As a military brat who has had a family member in the military from the civil war through 2010 I want to say thank you! I begged my husband to join the military but his calling was police officer in Alabama - I love all our military and our first responders - and what you guys are doing is AWESOME.
We do the cobbler in our Dutch oven as well. We mix the cake mix with apple juice and water to make a batter that we pour over the fruit. Makes the top moist verses a crumb topping. Either way, a great dessert. Happy camping.
I think it is so great how dedicated you both our on raising money for the veterans! Thank you so very much and Thank you to all the military men and women! May God bless you all. May God bless you 🙏 Heavenly Father, thank you that you defend your people with your mighty hand. Please hear my prayer as I lift up our military and veterans before you now. They work tirelessly to defend our country. Bless and protect them Lord and use their work for the good of our nation and your glory. Amen
Thanks for the info about Peregrine Pines. Awesome place! People in the office were gearing up for the RV season and very accommodating. Lot 29 rocks. Gonna hit a COE campground on the way home. Harvest hosted for the first time. This has been our first full stretch of our RV legs and it has revealed many things that our first year of "shake downs" couldn't. Love watching y'all. Much respect!
We've been to Lake Lure! We stayed at a resort there. Loved it there and we did the boat tour as well. Saw the house Patrick Swayze stayed in while filming and the steps Jennifer Grey danced on. I did cast iron cooking all the time with my girl scout troop growing up and now do it with my daughter's Girl Scout troop and when we go family camping. My son's cub scout pack hasn't done a lot of camping yet.
Hello again from Ontario Canada! I enjoy watching your videos and all your tips. As a air force veteran, I am amazed 👏 with your fundraising for veterans. Keep your chin up and be proud of your accomplishments!
Above anything we do with the channel, our Veteran charity donations are what we are really proud of. We will continue to beat the drum for them!!! Thanks for your service as well!!!
Love the river and rocks in your opening shot! I'm a Pisces, and drawn to water. As a child, when we'd go camping, my specialty was "accidentally on purpose" falling into streams...LOL When we had our boat, the A/C would only operate when we were hooked to shore power. The engines/batteries weren't enough on their own. Then, we got the bright idea of strapping our portable generator onto the bow, and using that as "shore power." Well, theoretically, it should have worked; the generator rating was sufficient for the normal draw of the A/C unit; however, it couldn't handle the start-up load. So, phooey! ;-) Back when my kids were young, I was a Girl Scout troop leader, and we tried cooking in a cast iron dutch oven. Yuck! Never, ever again! I detest cast iron. Depsite following all the 'seasoning' instructions, the food came out with a truly nasty metallic flavor and was inedible! :-( At home, I had equally bad experiences, again despite the "seasoning" procedures, every single food item STUCK to the pan, and was a huge mess to clean up...there was no way to clean it without the "forbidden" soaking and thorough scrubbing. :-( My camp cooking is done on my Coleman propane stove with "proper" non-stick pots and pans! ;-D
You need an “I was 4F” tee shirt!!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤓 I suggested the Homes For our Troops as a charity for another UA-camr who was looking for some way to support the troops…
Sound track is awesome as always! Great video!! Master Chiefs are set in their ways! I had an adjoining supervisor who was a senior master Chief (E9) in the reserves. He was awesome!! But his wife was even more awesome!!
Phil and Stacy, thanks for doing the military fundraising events... I love the last shirt I bought, so much, I've nearly worn it out (that's what my wife keeps telling me😁)... So, I just had to order more; but this time, I got the hat and a shirt for her as well. Thanks again Tim
Great episode, as always. We have gone hiking and tent camping there regularly for years ❤️🏕️ I love your channel. Keep up the great work 😉
Hi.... you both have learned a lot since having your car towed on the little 2 wheeled trailer.... but please know your generator likes to be used. I'm the 82 yo guy with 137,000 miles on my Class A. We have a combo washer/drier... and run our generator "most of the time" while driving..... it is a relatively cheap thing to do... and we can do our laundry as we drive.... We could easily add solar... but we don't need to have solar. That's why we have the genny. Compare the maintenance / cost / replacement cost of all you have added.... and I think my genny running is more cost effective.... just my opinion... and yes we boondock.... like at the Marshalling Yard of McCormick Place in Chicago... only $35/night. Could list more places like casinos, Wal-Mart. etc
Good video. We use the same recipe for the dump cake except we use the crock-pot. It turns out amazing every time! If you want the recipe just let us know. Lynn and Danny
Question: what do u mean when u say u ‘dial down your coach to plug into friend’s house? I will soon have a 50 amp trailer and wondering how to keep my travel trailer’s batteries charged to my house until I go full time once house is sold. Perfect timing for your video cause I’ve been fussing about this problem since I ordered my Lance about a month ago (waiting for it to b completed). As always, thank you for your instructional videos. Helps me organize myself for this next season of my life, being a senior, female solo nomad
Another wonderful video. Love watching your travels. FYI while some of Dirty Dancing was filmed at Lake Lure the setting for the resort was Mountain Lake Lodge in Pembroke, Virginia just north of Blacksburg, Va. it is a beautiful place to visit but would not work for your rig. Keep up the great work.
Phil, we have done the dump cake in a crock pot same steps except 2 hours on high. That's to help you until you can pick up a cast iron pot. I wouldn't want you to have to do without your desserts. ;)
Tell your friend that made the dutch oven dessert, they make Parchment paper liners for dutch ovens, they are great to use, we love to cook with our dutch ovens
@@todayissomeday we're actually in initial efforts towards going full-time in a few years. We've been weekenders for 20 years. Really enjoying your channel! P.S... which TPMS did you end up with? TST 507 seems good.
Just some info for all watching. Today's generators are designed to run for thousands of hours so if you can afford the fuel, which they really don't use much, use them and enjoy having all the power you need or want. When it comes to the larger generators this is especially true. There are generators today that are rated for 10k plus hours and beyond and they do it. Just remember to keep up on your servicing, use good fuel which in a Class A is the same diesel your coach engine is running off of in most cases if your generator is a QD which stands for Quite Diesel. Another fun video and I wouldn't call the laundry a mistake really, just an oversight that's easily remedied by firing up the gen. Maybe consider a larger battery bank in the future so you can run pretty much all you want including ACs off of it. It would be expensive but would pay for itself over time and convenience...
I bought a 4 yr old class A last year. washer was broke. finally got a new one put in. tested it out with a partial load of clothes last week while hooked up to my storage bay. it has only 20 amp power. I cant run two small portable heaters in the winter but was able to run a load of clothes and after that was done I ran the dryer to see if it would work. breaker didnt pop altho I fully expected it too. That breaker will pop for no known reason at random times. lost a container of potato salad two weeks ago. not sure how long the breaker had been popped and I didnt have the inverter turned on so the fridge was dark and 80 degrees when I showed up to check on things.
Glad things worked like they should. I would empty the fridge if not in use....just for that reason. If the breaker pops and fridge shuts off....you lose everything.
Yo Phil, I have been down the AC on the batteries road. Its not just wiring per Red Bay. It is a 3000 watt inverter and a second AC panel installed. Oh yeah the cost is about 4,000.00 plus 6 to 8 lithium batteries and 1 soft start for the fwd AC. Total cost for solar, inverter, batteries, wiring and a soft start is 15k to 20k. That is for 4 to 6 hrs of AC, that will buy a lot of diesel. AC on batteries just not worth the money.
Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. And thank you for your service to our country. Lake Lure is where part of Dirty Dancing was filmed. The rest was filmed at Mountain Lake Lodge in Virginia. The "Lift" dance practice scenes we're actually filmed there. They have a marker at the spot.
That's what I thought. I was like hold on there!!! I've been to the lake where dirty dancing was filmed. I did not realize different scenes were filmed at different lakes. Mountain lodge dried up didn't it?
@@captainkirk8806 , it didn't really dry up, they think it goes through cycles where it fills up and then mostly drains, due to leaks in the bottom that naturally seal themselves and then wash away again. I was up there two years ago and it had filled up a lot from our previous visit a couple of years before that. I'm not sure how full it is today. COVID slowed our travels last year.
They only filmed the leap in the water scene, the stair scene, and scenes in the employee cabins at Lake Lure. The cabins were actually a boys camp that burned down a few years ago. Everything else was elsewhere.
Growing up in So. Utah, we had property on Kolob mtn. next to Zion Canyon. We camped there every weekend during the summer. My Dad would make dump cake on Saturday night along with dutch oven bbq chicken and dutch oven potatoes. Years later, the same recipe was used while camping with our kids, at scout camps and just recently we made it for Sunday dessert. You can make it in the oven, just not as fun as in a dutch oven.

My wife dragged me to the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, NC. So glad that she did. It was a wonderful day. I was expecting it to be a Victorian home, like you see in many towns. Or a small mansion, it's stable/carriage house is nicer than most mansions in this country. It is not those things. It is comparable to a European castle. Phil you messed up by not going, you have cheated yourself in seeing one the great wonders of the world. It had a billiards room, a bowling alley, an indoor pool, a central heating system, accommodations for their servants in the house...... Phil listen to your wife, wives are smarter than we are, they do their research.
I agree he totally missed out. But if you want to know the "BEHIND THE SCENES" version...His knee has really been acting up. He was worried about all the walking. Thankfully Jenny filled in for him.
Biltmore is a must see if just for the engineering and technical marvel the building is for being built in the South 30 years after the Civil War! And they have a terrific winery, too!
I really appreciate that you guys are honest enough to admit you still make mistakes even after being on the road that long. It gives me hope as we head out
The Builtmore Mansion is AWESOME! It's been a few decades since I was in it but I'm thinking it hasn't changed much. Now for the really good part for me, I got my rig home yesterday. That desert looked yummy! I have to get one of those lids where I can put coals on top, my dutch oven has a rounded top. Keep the good stuff coming guys
The master chief guiding the LCDR... no change from active duty. With the O4s, ya have to wait until they are out of the room before executing an eye roll. Lol.
How about creating a mug/t-shirt with just "I served" for those of us who served in more than one branch of the military. Don't make me choose which I am more proud of.
Canned Pineapple with Cherry Pie Filling was how my Mom made it... glad you shared this! (Dump-it cake can be done in the oven or the crock pot if you want)
We would love to because our SIL is a seabee but if we add one specific job everyone will want to add theirs as well. Thanks so much for asking though.
btw, I joined the Elks as they help veterans. Elks have many Lodges... often they have RV boondocking or even hookups, cheap. And immediate friends, good food, and likely lots of new subscribers for you. Just an idea.
Great video and friends. Fabulous desert. I remember having that with our Boy Scout troop. As a side note, whenever you see your prior teachers, whether it be a week or years later, you always want to impress them by showing them that you are practicing the things they taught you. Well, we pulled out at our Boondockers Welcome a few of weeks ago, Phil flagged us down to let us know that our antenna was still up and mentioned a way as to not forget it moving forward. Although slightly embarrassed, I realize the fact that I will always need the help of my teachers. Thank you Phil & Stacy.
Tried to order a vet tshirt and never got it don’t normally shop online but thought I would try so have no idea what happened . Who do I reach out to for follow up or maybe reorder
@@wyokat1335 lol, yes that’s right! Words do matter! We could throw “u” on the end & every second month put “y” after the “a” to complete the vowel thing & really mess with people!
There are added marks for finding ice cream. Biltmore is back on our todo list. It's a wonderful stop. Dutch Oven cooking is assigned to the Montana branch of the family, so we have to cover the Glamping. It's a real challenge, but we do our best. Travel Safe.
Cool video, like the apple cake/pie. Wife ordered a couple of shirts, we support our military. If your ever in south central Missouri and need a place to park, let us know, we have a spot bigger than you would need 😁

I don't want to bust Phil's bubble but those canned apples have nothing to do with fruit!! I would love to cook with cast iron but the weight is prohibitive. So we ended up with the Ninja Foodie (pressure cooker/air fryer) and that weighs a ton. Loved the lake. We will be visiting that area in late June early July.

@@todayissomeday hope his knee is better soon. You can always go back another day in the future.
Biltmore is a must see if just for the engineering and technical marvel the building is for being built in the South 30 years after the Civil War!
And they have a terrific winery, too!
💯🚐 Great video, thanks for the great information. Appreciate your videos very much 🏕
Thanks for watching!
I have to try that apple cake
It was amazing!
I really appreciate that you guys are honest enough to admit you still make mistakes even after being on the road that long. It gives me hope as we head out
We make them all the time!!
How do u “dial back your power draw”?
The Builtmore Mansion is AWESOME! It's been a few decades since I was in it but I'm thinking it hasn't changed much. Now for the really good part for me, I got my rig home yesterday. That desert looked yummy! I have to get one of those lids where I can put coals on top, my dutch oven has a rounded top. Keep the good stuff coming guys
Glad you were able to bring your rig home!
Holy Cow! Phil is a Super Model!!!
Lou & Angie
Ok now dont go giving him the big head! 😂
Thanks for bringing such great videos and information to our homes each week! It really helps us get through these very crazy times!
You are so welcome!
As a veteran, I want to thank you for all that you guys do to raise money for other veterans. You guys are such wonderful people.
Love it, if you’ve got it use it.
Ohana Expeditions? Do I hear a little Hawaiian influence?
Thank you so much for having the filler music volume just right and not to loud. You did good thanks
Thanks. I do try....sometimes I miss the mark but I think most of the time it doesnt kill the ear drums
The master chief guiding the LCDR... no change from active duty. With the O4s, ya have to wait until they are out of the room before executing an eye roll. Lol.
Right!
How about creating a mug/t-shirt with just "I served" for those of us who served in more than one branch of the military. Don't make me choose which I am more proud of.
We met a guy who retired from both the Army and Navy.
Canned Pineapple with Cherry Pie Filling was how my Mom made it... glad you shared this! (Dump-it cake can be done in the oven or the crock pot if you want)
Another great dump cake is chocolate cake( usually Black Forest) & cherries, yum! Girl Scouts cook too😊
That sounds delicous!
Can you make a Seabee Military Shirt or mug?
We would love to because our SIL is a seabee but if we add one specific job everyone will want to add theirs as well. Thanks so much for asking though.
btw, I joined the Elks as they help veterans. Elks have many Lodges... often they have RV boondocking or even hookups, cheap. And immediate friends, good food, and likely lots of new subscribers for you. Just an idea.
Are you still in NC? We live right in the middle of the state close to High Point. Would love to meet you!
No we were already gone
Not perfect but always improving and alway learning
Great video and friends. Fabulous desert. I remember having that with our Boy Scout troop. As a side note, whenever you see your prior teachers, whether it be a week or years later, you always want to impress them by showing them that you are practicing the things they taught you. Well, we pulled out at our Boondockers Welcome a few of weeks ago, Phil flagged us down to let us know that our antenna was still up and mentioned a way as to not forget it moving forward. Although slightly embarrassed, I realize the fact that I will always need the help of my teachers. Thank you Phil & Stacy.
You are so sweet! And for the record we still need the help of our teachers too! Blessings friends!
Actually your really close to Peach and Pecan country
I ordered my hat today!
Yay
As long as you’ve been full timing most wouldn’t consider you doing “newbie” mistakes!!!!!
Tried to order a vet tshirt and never got it don’t normally shop online but thought I would try so have no idea what happened . Who do I reach out to for follow up or maybe reorder
Sorry to hear that, Try this: info@skidoh.com
Just reordered
Recently moved from Aiea Hawaii. Fun fact “Aiea” is the only town in America spelled with all vowels
It's also home to some of our favorite little lunch spots.
It’s missing “u” and sometimes “y”?
@@Elizabeth-rq1vi Thank you
@@Elizabeth-rq1vi , It's spelled with all vowels, not all the vowels.
@@wyokat1335 lol, yes that’s right! Words do matter! We could throw “u” on the end & every second month put “y” after the “a” to complete the vowel thing & really mess with people!
Great video
Thanks!
Really appreciate you guys! Just ordered my hat and t-shirt so excited to get them! 😊 Love your channel.
Awesome! Thank you!
You guys are on vacation everyday!😂
Stacy kinda looks like Jennifer Anniston
Yes she does! LOL
There are added marks for finding ice cream. Biltmore is back on our todo list. It's a wonderful stop. Dutch Oven cooking is assigned to the Montana branch of the family, so we have to cover the Glamping. It's a real challenge, but we do our best. Travel Safe.
Lucky for you!! 😂
Thanks the content! We may be moving to NC soon! Looking for to experiencing the beautiful state!
Shout out for Cub Scouts!!! Twenty-three years volunteering in Cub Scout program. Thank you for your service!! Excellent dump cake skills!
I forgot to tell you that you can make that same desert dish in your instant pot.
Awesome!
Cool video, like the apple cake/pie. Wife ordered a couple of shirts, we support our military. If your ever in south central Missouri and need a place to park, let us know, we have a spot bigger than you would need 😁
Thanks so much!
Lake Lure is great. We live at Lake Norman just north of Charlotte, NC.
You were hour or so away from us. Hope your having a good time. We love NC we have the mountains and the beach close by. We are headed to VA Beach going to Seamist military campground for two weeks in May can't wait.
05:10 Make a sticky note and put it in a conspicuous place to remind you of what's not available when boondocking... Welcome to getting older
My channel did get restored thank you for responding to my email its all fixed after they said no hope of it coming back
I am so glad!!!
Great video and thanks for everything you do for our vets. Continued safe travels and hopefully our paths cross someday.
So is this a lottery type of give away?
I don't want to bust Phil's bubble but those canned apples have nothing to do with fruit!!
I would love to cook with cast iron but the weight is prohibitive. So we ended up with the Ninja Foodie (pressure cooker/air fryer) and that weighs a ton.
Loved the lake. We will be visiting that area in late June early July.
