This is the definition of jumping the shark. Way too derivative to be considered original work. And tone deaf to boot. Is it appropriate to have a SLAVE character say that JS suffered more persecution than any other man? Really? More than a SLAVE?
Can’t help but notice you turned off comments on the music video..... if you are willing to put it out there you should be able to take the critique.

Redge, is it right for you to presume what a slave would have thought about Joseph Smith? JS was quite friendly to slaves and advocated to end slavery in his 1844 presidential campaign. In fact, the Missourians were so afraid of Joseph, that he would lead the slaves against him, that they used armed mobs to remove the Church from Missouri. There were freed slaves among the Church members who knew of what JS went through. What would they have said? Find out from them instead of just being presumptive.

This was... intriguing. Part of me wants to cringe because of all the white people doing "black people stuff" and looking a little awkward doing it. But I love that it shamelessly embraces AAVE (African American Vernacular English) as an important medium of expression regardless of ancestral descent, and not just for trying to be more "gangster". It's extremely common in the US to assign a moral or intellectual value to different dialects or accents (you may find that a black man who does not speak AAVE tires of being complimented as "well-spoken"), and this is often confirmed in the media that we consume. Alex Boye's works are always incredibly positive, and this one is no different!

Agreed. I love this. I love Alex Boyes work as well.
But something awkward about white American pioneers doing this. It is cognitively dssonant.
The guy playing JS has an amazing voice!

Why should dances and “stuff” be exclusive to any one race? If there is “stuff” that originates from a race/culture and another race/culture celebrates it or enjoys it, then we should be honored and grateful that it is loved, shared and carried on. Love one another, despite our differences. 💕

Anyone knows who Joseph Smith is you know that he had many young girls as wife’s anyone under the age of 18 is young if I’m not mistaken his youngest wife for six that’s not a man I wanna follow and affects the gospel it’s been given must be false teaching because I cannot believe in a God allows a man to have a wife at the age of six but then again I know in the Old Testament there was a King that was six years old when he became I don’t think he had a wife until he was at least 15 or 16

Since I think that Joseph Smith was a con man, I'll pass on this one.

Hear hear! I don’t know what possessed (probably a bag of money from Salt Lake City) him to do record this knock off, wanna be Hamilton. The next time he wants to sing about con men, he should stick with doing the Music Man. At least that story has a happy ending where the con artist repents for leading astray, pandering and seducing the public.

We are all entitled to our own opinion. I have studied the life of Joseph Smith in-depth. I say he was no con man, but a Prophet of God. We can agree to disagree.

I don’t understand the need folks have to come onto UA-cam videos and spew hate. If you don’t believe, that’s okay. I have never felt the need to go to a baptist, methodist, catholic, muslim, buddhist, or any other social media site and criticize (much spew lies about) their beliefs.
