

Never been to big on clairo besides bags, amoeba, and shelly.
But as soon as i heard she was working with leon michels i gave it a shot.
This album is a straight 10 for me.
It took me a while to warm up to sexy to someone but after a few playthroughs it grew on me.
Every track is great but i think slow dance, glory of the snow, thank you, juna, add up my love are the stand outs.

i agree with you. most of the time, the production completely overtakes her vocals to the point where you can barely hear the lyrics and her voice almost sounds monotonous which is unfortunate because she's a good singer and i always thought of her voice as an asset - it's quite recognisable. overall, it's a very chill and groovy record, and you could track her growth as an artist which is nice, but it's not a 10 out of 10 to me because i prefer songs that have a more distinctive pattern to them (maybe that's why, at least for now, sexy to someone stuck with me the most).
I do get that, I heard Juna on Tonight Show, she needs more energy on her vocals if she wants to stand out.

Her dad was the chief marketing officer at Converse and actually helped open recording studios under Converse's record label, Rubber Tracks. he also has connections to the founder of Fader Magazine, who owns the cornerstone marketing/advertising agency (related to rubber tracks) which is why one of her first ever interviews is with Fader Magazine.

7 is a pretty good fantano grade. He clearly hasn’t danced to Juna yet though
I find her music hard to listen to consecutively, her voice although beautiful can be quite monotonous as she doesn't show much range. Listening to the album, it feels like it all blends together before the instrumentals become quite different when it hits about track 7. Honestly, the insane instrumentals saved this album for me - they're beautifully put together but its hard to know how much of that is her. I like a lot of the tracks even though I couldn't listen to them one after the other :)

Fantano try explaining an album without saying ornate challenge impossible edition
beautiful review, nice delve into the sensitive lyrics. I think the whisper vocals befit the very subtle jazzy flourishes in the songs. One can't really overpower the other, for me.
I don't know that it's much better than a 7, but I do think the novelty of it being effectively a '70s soft pop rock record released in the middle of the summer of '24 is really gutsy. It's really pretty and kinda silly, conceptually. It's not very vital or necessary, but I'm glad it exists. It'll get a lot of listens from me, simply because it's not much like anything else out right now, not because it's unbelievably great or something.

If this album was called "To Charm a Butterfly" you would have given it a 10 smh
To me Terrapin felt like my fav song of the album. The main melody I guess is just so unpredicatble some times and the piano-ish sound that follows it makes it so melancholic. Then you have this weird change that needs to resolve so bad and goes back to the main melody. Feels like home. Then there is the section with the improv of the piano which feels so tense to me and then that part where I felt like I was in an mf doom herbs mixtape. It is just so nice
great post, you see people doing some amazing things making Clairo rap beats especially off Terrapin, I think we might see a huge rapper sample one of the songs off Charm in the future!

I think this is an unpopular opinion based on the comments but I think this is the BEST album she’s ever made. Her vocals are so GOREGOUS, the production is so smooth. It also feels the most polished and most narratively appealing, talking about just wanting to feel all different kinds of love. I love this album so much I think it’s one of the best things released this year.
It is a great album! The thing is most people outside Clairo's bubble don't really listen to her, so maybe they don't appreciate it enough..? I don't know, that's what I feel. For me it's the best album of the year so far, it's beautiful.

Over time, Terrapin will prove to be one of the most influential tracks, it's already become a community favorite for being a sample haven. Clairo X Griselda is a match made in heaven.
Es un tremendo disco. La dupla Clairo/León es perfecta: La dulce y airosa voz de Clairo con el groove y la instrumentalización que utiliza Leon son completamente compatibles, un gran match! Leon Michels ya había querido probar una voz con características similares con Shannon Wise de The Shacks en la canción Enfant del álbum Adult themes. En gran parte se trata de rescatar la esencia de los 70's con voces femeninas.
Sling también es un gran disco, no porque sea un disco de baja energía es malo verdad? Lo que creo es que Clairo, junto a los productores con los que ha trabajado en estos dos últimos álbumes, no se molestan en no complacer a la gran industria y hacen un trabajo mas bien honesto y sensitivo. Sabemos que para Sling Clairo no estaba pasando un buen momento y es perfectaente lo que transmite el álbum. En esta segunda parte, por el contrario, se nota, hasta con risas (Second nature) que Clairo está mucho mejor que su etapa anterior.
En fin, soy muy crítico a la hora de escuchar un álbum, pero este nada que decir: 10/10
