Love your reviews guys! Best on YT in my opinion. Coming back from 2 knee reco’s on the same knee and having raced when younger but needing a lighter, more fun ski now as a mid 40 year old carver - you guys are making my buying decision ever so much easier. Thanks again.
I tried these skis out in BC this past winter, great review! I love how these guys put it...never felt "catchy" in soft snow... absolutely right easy turn initiation in all conditions.
Looking for a new all mountain ski. 5’10 192 lbs and just came off the ‘20 Kore 93s in a 171. Awesome skis all around from edge grip on ice and groomers to maneuverability in the tight NE trees. However, they did get thrown around a lot in the warm spring cruddy mashed potatoes. Is there a ski that has all the same qualities as the Kore on ice, groomers, and in the trees and powder, moguls, etc, but can make up the slack with better spring conditions performance and possibly better performance in those areas overall? Would going up to the 180 improve stability? I know the light weight hinders stability in conditions like those. I also like to get some air off the sides of trails as well. Thanks! (You guys do awesome work!)
Hi Wesley! Yes, going up to 180 cm would definitely help with stability. As you mentioned, it's always a balance between weight and stability. Too light or too short and they're bound to get deflected or tossed around in choppy snow conditions. I do think the 180 cm length is more appropriate for your size. Another ski I would take a look at is the Enforcer 93 (94 for 2021) from Nordica. That ski is often compared to the Kore as it uses a similar shape, but it has 2 sheets of metal, so it's more stable, although also heavier. In the Enforcer, I'd go with the 177 cm length.
Nice review guys, I have just skied this all season as my mid fat ski and it's a fantastic wider all mountain ski. Great versatility, very predictable and easy to ski, it just does what you want it to do as you say. Good strong edge grip, easy to pivot in the steeps, carves nicely on the groomers, floats well in the soft stuff, handles up to 6 inches of powder no problem, a great ski.
It's almost like a blend of those two skis. It's stronger and more powerful than the Rustler, in my opinion, but more versatile and easier in soft snow and tight terrain than the Enforcer 94. It's not quite as responsive as the Enforcer 94 on firm snow and probably not quite as much edge grip either, but more versatile. The turn initiation also feels different between the two. The M-Pro 99 asks for more skier input, while the Enforcer 94 pulls you into a turn more, but that pulling into a turn is what takes away some of its versatility for technical terrain so to speak.
We will definitely be talking about those two skis in our Comparison videos coming later in the summer/fall. Overall, the M-Pro 99 uses a more versatile shape. Because of that, the M5 has longer effective edge, and also pulls you into a turn more than the M-Pro. Both have plenty of power, however.
Heyo! Thoughts on this versus the Mindbender 99ti? Is it more playful? I am looking to get a more hard charging ski this year, but coming off an old Rossi S3 (very soft, flexible ski).
I do think the tip shape gives it a more playful feel in soft snow compared to the MB 99, yeah. The M-Pro also feels a little lighter on your feet, which ups the playful factor. My instincts are to go with the M-Pro. I think you'll prefer that ski coming off an S3, and it's definitely more powerful for when you want to charge.
I personally wouldn't go back from the Factory Recommended line. I thought they skied really well on that line. I feel like going further back would kind of mess up the balance between the rockered tip and stiffer, flatter tail.
We tested it pretty extensively and found no reason to go forward or back from the recommended line. The shape of this ski is an important element to its performance, and going forward or back from that recommended line can make it feel pretty weird.
Im torn about them dropping the Cham/Mythic format because that was such an awesome, agile ski. Very underrated in recent years, much more joyful than the Legend series. My Mythic 97s are great for touring but I can carve the hell out of them too with that 15m radius. But looking forward to test this line from dynastar. Your review made me way more excited!
I think the direction they are going makes sense. There is also an M-Tour line, which basically uses the same shapes, but lighter construction. Then the M-Free line is going to satisfy those looking for more surfy maneuverability. They're impressive skis.
The M-Pro is a bit lighter feeling than the QST, even with the metal of the M-Pro. I also like the downhill performance of the Dynastar a bit better than that of the QST, but not by much. For groomer and resort skiing, I think that M-Pro has a very high ceiling.
Hey Jeff/Bob would you go with these or wait for the new Maverick 95 or 100? I’m seeing these on crazy sale right now so it’s hard to pass, but I’m a big atomic fan.
M-Pro is great, so if you can snag one at a discount, it might be worth doing that. Mavericks feel a little looser in the tail, easier edge release at slow speeds, but not as powerful as the M-Pro, specifically in the tail.
Basically the same edge grip between the 90 and 99, the 90 is just quicker edge to edge. Both feel very strong. The Camox is softer flexing and has easier edge release. More tail rocker in the Camox is one of the keys to that difference.
@@SkiEssentials thanks for the info - thats really useful :) brilliant demo videos by the way - i've watched them all and have not found better ones anywhere on the web
sorry. Mayrhofen is awesome. I loved it as a kid. Still remember my dad eating it like a boss on Hara-kiri on a very icey day (east coaster can appreciate that).
urbanrunoff this would have been my first time there and I’m gutted to be missing out. Though I did get a week at Méribel last month and the snow was amazing
Good question. We just received some flat, before that we just had the skis with demo bindings. In fact, they showed up just in time for this video. I'll weigh them next time I have an opportunity.
stickgs: Got the weight intel for you. A little over 2000g per ski at the 186cm length. This article is awesome. It has 2 great charts comparing this new ski to most of its potential alternatives: blisterreview.com/gear-reviews/2020-2021-dynastar-m-pro-99

Love watching you guys ski. I see skid turn, big arching turns, smaller turns - doing a great job showing what the ski can do.. Brilliant!
Thanks Loren!
I just ordered these skis. Great review guys. The Legend was a killer ski that I still use to this day,
Sweet! Enjoy! They're great skis.

Great review. How would the Dynastar compare to the Rustler 9? Bit stronger? And the Enforcer 94?? Keep up the good work! Thanks in advance.

Did you switch sides? Is everything ok?
Haha, I actually think we switched back to what was once our normal sides!

Any thoughts about the mounting sweet spot? Dynastar recommends a little behind center...?
I personally wouldn't go back from the Factory Recommended line. I thought they skied really well on that line. I feel like going further back would kind of mess up the balance between the rockered tip and stiffer, flatter tail.
What is your recommendation for monting the binding.
More in front or back or at the mark?

I love dynastar skis , these babies are beautiful 😍
They are undeniably good looking skis.
Nice video. Just bought these! Thanks guys.
Grew up on a pair of Dynastar Course GS ... they remind me of them ... tons of fun!!
What would be the recommended size for someone who is 1m74 high and wants tu use it as a freetouring ski?
170 cm would be my recommendation. That'll be more maneuverable in technical terrain and I think more appropriate as a touring ski.
This compared to qst 99? Im looking for a do it all ski also for a bit of touring.
Im a light skier 6’

What about M-Line Tour 99 ?
hi - what the edge grip on piste like compared with the 90?
also - how would you compare the 99 to a black crows camox?
Basically the same edge grip between the 90 and 99, the 90 is just quicker edge to edge. Both feel very strong. The Camox is softer flexing and has easier edge release. More tail rocker in the Camox is one of the keys to that difference.
