I bought the Thinkdiag, and Thinkcar OBD11 reader with software a while back. I finally had a check engine light and neither of these could reset the fault code. Both are expensive and difficult to use. The $8 ebay unit solved the problem. Save your money.. Their customer service is zero also.

i think this is a tool that you pay as you go type of deal. it looks like it does have some functions like the bigger scan tools do but it would cost alot in the run long to use on a everyday basis on different automobiles. the 8 dollar dongo is just a code reader and doesnt have bi directional control. There is a learning curve to most the big scanners so i would assume it is a little difficult to use if the menus on this are similar to a full pledge scanner. i am a ase certified tech and have three different scanners it took me awhile to figure my way through the menus to get them to do what i need to do to diagnose these vehicles. Point being there no perfect scanner for all vehicles.. Nothing beats the factory scan tool for that manufacturer of vehicle.
@@davidturczak7253 I paid for everything that they said I needed. The unit & I have both of them will read the car, but you have no ability to cancel codes or anything else. Contacted support and zippo. Go ahead and waste your money. You have been told. I have a $8 dongle and a $4 app and it does everything that I need.

So I sometimes work on friends cars, and I own 3 BMWs, my question is if I want full access to my bmws do I have to buy the subscription 3 times for each bmw or i can buy it once and it will work for all the bmws?

Well software I had is fully paid with all cars and function available in it sent for complete test they offer many features and you can only buy the ones you need for you car way chew aper than others in market

just curious have you ever repaired anything in your car yourself? In most cases you have a service agreement especially with such precious stuff as BMW. so is it worth 120 bucks for just resetting oil change interval?
i have done more with this device, have you changed breaks on BMD 520D 2016, you will get to know the importance of device like this once you do
When you are using the think diag to diagnose any fault, the engine should be on or just the ignition on? Thanks
some fault can be found with only ignition ON and some with engine it all depend, usually app tell you all about it.

That I have not tried, but won't that be illegal
@@nareshkeswani80 no..if you are replacing the ecm with a used one..the used replacement needs to be reprogrammed with the new vin of the car you are putting it into. I believe you also have to do this for the keys also.

no point of having tool like this when you cant code and program module after replacement.What i the point of knowwing the fault if you cant fix it , especially on bmw cars , after module fails you need to code another one and program it to the car.
well i think you can reprogram, and also do many service jobs on Cars, like changing breaks if you have e-breaks you will understand what i am talking about i have done on mine and it provided me with step -by-step guide
@@nareshkeswani80 you cant i am servicing bmw cars, if for example airbag module goes bad, you need to code module to match chasis number and you need ista p to program module to car.

If you need to purchase subscription for one marqur for each service item like oil reset - 40 dollars, srs reset - 40 dollars, abs bleeding - 40 dollars; its way too expensive - then its better to buy a pro tool for 1000 to 2000 dollars and be done with it.
If you work on many cars,Pro tool is good.
If you only DIY fix one or two cars,Thinkdiag is not bad with all system scan + bidirectional test+ ECU coding
