Yes, I watched the first video and it was VERY helpful. I will go back and watch the second video from September. I live in Florida and have a Meyer Lemon. Thank you so much.
My lemon tree was literally about to split in half due to how heavy it was. My husband and I had no idea how to prune it without killing it. We followed your video and it saved our tree. We actually had a great time pruning it up. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge!
There must not be many fruits on the tree, they must be woken up. Shorten the long branches to the sides by at least 1/3 -1/2 and keep the same shortening length around the entire perimeter. Unfortunately, without a video, few people will understand. The inner branches, crossing the branches, must be cut out. It is cut at an angle of 45 degrees to the inner "eyelet". This is the same as with most fruit trees apple, pear, etc. as well as citrus.
We have names when the crown of a tree is cut into a "kettle" or a "spindle". I don't know how to say it technically. Kettle is 3-4 main skeletal branches and nothing inside. Spindle is 3-4 skeletal branches and inside is the main terminal on which the second floor of the tree crown is formed
Yes, I found the video now. Better way is to change the soil than to keep constantly iron tone. And yes, the cut above the sleeping plant "eye" I don't speak English, so I don't know the exact technical name is the ability to create a branch. If the plant still grows for at least half a year, another crown-shaped cut would be suitable! If this variety does not bloom all year round, only leafy branches will grow this year.
hello from tropical Cairns in Australia. Thanks for sharing, finally I understand how to prune my lemon tree. Good to see honey birds in your garden, we have a lot of them, similar with yellow chest.
Leaf miner problem can be easily solved with use of bayer confider insecticide, 1ml per litre dilution. Using insecticide on recommended quantity is the scientific methodology to control leaf miner attack
Thank you so much for this video! I just moved into a house with an orange, lemon, and lime tree that have all been sorely neglected, and I had no idea what I was doing! Will these techniques work on the orange and lime as well? Also, I live in zone 8b (north FL). Does Ted think it's too late to prune now? The trees are growing fruit but they are still all green. I'm wondering if I should wait next yea
Totally works on any fruit tree!! Did you see the other fruit tree videos with Ted? Check out my fruit tree playlist! He talks about pruning in the first one. You can prune anytime …. Its just you could run into issues like i did with pests or you might loose some harvest. But the tree can handle it! Up to you!
Yeah! More videos on fruit trees would be excellent - maybe a few growing tips if you have a scientist at hand! I'm in Santa Rosa so handy to have someone in a similar zone. By the way, if you want to make $ off your amazon links sign up for their affiliate program - potentially well worth it as your channel grows.
Thanks for your feedback! So great to hear from you! Working with my FIL the scientist…he’s less excited about being in front of the camera then I am. 😂 Thanks for the top tips about amazon! 🙌🏼🙌🏼 Super helpful!!
I am not sure if there is a limit to scoring. But my rec would be make sure your future branches can all be supported and won’t crowd each-other. I also would think that tons of wounds to the tree isn’t good for it! My thought is to use your common sense and you’ll know what to do!💪🏼🌸
Yesss! Totally. I find it best when I use it preventatively so I don’t get the problem in the first place! Just have to stay on top of with regular sprays. 💪🏼🌸
@@PowertotheFlower Thanks Cara for the reply. I just planted my first ever lemon tree and your pruning tips are really helpful. Quick question does this method of heading and thinning also apply to orange trees?
Thank you for these videos, they are the only good citrus pruning videos I can find 😊
Quite impressive
I LOVE how you let us enjoy the hummingbird moment with you! 🤗🌺💙 Thanks!!!

This is the BEST video I have seen for pruning lemons! Thank you for getting to the point and DOING it instead of talking about it.
Loved the hummingbirds. Great content. Thanks
Thank you for the feedback! Glad you liked the hummingbird!! They sometimes dive bomb me in the garden! I love them. And am a little scared!! 🐦😂
Wow love humming birds

Hi there how manybtimes can I score a tree like you did

Also! Just posted a more detailed how-to video on scoring!
@@PowertotheFlower Good! I need to do this on the trunk of my tree which is too bare to high up.
Can you use Neem oil preventatively?
