    All of them sound great, but the Hummingbird does it for me.

      End up getting one? Im split between the 🕊 Dove and the Hummingbird. No shop near me has both in stock, so its tough to compare. Theyre both good though

    I've always wondered why Gibson acoustic guitars were so expensive. Now I know why. 🎸

    This is a great clip. I like how you played each guitar in short clips back to back so you could easily hear the difference.

    9:47. Dudester. I played Brass In Pocket in a very popular band named Pay Per Dollz in L.A. area in the 90's. Top tier band, baby. Really.
    I just got waterworks like Niagra Falls. Thanks for the priceless memories of better days. I can't complain as I've had an awesome run and good times will surely return. Thanks for your work and Happy New Year 2022. Cheers! mtw in L.A.

    Nice run through Jack!! Thank you. I have a 2018 Gibson J15 and I love the sound of Walnut. They all have their own tonal qualities based on the shape and wood combinations. I will say soundwise the J200 maple is my favorite, I got the pleasure to play one in a 4hr set(45 to 50 min with a 10 min break each hour), standing up with that jumbo is hard on the back after a while. Sitting down and playing it is very comfortable for extended period of time.

    Crazy how similar the tone of the J45 and L-00 sound. I prefer the Hummingbird and Jumbo personally.

    Great video. Love the SJ 200! In my opinion, Gibson should release a few more 12 string models in their modern line up. Any chance of doing GUILD guitars in the near future? Cheers.

    I know a guy with a J200, and any time I go to his place, all I want to do is play that guitar. His wife bought it for him. He said he’d never have paid that much money for a guitar in his life, but he’s sure glad his wife did. I genuinely get sad every time I have to hand it back to him to put back on the wall. Just a gorgeous sounding guitar, and this video doesn’t do it justice, even though this lad’s playing is wonderful.

    Nice video. One remark: it's only with the Songwriter that you mention the neck wood (mahogany). I think the other ones also have mahogany necks, except for the SJ-200, which has a maple neck. Also a big factor for tone. The often mentioned Dove has, like the SJ-200, maple back and sides, but a mahogany neck, as far as I know…

    Spruce and maple is not just on a J-200. The Dove is one of my favorites. Dave Grohl plays his black Elvis Presley version quite often.

      Deeper body than the Hummingbird. Priced at about 5 thousand dollars (2023). Doves are Gibsons flagship standard series square shouldered dreadnought guitars. Have yet to encounter one in person

    Within the last year I traded Up. I traded in all my Martin guitars for a Parlor Rosewood & a J45, and I could not be more pleased. They are sonically equivalent all across the spectrum. Martin’s are great, but they just didn’t sound like the 1960’s to me. I grew up in the ‘60’s and I love playing folk music from the ‘60’s. Martin’s tend to be more Bass focused. If you play in public places, you’ll want a Gibson for its bit more crispness. Martin’s tend to get lost in the mix of people conversing - because the human voice is in the midrange spectrum - Gibson’s tend to outdo the human voice, and you’ll cut through the crowd. It may not come off that way in a video, but believe me - they’re warm and crisp and loud all at the same time.

      i recently traded up a 2000's j-45, a '52 LG2 3/4, and a '50 ES-125 for a '59 j-45. Hurt a little, i loved the two acoustics, but this '59 j-45 practically plays itself, which is good for me, lol. (a 1959 real year j-45, i guess they have a 1959 repro model now too)

    Isn't it strange how NOBODY respects Fender acoustic guitars?

    • @davidburke2132
      @davidburke2132 3 роки тому +2

      Because they never really seriously committed to making proper premium ones. 🤷🏼‍♂️ Remember that whilst we now look on them as one of the true heritage guitar brands when they began they were the upstart... doing everything differently, more simply, more cheaply and going for a functional aesthetic. This doesn’t really match with the ethos of acoustic guitar making, which is really hugely about tradition and craftsmanship, so I don’t think Fender ever committed to the mentality and approach needed to truly break the acoustic segment.

    • @iannicholls7476
      @iannicholls7476 3 роки тому +2

      Very true. Also Fender have never yet made a “must try” acoustic- I.e. in the way that Strats and Teles are must try electrics.

    • @andrewstendahl36

      And here I am at this moment watching UA-cam-comparing the thicker necked electric acoustic mahogany back and sides of the J 35 to a similar wood guitar, the J 50 with same back and sides, a non electric acoustic J 50...while considering the J 29s Rosewood back and sides. Contemplating from home which sounds and plays the best. No Fender acoustic guitar comes to mind, somehow Fender does not make either a prudent investment or playable acoustic guitar

    With that 12er ring you spent half the time tuning and the rest playing out of tune.
