How quiet are cruise boat cabins for sleeping?
My Norwegian Cruise around Dec 20, 2023 was very quiet except for one night with high seas / waves. The big ocean waves had things moving back and forth upstairs above my cabin and I could hear the clicking or quiet banging as the items leaned left then right, moving with the waves.
The cruise ship was huge - about 6 to 8 thousand people on board. The bigger the boat, the more stable the ship moves through the ocean, almost regardless of waves. Bigger boats also have more offerings: more restaurants, stores, attractions, pools, games, etc.
In this video, I was able to record the noisiest, night time part of my two-week cruise going from Miami, south through the Caribbean to the Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, San Martin, and many other Caribbean islands. It was almost always perfectly quiet in our cabin with a porthole view of the ocean. Listen closely and you can hear the quiet noises that I highlight with my finger movements. My wife and son slept through and never heard anything. I only heard the sounds because I woke up to go the bathroom and make a phone call.

I highly recommend cruising for vacations! They're awesome ways to see many new places. There's a new city and often a new country every morning. You don't have to keep packing and unpacking. Simply move your bags once, then relax and enjoy the ride. One of the best parts of a cruise is the food! All food is included in the ticket price and you can eat as much as you want! It's delicious!
Of course, touring the world, seeing new places, and cultures is awesome!
How quiet are cruise boat cabins for sleeping? My Norwegian Cruise was very quiet except for one night when there were big waves and something quietly making sounds outside my cabin. It turned out to be sounds of items moving back and forth in an office above my cabin. Staff helped store things to make everything even quieter.
