Yes there are
The easy one to fix with a manual machine is the zippers we normally fix on shirt and blouse dresses
But the zipper you use depends on the type of dress you’re making

Try ironing the zipper tape (gentle heat) like Jann Newton’s invisible zipper tutorial . In all fairness, zippers take practice.
